United's reserves playing Curzon Ashton tonight, all updates/info shamelessly stolen from ManUnitedYouth aka Nick OGS20.

Confirmed United line up:

Devlin
Wootton
Dudgeon
Chester
Gill
Possebon
Stewart
Morrison
Eikrem
Ajose
King

Subs: Fryers, Johnstone, Norwood, Tunnicliffe, Brady, Lingard, W Keane.

Possebon in there. I thought he was going to be sold this summer.

Players not involved from the ''core'' reserves squad: Gray, Cathcart, R.Brown, Vermijl and Petrucci.

Anyone know if Petrucci is still injured? That boy's had a terrible run over the last 18 months, was really hoping this would be the season he finally got a chance to develop.

Not that it doesn't happen to a lot of players - didn't Gerrard and Scholes both have a lot of injuries as youngsters?

I would more say that Petrucci is in the same situation Fletcher was in - only worse. Fletcher were out injured a lot due to growing pains - and its the same Petrucci has struggled with I understand

Add Will Keane to that list and I completely agree, all 4 look very promising.

My personal favourite is Ryan Tunnicliffe - I would love to see a player of his kind breaking into the first team. We lack that kind of midfielder

But weren't Gerrard's injuries as a young player mostly growth related?

Eikrem scored a rebound after King's shot was saved, Morrison's goal was a brilliant chip and Ajose's was a good finish from a tight angle after a good run and cross from Dudgeon.

All seven subs on at HT.

4-0 twenty minutes into the second half through Robbie Brady. He's scored one, hit the bar once, and fired narrowly over from 35 yards since coming on at half-time.

Cameron Stewart just hit the post.

On a side note, last time our reserves played Curzon Ashton, a certain Gerard Pique was in the side

The reserves could be pretty exciting to watch this season depending on the loans. Some very talented attacking players in the squad this year.

The amount of talent in the younger generations is amazing - it will be a gigantic failure if not a few of these turn out to be first team regulars

The Reserves should be well worth watching this year with the likes of Eikrem, King, Brady, Petrucci (fingers crossed on him) all involved and the best of the second year academy group (Morrison, Pogba, Keane) stepping up at times. One of those players will surely end our long wait for a forward/winger/playmaker to break through from the academy system to become an established first team regular.

EDIT - Posted that before reading the above comments. Spooky :nervous:

Hope it all finally comes together for Morrison. A scary prospect at his best

Yeah, towards the end of last season he seemed to become a lot more mature on the pitch, here's hoping he can build on that, keep his head down, and really develop because he could really become a great player. Out of interest, how old is he now?

Our FA Youth Cup team should be strong as well - even if I think we are one classy winger away from a really strong side

Looking forward to going to the reserves again this season, should be very good.

Who was the last one? Rossi, if you want to count him?

I know, his pass for the first goal below still makes me do a little sex wee

17. I first remember seeing him play as a 15 year old (maybe 14?) for England schoolboys against Wales I think. From memory England won something like 6-0 and you could see then that Morrison was ridiculously talented. If he gets his shit together then the world is his oyster.

Could have been double figures for United by all accounts, very useful first run-out of pre-season. Next game at Dunfermline on Saturday.

Richardson broke through and made the first team but just didn't train on enough to make it last.

Someone sent me some photos from the match, United wearing the new home kit. Makes you wonder why they are still keeping it secret.

I haven't asked permission so I'll put one up for now. Thanks to Paul for this:

It seems a bit odd that the Reserve team actually unveils the new kit in public before the 1st Eleven does.
