Afternoon kick-off today for the reserves.

I would expect the team to be pretty similar than the one from last Thursday.

Anyone for a Hargo appearance?

A few of the underage lads are away on internation duty I think

Scholes might play? maybe to keep himeslf ticking over during the break. Micheal Owen/Park could do with a run out too.

Good chance for Park, Owen and Hargreaves to get some minutes in a low-impact friendly.

This would be an ideal game for Hargo really.
Almost behind closed doors game - ideal.

It is a behind closed doors game....

....that will now take place at Newcastle's Darsley Park first team training base at 3pm, behind closed doors - don't bother turning up as you'll be refused entry.

Today's game won't be televised live by MUTV, but their schedule for this coming weekend does confirm live coverage of Newcastle's U18 league fixture down at Carrington on Saturday (kickoff at 12.30pm).

Squad from the official site:

Sam Johnstone, Reece Brown, Joe Dudgeon, Oliver Norwood, Scott Wooton, Oliver Gill, Marnick Vermijl, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Joshua King, Ravel Morrison, Gabriel Obertan, Michael Keane, Sean MGinty, Davide Petrucci, Tyler Blackett

Bebe is away on international duty.

Guess that Petrucci may get a start today.

Brady still suspended?

Not sure if he's still suspended or not but according to the official website he's away on international duty

At a younger level, FA Youth Cup stars Ravel Morrison, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Tom Thorpe are in the England Under-19 squad with Sean McGinty and Robbie Brady representing Republic of Ireland in the same age group. Paul Pogba, fresh from another incredible strike at the weekend, is with France Under-20s and Marnick Vermijl is away with Belgium Under-19s.

Goalkeeper Joe Coll has been called up by Republic of Ireland’s Under-17s and Gyliano van Velzen is with Holland’s squad at the same level after being promoted from stand-by duty.

Maybe the rest of them havent gone yet?

manutdreserves

It seems Morrison has been sent off along with Perch of Newcastle, confirmation to follow

manutdreserves

Morrision red for kicking out, Perch for raising hands in retaliation

will he be suspended for the youth cup game? not sure how it works at the reserves/u18 level

will be a big loss if he is

2-1 Obertan again before Richardson for Newcastle.

Newcastle Res 1 Manchester United Res 2

Both teams started the second half down to ten men after Ravel Morrison and James Perch tangled a minute before the break. Perch shoved the Manchester United man after being kicked on the ankle.

Newcastle went close on the hour when Michael Richardson shot past the 'keeper from a narrowing angle but Oliver Gill got back and headed the ball away.

Five minutes later Paddy McLaughlin's corner found the head of Jeff Henderson but his on-target header was clear by Joe Dudgeon.

But it was the visitors who took the lead in the 68th minute when a ball over the top found Obertan who nipped through to fire past Tim Krul.

Obertan got his and Manchester's second with five minutes remaining with a similar effort but a minute later Richardson connected with a low left wing cross from McLaughlin and shot home to give Peter Beardsley's side a glimmer of hope.

Team: Krul, Leadbitter, Perch, McDermott (Nzuzi 69), S.Taylor (Streete 46), J.Henderson, Richardson, Inman, Kuqi (McLaughlin 55), Airey, Sam Ameobi.
Subs n/u: Soderberg, Edmundsson.

According to the official site Petrucci set up both goals

I don't know how bad the red card incident is, seeing as the game was behind closed doors, but I wouldn't worry too much about it with regards to Morrison himself, his apparent problems have never been 'on pitch' ones, so this red card isn't any sign of him falling back. Obviously it's not good and he's going to be a big loss for the cup, but he's only a youngster and these things are going to happen. Rooney is prone to kicking out and it's not done him any harm in the scheme of things, I'm sure he'll learn from this when he's made to sit and watch the Chelsea matches.

I take it you've seen the incident then? Or is it a case of it takes one to know one?

Can you restrict your muppetry to the main forum. I know it's hard for you Elliott

I don't need to see the incident to know that by not keeping discipline he's cost his team a vital player. No doubt you think any kick out is justifiable?

Anyway to address more sensible posts. I agree with R.Nick. The post wasn't anything to do with past indiscretions just pure disappointment that we'll be without him and he was one player I was hoping to see live as I'll be going to watch the semi at the Bridge.

No doubt he will learn

Morrison has kicked out a few times in the past, but he's also been targeted and you can understand the frustration many skilful players feel when not adequately protected by the ref. The highlights are on later on MUTV so will have a chance to see it then.

Stop being after the boy. Every time he doesn't score winners and play fantastic, some people seem to enjoy writing shit about him.. Come on, every player makes mistakes now and then. Support him, instead of focussing on the small negative things (red card).

What a load of shite. I don't see people enjoy writing shit about him:confused:

He gets more praise and support on here than any other young player. Just because he's one of ours doesn't mean he can't get criticism...as long as it's constructive.

I can tell I'll come to rue the day I crossed you.

I agree with all of that. But to go from there to labeling him an idiot-exclamation-mark is a far cry, especially when you haven't seen the incident in question. If you really think losing one's head fecking once makes someone an idiot, well, sorry to have to break this to you, mate, but you live in a world exclusively populated by idiots.

What an idiot!

I can tell you're becoming somewhat obsessed.

As I said take this somewhere else. The only one to date who's looking an idiot right now is you. I'll leave your rather stupid remark to hang there for all to see.

Now leave it!

What an idiot! He's young enough, let's hope he learns from this.

Big loss

Lets wait and see before we call him an idiot, players get sent off and booked for nothing these days ie Blackett being sent off in the youth cup against pool and McGinty's ridiculous booking in same game!
