I actually like Enzo on the right and he is the reason why i dont think that team is awful....remove him and i dont see one player that would connect the team. But yeah im also surprise by the scoreline as i think the other team is much better, both tactical and quality wise.

I'm not given most votes would have been as a result of the crazy tactics. It's a tough one as in a normal game it's a better team anyway, but I can see many scratching their heads based on fit.

I can understand the choices.

Team RT reminds me the midfield of Monaco: a 4-4-2 with Bernardo Silva playing the role of Scifo, Lemar more comfortable on the wing... The idea is to give the FB full freedom to attack.
If the idea is to get the most out of Del Piero, I would have been more inspired by a 3-5-2 system or even a 4-3-(#10-Del Piero-CF). I know some would say 'A remake is no fun', 'A remake is for lazy people'... However, I consider Del Piero/Raul at their best at the top while combining in tight spaces with a CF/#10 and benefiting from the support of a strong midfield. On the other hand, forwards/Support strikers like Cantona were different: they need the freedom to join the penalty area but also to organize the game deep.

Team RT is consistent and Del Piero could be good at any role (LWF, #10..).

Team Joga/harms is more sophisticated, a mix of 'Not enough German/Soviet players so we need our beloved Bonhof at any price' with 'We have to abandon our convictions to please some posters' as though they were the gospel truth.

Anyway, my choice was pretty sample: I've voted for joga/harms because of their involvement on and off this thread.

I hope @RedTiger will try something new next time :)

Missed the game(weekend start is generally rubbish for me for drafts) but couple of observations:

I liked the initial approach by @harms and @Joga Bonito but the inclusion of Demyanenko as a winger and Bonhof on the right was a bit unconventional and probably the reason why many didn't fell in love with the team.

The sub is a better in terms of having an easier formation to read, but then again since you guys have Heynkess on the bench I wonder if he'll be accepted better than Streltsov and let Deyna run the show as a #10?

RT team is straight forward and Dani Alves was really great upgrade which would allow Schifo to come inside. Going safe in terms of formation and versatile personnel at the end proved to be the winner I think.

Again, a bit strange, considering that both are more than proven in those positions and most voters are knowledgable enough to visualize it, or so I thought. Especially with Bonhof - you can argue that it was his best position, at least in the national team. Considering that some voters cried for more runners and the exclusion of one of Streltsov or Deyna

Done and dusted, nevermind.

Yeah that's why I thought the shape of the formation was better in terms of getting out the better of Elkjaer and I found it odd that many had issue with it.

Demyanenko is mostly known as a wing back and with Lizarazu already there thought was probably the "issue" alongside Bonhof as an more of a winger in 4-4-2(opposed to right midfielder in 4-3-3).

Either way thought the core was excellent and IMO Tardelli/Robson with Streltsov dropping in and Elkjaer as his partner was better than the 5-3-2 with Deyna and Streltsov overlapping in that zone.

Commiserations guys as I thought you had a great team worthy of winning it all and congrats @RedTiger - you have a mighty fine team mate.

Can you elaborate on why do you think it's the perfect fit for Del Piero in terms of personnel or formation? @RedTiger We're happy to answer the same questions if they'll be asked.
Just want to have a discussion going, if it's possible
I'm at work now and have some time to type!

Personally the reason I went with the formation I did was to utilise del piero as a second striker or to be more precise a trequartista. I've used narrow wingers to allow creativity through the middle because stankovic and essien won't really provide that but more specifically to allow space on the flanks for both del pier to play a free role.

I think that this team would be similar to the team where del piero played as a withdrawn partner for Vieri from the 96 juve side. Obviously people will say that that team was built around zidane and that's true but I believe that the zidane role from that side can be equally covered by Leonardo and scifo coming inside and playing a central role.

@harms @Joga Bonito I'm extremely embarrassed at the outcome of this match, you guys really laid out your tactics in a way that I could only dream of.

Truthfully you guys should go through on your hard work and tactical nous that quite evidently was missing from my write-up, my apologies again for not having the time to fully engage in this game.

Hey, no need to apologise at all. You haven't done anything wrong mate. The unpredictability (both positive and negative aspects of it) of drafts is something that you get used to over time and crazier things have happened on here.

You don't have to be embarrassed. You've done a good job. You have children and IIRC you fast so I hope you enjoy the Ramadan!

My vote for your team was a reward for your involvement.

You're right to suggest all my defeats are crazier things
