United's Reserves travel to table-topping Sunderland on Monday evening, aiming to extend a run of three successive victories.

The Reds have overcome Bolton, Wigan and Manchester City with a string of impressive performances in recent weeks, but have a tough ask at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats have dropped only seven points all season, and are eight points ahead of the Reds - who have a game in hand.

Victory this evening - in a match which will be shown live on MUTV - would catapult the Reds back into the title race, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has another strong side as his disposal.

Rodrigo Possebon comes straight from the successful Carling Cup final squad to take his place in midfield, while Zoran Tosic and Fabio continue in the side.

Ben Amos keeps goal behind a defence of Fabio, Corry Evans, Ritchie De Laet and James Chester, while Kiko Macheda will again be a lone striker in front of a rotating five-man midfield comprising Possebon, Tosic, Danny Drinkwater, Matty James and Lee Martin.

Coverage begins at 18:30 GMT, half an hour before kick-off.

Will hopefully be a good game. I wonder if Pettruci will make the bench this time round, doesn't appear to have been an academy game this weekend so he won't have played in a while.

As always I look forward to seeing the young guys play, in particulas Fabio, James and Kiko. I will also be looking to Possebon to up his level of performance, he really needs to start dominating these reserve games if he wants to prove himself. Will also, obviously, be keeping an eye on Tosic to see if he can improve on his quite poor performance against City.

I am also very interested to see how Martin does. he is a player that seems to get overlooked when it comes to the CC/FA Cup games and appears to be falling into the Eagles category, unfortunately, but I do reckon he has been very impressive over the last few reserve games and I think he was the best player on the pitch against City.

Alright Mitch (still lovin your username)

martin certainly is an interesting one at the moment. Outstanding in the last 3matches. Seems to be working harder than Ive ever seen before. Always thought he was better than Eagles based on his underage form (4/5 years ago). We could end up getting a few million for him at this rate.

Cant wait for next season to see Petrucci, Macheda and James get a run out in the 1st team.

Martin is cuptied.

You know what Mitch (felt a compulsion to use the name haha), Petrucci hasn't featured in any of the 4 (I think) Academy or Reserve squads so here's hoping he's there tonight. I'll ask this question yet again, but does anyone know what's happened to Petrucci? Is he injured or something?

haven't heard anything about an injury to petrucci, but then it is hard enough to get info about injuries to the first team players...

Yeah, you don't always get info on injuries etc at this level but surely Petrucci must've picked up something. Either that or his dad fecked up Fergie's garden.

Team:

13. Devlin
2. De Laet
3. Fabio
4. C. Evans
5. Chester - capt
6. James
7. Possebon
8. Drinkwater
9. Macheda
10. Martin
11. Tosic

12. Derbyshire
1. Amos
14. Norwood
15. Stewart
16. Brady

Amos injured in warm-up so Devlin makes Reserve team debut.

Tosic playing on right while Drinkwater is playing on left.

My usual stream is shit. If someone has a decent one I'd appreciate a PM.

Me too please Decotron

1-0 down at half-time, de Laet not covering himself in glory for their goal from the brief glimpse I got of it.

thanks decotron :)
how do you paste link onto flv player though?
i've tried but doesn't take it

:lol::lol:

PS18, De Laet has yet again been awful - that's probably an understatement in truth. Several times he's been incapable of playing simple passes including one at the end of the half, add to that the one at the start which very nearly led to an own goal as it went passed Devlin in goal. Then for their goal he dived in with a haphazard challenge and completely sold himself leading to their player whipping in a free cross and them taking the lead. He just doesn't look good enough in all honesty.

I'm of the same view to be honest, he's been far too error-prone in his appearances so far and it's not like he's 16/17. I can't see him being here beyond the summer, he's certainly got it all to do between now and May to earn a contact.

Maybe Petrucci's dad could take him on during the summer? ;)

Maybe Petrucci has taken a trip back home, I believe he was promised flights back home when he signed maybe that is what has happened.

Very poor game reminiscent of the last academy game no spark at all for united. Stewart has been awful lately cant do anything right. De Laet was poor again as was Tosic

Fabio was ok.

James was very quiet imo, didn't impose himself nearly enough on the game, could do, and has done in the past, a lot better.

Kiko was ok too - a bit isolated for much of the game but showed glimpses of what he can do. Could really do with a player up there with him, playing as the lone man is a tough ask and i think he is suffering for it.
