Replace the CEO first

The thing I will never understand is that it really is in the Glazers' best interest to actually hire a funcitoning set of execs to manage this club. It costs them money running it this badly. People talk about yes men this and that - but a more competent CEO than Woodward would have created more value in the past 5 seasons and thus delivered them more potential dividends and market cap.

People say 'as long as the dividends are there' the kids could care less, but surely the prospect of getting an additional $5m a year is incentive to pay attention?

Woodward's management should be viewed as a financial crime. He did well initially to spike our commercial revenue, but in the last 3-5 years has done nothing, been overtaken by our peers, wasted countless millions on terrible transfer sagas and delivered precisely 0 trophies, well in the last 3 years anyway.
Just guessing here.

Since Glazers own more gigs than just our club, they actually have Woodward, his men involved in their network. While those guys are not maximizing the profit for our club, in the overall scheme they still make good buck here, and as a whole they help Glazers to gain wealthily from all kind of operations. From perspective of owners who know nothing and care nothing about the club, to profit from this club and the network these moneymen help provide (money first), the owners would feel some kind of dependence, even gratefulness toward them.

And these men just don't like football people taking the top job, rocking the boat on their system.

At least Arnold had the sense to cancel all his Monday appointments and ring Joel Glazer directly because he was well aware of how terrible/toxic the situation after that Liverpool debacle had been. So he has a decent awareness of how things are going, instead of burying his head in the sand like many others. So I just cross my fingers and hope for the best.
That didn't actually happen, I'm told.

If the Caf had a front page, this post should be on it with a big banner headline :)

The problem with the Glazers is not that they are hard nosed, ruthless cnuts. It would be a lot better if they were. They just seem to be soft, dithering pussies.

You cannot help but feel that anyone managing United will have the same basic problems of dealing with the owners, or more correctly putting up with the interference from the top.
Did Jose ask for Sanchez? He always seemed surprised to me..... but a lot of shirts were sold.
Did Ole ask for CR? Again its hard to judge.... but a lot of shirts were sold.
Even as far back as Mata's arrival, Moyes looked perplexed ... but a lot of shirts were sold.

Good player though he was, Sanchez never fitted into Jose's plans and because he was not a firm favourite/past icon with the fans, it didn't cause too many upsets when he left.
CR is a legend already at United, but did his return really fit in with Ole's plans? Will Ole now have to go if CR stays?...eek! eek!

All good players, but perhaps sanctioned by the owners who were thinking more about shirts sales, than the needs of their football coach?

The players revolt against Jose in the end might have been about how he dealt with individuals, but Sanchez arrival on nearly twice as much per week as most other United players, must have had an effect! The general view is the players by their 'on field' displays 'threw Jose under a bus'!

Can't help feeling the same things happening again, this time it is Ole's plans that have been 'shipped wrecked' by the new (CR) arrival on our shores? Is he perhaps throwing up in hands in frustration and this is why he sent out a team 'pummeled' by Atalanta in the first half, again, this time against Liverpool, or is it a 'death wish/sack me now' act from Ole?

Cant help thinking the appointment of John Murtough as Director of Football has either come too late...or made things worse?

If Moyes didnt have a hand in that one, it shows how inept he was.. that was a transfer he should have been 100% for. Mata was one of the best players in the PL at the time. The man was lighting things up for Chelsea every week. Plus if i remember correctly it was looking like Rooney was on his way out the door at the time, so it made sense to bring in Mata. Then Moyes went and gave Rooney back the the armband

Then Moyes went and gave Rooney back the the armband

That is what I mean!

To me Moyes looked surprised when the announcement was made, I doubt he ever intended to buy Mata, he was I suspect bought over Moyes head.... and Juan has been a good servant to United, no arguments there.
Just wondered if this was the first case of the Glazer's interference and if it was it was certainly not the last time they sought to quell supporters anger by bringing in a big name... whether we need them or not. Big names sell merchandise and help land bigger and better sponsorship deals.

Replacing the CEO is a start.

Richard Arnold does not warrant the promotion to CEO. Bringing back David Gill would be my ideal choice, not sure if he would accept though. Van Der Sar isn’t a bad shout either.

Murtough should be sacked, been at the club for a long time now & i’m yet to see any sort of difference he has made. In fact, performance across all youth teams has gotten worse during his time here. A director of football should be appointed, Dan Ashworth at Brighton would be my choice, heard great things about him for quite a few years now.

McKenna, Carrick & the new lad Ramsey should all be kept at the club if the 1st team management is to be sacked, in u23 or u18 coaching roles. Neil Wood who is currently in charge of the u23’s should be sacked, results haven’t been great for a while now. Last time we were even competitive in the u23s league was when Warren Joyce was still here.

Fletcher should stick to coaching, that’s what his initial role was when he came to the club wasn’t it? Love Fletch but no idea what this ‘technical director’ role actually entails, just seems to hang around the training pitches with the rest of the coaches anyway.

Justin Cochrane should just be a youth coach, the title ‘head of u17-u23 development’ is very ambiguous, I’m sure he has clear & defined tasks but it’s impossible to know what they are from the outside.

Matt Judge, Chris Chiang can both leave with Ed Woodwood. Too many accountants in the football side of the organisation.
