He has ability to run at player and that works really well for counter attacking side like Leicester , my question is different, what difference we could bring us if he'd been played on our current set up on the RW instead of Mata?
Look back at his goals / assists over the last year, not all of them are from counter attacks. He's made great crosses into the box, played clever through balls
And cut backs. Vardy is much more 1 dimensional in his play, but against deep defences he can still work well.

I can honestly say I had no idea who he was last season and I still don't know if he is good enough for United but having to watch Mata week in and out has made me desperate and right now I'd give my left bollock for him.
Was going to say the same thing. He simply looks lost out there on the pitch. Running around all over the place, but not actually doing anything.

I could see us getting fleeced for him and then him playing pretty shit. No winger except Young (who isn't on the level he was last season) has flourished here for about 3 years now

He runs with the ball too much and not enough passing when on the edge of the box. Wont fit with us.

What the points of getting a flair player like him when he would turn average once he adopts our philosophy. Even Martial is starting to look average(mostly in regards to his output) after such a brilliant start to his season.

Depay looked world-class before coming to United.
Let's not do the same to Mahrez, please.

Yea, it is really sad looking at how these footballer looses their self belief. I rather, we look at players who has a lot of work ethic, so at least if they are not producing in terms of their output, we can admire their hard work.

He'd have amazing 2-3 games for us and then van Gaal would substitute him for Nick Powell three times in a row and get benched permanently for being good. He will then slag him in media and tell everyone that he's even more hateful than Herrera.

Flair player? He has 10 goals and seven assists. Your argument could be applied to any potential signing.

The guy is a fantastic player. He can still be more intelligent in his play but it's clear for all to see that his natural ability can take him to the very top if he handles his career well. I'd love for us to buy him.

EDIT: 11 goals.

How about we just bring Januzaj and Wilson back in January along with a manger who allows them look like the players they looked like been, Mahrez looks class but will soon be zombiefied like the rest.

I've seen him skin a fullback enough times from a standing start to think he'd still do well.

Depay can skin defenders, Martial can skin defenders. It is what happens afterwards that matters and at the moment we wouldn't benefit from the great work he could do. We don't lack individual talent, it's just not being used efficiently at the moment.

How does a guy like Mahrez cost Leicester less than 1 million? Was he any good before his move to them?

It's like he's not even trying to smash it into the nearest defender's shins

Depay was playing in a different league. Mahrez looks brilliant in this league. While we should be cautious it does look like he's got 'something'.

That's not the point... he won't have anything after a couple of months at United. We've ruined players of the caliber of Di Maria, Falcao and Mata over the last couple of years, this boy would stand no chance.

To be honest, our defenders has been doing well. So, it can be applied to most of our attackers and perhaps some of our midfielders.

I would love us to sign him, but as I have said before we need to fix our management first and philosophy.

to be fair you expect first team in the premier league to beat someone trying to avoid relegation

You can't blame us for Falcao, better to blame his career-ruining injury. And Mata isn't ruined, he's just playing well below his level.

Well, that I agree with. But it's hardly an argument for not signing great players. There'll be a time after LVG, thankfully. Hopefully it will come soon.

Right. So let's not sign anyone good, ever again.

He is really quite good. Fantastic technical ability. The way he floats the ball with his shooting is excellent too. Real nice technique.

I read an e-mail from Marseille director turning him down last Summer laughing at how Leicester think they might have players who would get into Marseille team. Who's laughing now.

Did he? I'm asking because I saw very little of Depay in Eredivisie. Mahrez looks world class against anyone in the Premier League. Love his skill set.

I don't get the "in this league" argument. A class player should be able to perform in any league. Dutch football has loads of examples who have taken their form to other leagues, and English football has loads of players who looked top brass for one club but flopped the moment they went to another.

Di Maria WAS world-class before he came to United - and he showed his performances in the CL. But halfway under LVG, we saw him suffer to interpret LVG's demands, and be restricted by his 'philosophy'. It was another matter that he didn't try and adapt, that he was half arsed and never tried, but he suffered none the less. Memphis looked bright the first few games for us, then we saw him get subbed off and dropped when he lost the ball too much, and his confidence and performances have looked ordinary since. LVG talks about young players being inconsistent, he doesn't back them when they are.

PSV's Depay, Real's Di Maria and this season's Mahrez have something in common - they like to pull off tricks, beat their man, dribble and look to create or shoot. They need confidence, freedom to pull this off, and they were (are) in teams which create space for them to run into, have a high tempo to their game - and had managers who would back their skills and encourage them even if they lose the ball when trying to attempt something.

LVG gives none of that. So, unless we're changing managers, which I don't believe will happen in January, Mahrez will not be a good buy for LVG's United.

Liverpool could have bought him 100 times over for the price of 1 Andy Carroll.

Sign Vardy and Mahrez. Surely even Van Gaal wouldn't be able to stifle both.
