Reserves v City 7pm Altrincham

He is a talent, hopefully he springs into the first team well. Reckon he gets a start on Saturday.

I tell you what Petrucci has really stretched out. Only really noticed how tall he had gotten when he was keeping Obertan out of trouble.

The City players got booked there too right?

Ober off for Rudge now I think. Very young this lad.

Nope, Logan didn't get a booking!

Rudge is 16 - tiny compared to these Reserve lads

How is his general play?. Dribbling et al, is it time to start fapping or would that be premature?. Has he developed from when he came or has the injuries taken something from his overall play.

How scholes-esque is his passing?

There hasn't been much time for any player on the ball it's all been a bit frantic but I think he was stealing the show until Anderson turned it on. Dribbling has been top notch, calm in defence and good at building from the back, normally with those lofted through balls.

He seems to be everywhere on the field...one moment he's building attacks from defence then he's powering through midfield then he's on the edge of the box...impressive

Hahahahahahaha!

That must be giffed and handed around the internet. Worst miss of all time.

Nice warm-up win before next week. Anderson looked very promising, looks as if he could play a big role in the run-in.

"Cleared the house"

Paddy cracked me up for Reece's shot in the first half, "A mum will be on the pitch asking which one of the lads put the ball through her window"

What stood out about Ando's Finishes is that he didn't hesitate or appear to think too long about it like he does when he get's in a scoring position for the first team.

First one he takes a smack at it with his right but the second one is very impressive, a City player breathing down his neck and he still slotted it away easily. He made it look natural instead of hesitant.

Good to see some passion from Obe, even if it was a bit silly. Petrucci was class, seems to have found a fondness for the sliding tackle during his time on the sidelines.

Manchester City Elite Development Squad.. FFS

Good to see Ando back. He'll play a big role in the upcoming weeks with our 1st squad.

(not talking about this game alone) Is the plan to keep Obertan in the reserves for the rest of the season or is he going to get some time in the 1st team as well?

Two nice goals from Ando. Good to see him back, he could be an influential figure in the end of season run in, for 3 competitions. 2 goals against the City first team at Wembley please.

Yeah, in the interview before when he was talking about his favourite position I was worried how well he would fit in to a Fergie midfield. Great to see him getting stuck into some tackles.

I thought Obertan had a good game too. Cracking goal.

I think Obertans doing well, in that he's been productive over recent goals and has scored a decent few now. If we can pick up his confidence, he could still be a good player for us.

Andersons first goal was great but what struck me is he must be deceptively quick because he didn't look that quick making that first run. However, it still looks like he scuffs that first one in :)

Petrucci was class, great to see him start a match after so long. Anderson looked very energetic which was particularly pleasing to see.

I was actually really impressed by Oliver Norwood, haven't been especially impressed by him in the last couple of months but thought he did very well last night. Some really wonderful passing, in particular managing to get the ball passed their defence (through or over) and weighting it perfectly for the forward to run on to it. Very Scholes-esque, I think he could turn out to be a good player (maybe not for us, but someone else down the line).

I know you've been following Petrucci with considerable interest since he came to Utd. Or so your posts come across. Do divulge a bit more on his progression and his possibility of joining the first team ranks soon enough. The muppet in me has been thirsty for information and ideally i'd rather we promote from the inside than buy the names that've been popping up with respect to the midfield.

Also pogue mentions of an interview the lad gave before the match, a transcript of that would be much appreciated.

Furthermore, on the match itself, both of Anderson's goals cames from his typical bursts from midfield, when he does attempt this in the first team more often than not he is dispossessed, was yesterday because of better control of the ball and presence of team mates for the 1-2's or was it more because of the lack of skill and strength among the city reserves...oops Elite Development Squad.

It would be much appreciated if people answer the above question, anyone who saw the match last night.

As you know there is a huge difference between reserve and 1st team football but they were the sort of goals that Anderson with his ability should score even in 1st team. Like you suspected this City side seemed much more about strenth and power not technique and sublety.

As for the others -
Petrucci is a class act
Brown was surprisingly good in the middle
Oberton is getting stronger and more effective every week his work in the Gym is beginning to pay dividends.
Norwood has quality but only time will tell what level he will reach.
Amos - had little to do before injury
Devlin - thought he did well
vermiji - found it hard
Dudgeon - most United fans would like this guy because he always gives everything.
Wootton - not having his best run of form recently - same again tonight
Gill - very steady and still progressing
Bebe - an enigma - potentially he has everything; strength, power, a few tricks and a shot like a mule in either foot and yet so often he can look completely useless. However i do see signs that he is beginning to settle and relate more to the rest of the team.
King - everybody knows he has huge potential.

Rudge -- on for very short time, young and quite small -- however very impressed he is certainly no shrinking violet.

I did a transcript of the Petrucci interview in the Petrucci thread.

He's another with a chance of getting on the preseason tour, and maybe a loan deal next year. Good to see him back and looking fit and nit shying away from tackles. Looked very impressive yesterday in his first start, but it was also a poor elite squad.
