RedCafe's World Cup Game [RCWCG]

It's actually simple enough. The complicated scoring bit is to be done by the organizer and the ones playing only need to download that excel file, fill in their bids and send it back and then pick whoever they want from the bids they won to form a squad.

You should summarize it mate, so that more people would be able to take interest.

OK, so guys, it's draft game based on auction. You have to choose best team with limited resources consisting of real-life footballers playing in the 2014 World Cup. It may seem quite complicated, but in reality it isn't. I'm pretty sure this fresh idea can be nice addition to watching World Cup and bring something new to PBF games played at RedCafe!

How far did people get before giving up?

I made it to about 3.4.

How about replacing all that shit in the OP with just this?

The first rule of RedCafe's World Cup Game is; you do not talk about RedCafe's World Cup Game.

OK, so players will choose their teams.

How the hell they will know how result is calculated? I'm going to post results and no one will have any objections about it?

Past caring after reading that mate. Half of all Caf'tards are now lying in a pool of their own blood with a sharp stick protruding form each eyeball.

You've got a lot to answer for.

So it's a fantasy game for the World Cup? Why wouldn't we just, you know, use an actual fantasy football website?

This. I think this gif sums up the effect this OP had on people.

I guess the difference is that in a fantasy website many teams can have same players while here it being based on draft rules everyone will have a unique team which will be picked through an auction.

No, it's completely not like Fantasy Premier League or something similar. In this one you are playing against each other and score goals based on quite different set of rules. And every footballer can be in ownership of only one player.

@_MTR_

Create a core statement that elucidates the objective of your idea.
Use paragraphs or sections, format it properly so that people actually read.
Rules should be clearly defined , use an ordered list etc.

That's how they do fantasy NFL and stuff in America, so really it's not that different.

I play if someone explains to me what I have to do in less than 100 words. I don't care how the results are calculated for now, just tell me my budget, how many players I can pick and how it's determined who gets who.

@_MTR_ and maybe @Aldo can help, he probably already played a similar one anyway ;)

Ok, I've put technical details in spoilers. It's still longer than label on wc freshener, so you will need some time to read this.
:lol::lol::lol:

I literally just spat my water out when I saw how much you left in compared to what you spoilered. I think you need to seek more advice from @Eboue

Paragraphs 2 and 3 are what you need to read. But they consist of 309 words. :<

Just posted the link.

From what I understood, we have a budget and we submit bids on a host of players at once. There won't be bidding wars, as it is a blind auction. We have to fill in that excel file with our bids and send it to the mod. Now, the players for which you had the highest bids, you will have first option on. It doesn't mean they are yours, or you are obliged to have them in your team, basically you just take the ones you want and the ones you leave are forwarded to the ones who had second highest on those players.

That's pretty much it, this way we get a whole squad.

And my budget is 100 $ ??? That's not much to buy 16 players?

Very good summary although I think the game may be doomed after nearly 3 pages of it being mocked. Would probably be best to start over.

Everyone has the same, so you have to manage bids in order to get 16 players. I think around 6 is average if you want a minimum squad but you can also bid 1 on many players and get them later, I guess.

Yeah, and we bid on many many players and go far over the 100 with all bids added together, so that we have options to fill up the squad later, if I understand it correctly.

Maybe @_MTR_ could fill out one excel sheet as an example? You're the gamemaster, right? And therefore you're not playing? That sounds like a lot of work, so thanks for the effort, mate

It's 100 R€D which is fictional currency created for this game.

I've made a start of trying to make it seem simpler. Reading through it it is fairly simple, but it is the layout of the OP as it is which has got people confused.

Format
  • 16 players.
  • Each participant starts with 100 R€D (Game currency).
  • Each participant has a squad containing between 16 and 23 players inclusive - 2 or 3 of the squad must be goalkeepers.
  • Each participant’s squad must have no more than 5 players from 1 country.

Auction rules
  • Each participant downloads this file.
  • Each participant enters bid in the grey cells with value prepared to play for individual footballer.
  • Summed value of all bids must not exceed 100 R€D and once done, each participant must send file back to me.
  • I compare offers and send PM to each participant informing them of auctions they have won.

Winning auctions
  • An auction is won if nobody else offered at least 90% of the highest bid. The participant with the highest bid has first option on the footballer and the participant with the second highest bid gets second option on the footballer.
  • I then let participants know about auctions that are still ongoing.

Picking squad
  • When auction is over, each participant chooses squad from footballer he has first option on (team doesn’t need to have 16 players at this point).
  • After this, each participant is informed about players he has second option on but weren’t selected by those with first option. Squads must have 16 players at this point.
  • If participant is still not content with squad, he can ask me about footballers he still has first option and third option on.

Second auction
  • Footballers are released only when their country is knocked out of the World Cup. The participant then recovers half of the footballer’s value.
  • Footballers are also released from teams knocked out in this World Cup game.
  • The second (and last) auction takes place on 2nd and 3rd July. Each participant who is still in the competition also has an additional 50 R€D to spend.
  • The value of each footballer in the second auction cannot be lower than their value in the first auction.

Matches and points
  • Before every match, each participant must announce team consisting of 11 footballers.
  • Team must consist of 1 Goalkeeper, at least 3 Defenders, at least 3 Midfielders (at least 1 Defensive Midfielder and 1 Offensive Midfielder) and at least 1 Forward.
  • Bench consists of 5 footballers.
  • Substitutions are made only if footballer in starting lineup plays no more than 60 minutes and are only possible within the formation (so no bringing on Forward for Defender).
  • Then put all the point stuff here in spoilers...

Bolded part is wrong. It can, it won't when players will complement their squads.
