He only has one foot, the left, but it is a howitzer and he can throw the ball over the half way line! Roche played a blinder holding Wayne Grady but the one time he was beaten Everton scored. Chris Eagles had a poor first touch in central midfield the ball was pushed out to Grady on the right wing, he beat Roche with a great feint went down to the corner, cross was a pull back and Osman charged in and side footed into the net beating a despairing dive from Ricardo.
Nardiello was a pain tonight. He messed up about six good chances.Forlan missed two- he is not a goal scorer. Rankin had a good game, Richardson not so good. Pugh was solid but did not get forward as much as usual. Chadwick was not as bright as in the West brom match. Seemed to lack confidence tonight. Mind you the Everton boys were physically much bigger than united. Gazza was OK and so was david may.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Everton were a better side than us, more physical, probably older a lot of them, and they kept the ball well and gave us little space to play our passing game. I thought our midfield was particularly poor, Rankin and Lynch failing to control the game and looking out of their depth. Richardson and Chadwick were both too lightweight to get past their markers, and they were tightly marked. The defense did well enough, but I don't think Pugh or Roche will make it, the latter will move on shortly I would think. Forlan is not a striker, he's more of a roaming midfielder, he gets very few opportunities to score, and tends to overhit them instead of going for accuracy. Nardiello did squander chances, he's not as good as Webber. Ricardo did very well, he had little or nothing to do in the first half other than deal with backpasses, but in the second half was forced to make several saves, showing good reactions and ability to spread himself and block shots. Gary is better than Phil, but we knew that already, and he lasted the 90 mins well.
