Ricardo?

People throw the term inexperienced about a lot on here, but how do you get experience if you dont get the games? BUT If you want to talk about experience i could argue that Ricardo has absolutely none of English football so why should he go in ahead of Carroll? Carroll has done nothing wrong and IMO has actually helped to steady the defence a bit recently. If i were him and got kicked out for Ricardo id be pissed.

I hope 1.5mil is a lucky sum ... I reckoned we signed Ole for that amount ... and everybody see how much a hero he has become ...

When we talked abt a "standby" GK here - I think we have to be really frank to ourselves ... Anybody think ppl like Buffon will come to sit on our bench ? ... even Casillas ?! .. The one coming will have to prepare for bench-warming while at the same time - prove his ability in training so he will get a chance ... it's a very difficult situation here so I guess for this particular one - Spain 3rd choice GK for 1.5mil I will definitely not complain abt it ... You just need to think back 2 seasons ago someone called Taibi use to be here for a much higher amount and you shall be convinced ...

Yup. Perfectly reasonable opinion to have. I'll give the bloke a chance to prove me wrong if he ever pulls on the shirt, and I hope I am... but my comparison with Chris Turner was not made lightly. They share very similair confidence issues and we all saw how that impacted on Turner at OT. Funnily enough he had just got on the fringes of the national side when we signed him... Hopefully the Ole omen will be the dominant one :)

If he was that good he would have secured a first-team place in a top Spanish club. Spanish clubs are at the top, they pay well and he wouldn't need to go abroad. At 31, he wouldn't have let the first place of the Spanish team to a very young keeper.

Still, I don't think he has come here to be number 3. The situation is quite strange. It would be unfair for Carroll to become number 3 too.

May be it's a good thing for Fabien. For his first professional year in Toulouse, at 20, he had began as the number 3, and became quickly the number 1. The next year, he came to Marseille as a number 2, but Olmeta had got injuries and Fab was so good during his absence that he kept his place. And yet Olmeta was very popular. After his place was never discussed, except with the French team. He was in competition with Bernard Lama and eventually Jacquet gave him the number one place.

For his first year with United, Bosnish, at the beginning, put some pressure on him, like Lama, and Fab did well.

So I think that competition is good for him. Well, I hope it's still the case... <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />
