The difference is probably that as a right winger, Raphinha could come into a side like ours and even if he maintained his current output he'd still add something to us. We'd have balance on the right, another technical player, and basically somebody we could rely upon whereas for the last number of years we've been cobbling together ideas on the right. It's quite a straight forward solution to a straight forward problem.
A signing like that is stating that we're going to get our creativity from our wingers, they'll chip in, but quite logically the striker has to benefit from that and produce, supported by Bruno. Which after all is a balance that is pretty time tested - a striker scoring goals.
With Richarlison I'm not really sure what the idea is. I see him adding depth, certainly, but I'm wondering where our threat is if we sign him and a winger. Are we then signing a winger that scores bucket loads, is that easier to find than a striker? Just hoping he scores loads more, or that Sancho and co suddenly burst into goalscoring form? I get projecting into the future with signings and hoping they progress or create a different team dynamic, but a fairly good predictor is the past output.
In my opinion we'd be better going for someone that looks more of a bet to score plenty. Maybe it's not the Liverpool or City way but it's still a way.
