Don't you think it might be in Bayern's best interest to let him go? It's not really a good signal towards the team and potential signings. The situation isn't comparable to a spoilt young talent who wants to force his way out after barely being there. Lewandowski has been there for 8 years, scored hundreds of goals and won many titles for Bayern.

C'mon, they should have offered him 2-3 years. He's like scoring 40-50 goals a season for a while now. He's no Neuer or Muller, he's your best fecking player and the club should recognize that.
Even if he's what, he's 33 now, he'd still score 30 a season until 36 in that weak-ish league with ease.
Anyway, he served your club quite well. Don't change your opinion on him because of what the media/club is reporting.

The club only wants to extend contracts for players over 30 by one year. I also don't agree with that but Neuer and Müller also wanted longer extensions and didn't get them so they can't give it to Lewy only a few weeks later.
And I'm not changing my mind on him based on what the media or club is reporting. I changed my mind about him because of the last 3 or 4 interviews he gave. He wanted to extend his contract here, didn't get what he wanted and now he acts like a baby and says something "has died inside him"...
Yeah...total lack of loyalty and respect that we offered you 2 instead of 3 years and now want to keep you for the remaining duration of the contract you signed...

Maybe clubs should stop asking for the sun and the moon as a transfer fee when players want out then. Players wouldn’t have to run down their contracts if clubs let them go for fair prices.

They’ll find a way to get the move that they want. Juve suffered this when they signed a bunch of free signings that everybody claimed was smart business only to see them lumbered with players who were happy to sit in the bench when not wanted.
Barca will have the same problems 18 months down the line. It’s hard to offload players when they get big wages for coming in on frees when you want to sell for an actual transfer fee and expect the player to accept less money. It’s the same principle as the situation we’re in with Martial.

Yeh. Your Club just don't want to let him go for cheap and potentially jeopardize his move. (I stand corrected. He's 34 y.o. this August). It's potentially his last hurrah of his career, where other Club agreed to give him a longer contract that your Club is not willing to give. But what do your Club do? Try to squeeze every penny off that Club he prefers.

That makes no sense. What you described applies to any player that has a large contract or doesn't get offers from clubs that he wants to join, regardless of whether they were "free" or not. And clubs have no obligation to offer large contracts, they chose to and pay the consequences if it doesn't work, they also reap the benefits when it does.
A contract is a contract though - I don't see why Bayern is a douchebag club for fulfilling a contract. Its why you offer a big wage in the first place, so you get many good years out of a player. It comes with the expectation of living up to that contract
Pretty much. It works both ways, clubs shouldn't expect more than the term of the contract and players shouldn't expect to be able to leave easily before the end date of a contract they agreed upon. But in the case of Lewandowski Bayern don't really have a strong case, Lewandowski can unilaterally buy his last year. So it's best for both parties to find an amicable arrangement.
No, I’m taking about players who have already shown they are happy to stay still and see out contracts. Shock, horror, these player are hard to move when the next club doesn’t want them. Aaron Ramsey is example number one for this. I don’t know why you’re so argumentative here, I never claimed anybody was in the wrong. I’m saying these types of players should have this factored in when assessing a transfer.
Offer Salah 400k a week for a free transfer and world class quality and see where he is in 3 years. I’ll bet you right now it’s on a bench being stubborn for a move .

Dembele did the same to join Dortmund. He doesn't need to do it anymore because he will leave for free this year.
Barça was ready to pay Griezmann's release clause (finally done) and the frenchman only wanted to do it "friendly", as it is the general rule in Spanish football. He was leaving for granted. So it is a stupid example.
Barça has signed dozens of players the last decade (most of them bad signings). If that's the best you can find...

I agree that Lewa's comments are a bit silly and made up nonsense. Still, I wouldn't get so worked up as long as these comments only happen in the transfer period. Both sides strengthen their position and that's fairly normal. Hopefully he can leave, but otherwise all can be forgotten if everyone acts professionally once the season starts.
The only party that annoys me a bit is Barcelona. I am okay with Barca making questionable financial decisions to fund their players, but please just start talking to the players once you really have the necessary money. Turning a player's head with a bigger/longer contract before having the money for an appropriate transfer fee is dick-move.

It seems as if this is more of a personal thing. He is obviously really offended by how he was treated. It's also noteworthy that there are quite a few Bayern players and representatives who were/are also very disappointed, namely Flick, Klose, Alaba, Gnabry, Süle, ... Busser also just made a step downwards to Dortmund without need. So chances are it's not just the Haaland talks. Especially since Lewandowski never did something like that before, even in comparable situations.
I think everybody would understand that you're not letting him leave for peanuts. But it rather seems like you want to keep him against his will - and that's not really a good image when the player in question is undeniably a club legend.

Not true at all. Aubamayang has also done very well in LL. For Lewa it will be CL or bust, hence why he didn't win 2021 Ballon D'or. He needs meaningful trophies (and yes, copa >>> Bundesliga no matter how you may try to twist it). He's an amazing player absolutely, but if he's coming to Barca to win ballon d'or at this point he'll need to at least make a CL semi-final and have them neck and neck with Madrid (I hope it happens) for him to have a chance. He still had a good season this year, but knocked out by Villarreal and people don't take anything he does outside of CL seriously due to Bundesliga's lopsided-ness.
