Robbie Savage - commentator

Anyone got any clips of what he actually said or anything? I heard he was ridiculous and I’m not in the least bit surprised but I’m working tonight so I didn’t get to see much of the game.

Yup, I've noticed it too. He's been very bitter towards us since his son left united.

When the Rashford tackle happened he said over and over again, "that's a red card he has to go for that". In fairness he kept saying he thought we'd score another but he's definitely changed his commentary towards us since the son left.

I didn't listen to him last night, but he was the one commentator who was openly biased in our favour.

I listened to him and he was still pro United I thought. He was positive about most things, he even said Rashford’s wasn't a red card until he saw the other angle and then changed his mind. Which to be fair is exactly what I did.

He was as biased as usual towards United last night. You can tell he’s still a fan.

Good to know, as I have gotten older I prefer to listen to biased people in our favour rather than neutral or ABU commentators.

I don’t think he was particularly biased against us, he’s just the type to state facts with regards to the rules or what he thinks the refs will do so he can be ‘right’ rather than give his own opinion, unlike Scholesy and Hargreaves.

That's exactly what I took from the situation as well. He even asked the lead commentator, who's name alludes me, whether he thought it was a red card & he agreed with Savage that on second viewing it should be a sending off.

I'm not a massive fan of Savage but compared to some of the other dregs that get put on co comms I think he does a decent enough job with it.

Shut the feck up please Robbie.

Stunned it took someone so long to bump this thread. Absolutely awful tonight. 26mins on the clock when he was calling for Amorim to abandon his system.

Stupid fecking bellend, shut the feck up

Has he mentioned the number 6 position a hundred times tonight? He’s definitely spoke about formations a fair bit. He’s harmless enough though. Rather listen to him than the bloke next to him.

Somebody make it stop. Rambling on about systems all night fecking long
The amount of times he kept pointing out how many defenders we had was ridiculous, there were a solid few minutes at the start of the 2nd half where it's literally all he talked about.

He went on far too long about tactics but as he's a manager now, he's probably learning at the same time and seemed to be really enthusiastic about it.

Haven't been angry listening to a game commentator is quite some times. He was infuriating and unbearable. Went on and on about formation to unbearable levels. Didn't even care about commenting the actual game anymore, he just keyed in on formation talks as if he was God's gift to football to teach everyone what formations should Amorim use and why his preferred one should be scrapped after 10 minutes of play.

Guess I'm in the minority who quite enjoyed his commentary then.

People whinge about pundits only talking about pashun and being too obvious... Fair play to Robbie for trying to offer some actual tactical insight.

I don't think I want to hear another word about formation/shape/systems until sometime after Christmas after hearing Savage drone on as much as he did tonight.

He made that match almost unwatchable at times. Nobody cares about his tactico analysis

It was quite amusing to me that with about 10 minutes to go he says "the manager needs time" after spending the prior 60 minutes saying he needs to stop playing a back three...

He didn't say that though? He said he might need to be a bit adaptable until he has more time and the right players.

Amorim then went on to... Adapt.

I agree in principle, but he said the same thing over and over again, when anyone with the ability to count to 4 could have told you how many defenders there were. Sports commentators have a tough job to be fair, to fill 90 minutes with only the game to talk about is going to be hard at times. It gets comical in baseball sometimes.

Trying being the operative word there. He tried to offer tactical insight in the same way that Antony tries to cut in on his left foot. Dreadfully, and often

Gave everyone a glimpse into what every commentary is going to be like for the next however long they can milk it...yes playing 3 CB's can be a bit different to the norm but feck me! it's not that interesting.

Every 5 seconds he was counting how many players were in the backline!

Brutal. Was chatting constant utter drivel for large spells about formations & systems. Wish there was that Amazon Prime option of muting the commentary.
