So, seeing as its a done deal that Rooney is off somewhere, anywhere, the more sensational the better.

Who would we buy to replace him?

Lets assume we get 50-60million for him, ignore the debt, and that its made available for a replacement (I know its pie in the sky but hey, thats not stopping anyone!)

I'd think I'd go for Aguero...

Can't believe its come to this already. Say it isn't so, someone wake me up.

Id give the youth a chance and spend the cash on trying to replace Giggs Scholes and VDS.

I'd ask for Higuain as part of a deal to Madrid, and use the money to try to get Pato(this kid can be as good as Cristiano IMO) and a midfielder of some substance.

In reality, we'd buy Rodallega, give Owen a new contract, poach a couple of 16 year old's from foreign academies, and ask the rest of the squad to step up :smirk:

I wouldn't want the money. Think we missed a beat whe we sold Ronaldo and didn't take any of Reals players:

I'd ask for the likes of Benzema, Higuain, Kaka etc in return for Rooney. I'd aski over value Rooney as I'm pretty sure Real would pay whatever.

Yeah...that Ronaldi was a good player.

If he goes to Madrid, I can see us asking for Benzema in exchange.

My preference would be either Pato or Torres(If Rooney really wants to leave).

Ship Rooney off for cash plus Benzema, invest in a proper centre attacking mid and jobs a good 'un

I would be more than happy to have Benzema and some cash in return for Wayne.

I wouldn't want Torres at all, not because of the fact he would never come here, but the fact he's always fecking injured.

:lol: How much are you expecting us to get? Higuain would be rated at about £30/£40 million, realistlically if we got him we'd get about £25 cash, not enough for Pato, never mind Pato and a midfielder

Real will be in the driving seat of any rooney deal unlike the ronaldo deal. not a chance they'd let higuain go. They'll try to get rid of benzema in the process who they don't want to keep

I didn't say wed get Higuain the question was who would you like to see replace him, but on saying that Perez has been known not to be Higuains biggest fan and if the chance to sign Rooney came up maybe hed be willing to trade, who knows.

But yeah i think Benzema is more than a possibility, Fergies had a boner for him for years and hes well out of favour at Madrid, 30 mil plus Benzema or something like that wouldnt surprise me, i hope not mind because hes half the player Rooney is.

Either way we cant replace him is the simple answer, no one out there as good or better than Rooney is coming to us, wouldnt surprise me for a moment if we ended up going for the likes of Andy friggin Carroll and sighting value.

What's Jeffers upto these days?

Got released by Sheff Wed in the summer

As for the thread for me I would go with Higuain or Darren Bent. People may laugh at the latter but Bent is a proven Premier League goalscorer with a mid table side. Either one would link up well with Berbatov imo.

I was actually thinking we could do something remotely ambitious and actually delve into the untouched Ronaldo windfall, although the second paragraph I wrote shows how much faith I have of that happening

Anyway, we'll line up like this next season:

---------------VDS-------------
Rafael - Smalling - Evans - O'Shea
Valencia - Gibson - Carrick - Park
---------Heskey --- Vassell ------

Quality side.

Assuming we don't splash cash on big name stars like Pato..

Rodwell/P.Jones, Sneijder/Modric, Bale, Rodallega/Higuain/Benzema...

If we can get that for £80 millions worth, I'd be more than happy. Three players for £20 mill each.

The squads fine even without rooney plus theirs no value in the market. Let the owners pay off some debt or declare a nice big dividend :)

Well we can but dream :)

Spurs would want over £20 million for Bale; he isn't worth that but he's British and we like paying over the odds for Spurs players.

I'd still like him though.

Modric
Nani Berbatov Bale

N'Zogbia then... he'd be alot less cheaper, established prem player and importantly left-footed with pace.

I'm just booting up FM, I'll let you know who I sign...

Id take that right now, simply because i think its going to look a lot worse next summer, Tottenham will never sell Bale and Modric, one would ask would either want to come? without Rooney you could argue Spurs have a better team than us on paper.
