Also, for the results next week, need some opinions. This was meant to be finishing a week or two ago but due to adding a couple of rounds, it has moved onto xmas week.

The initial plan was to list the top 40 by posting 8 albums a day for 5 days but Xmas falls on the Wednesday so I can either:

1. Do it as planned (8 per day).
2. List 10 per day and skip Xmas day.

Either works for me. What do you guys prefer?

Blame all the baby booming Brexiters in here

I’ve already accepted this is gonna be very rock heavy.

Same! I first started by deleting everything I really didn't want to vote for, and that got it down to 7 already.
I’ve already accepted this is gonna be very rock heavy.
That's not even my problem. It's just largely rock I don't care about.

But I agree on whatever way lets you post the results fastest, @Dirty Schwein. And thanks for all the work of course. :)

No worries mate, I'll probs stick to 8 a day next week. Wife had to fly to Malaysia due to family emergency so I'm left alone all Xmas and will need something to do

1 Nevermind (Nirvana)
2 The Doors (The Doors)
3 Appetite for Destruction (Guns n' Roses)
4 London Calling (The Clash)

Just a boomer but you’re right about the selections. I couldn’t even pick 10 albums when it got to the 90s meanwhile I could easily pick ten albums for every year in the 60s and 70s. The 80s were a bunch of one hit wonders but getting ten was not too hard.

Round 5/2000s most embarrassing set of albums of the entire list.

Round 5 is so poor.

I'm struggling to choose ten out of this list. There are a lot of influential albums here but lots of them I couldn't honestly say I was a huge fan of them. A lot of them are just OK to me. I'll vote for the ones I would most prefer to listen to, seeing as it is favourite and not best.

1. The Queen is Dead
2. The Suburbs
3. Doolittle
4. In Utero
5. Illmatic
6. OK Computer
7. Velvet Underground and Nico
8. Thriller
9. No Title as at 13th February 2024, 28, 340 dead
10. Wish you were here

Top three could be in any order really, depending on the day. Doolittle drops a little bit because I think Surfer Rosa might be the better album.

1. Marshall Mathers LP (Eminem)
2. Illmatic (Nas)
3. good kid, m.A.A.d city (Kendrick Lamar)
4. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Kanye West)
5. Random Access Memories (Daft Punk)
6. To Pimp A Butterfly (Kendrick Lamar)
7. Discovery (Daft Punk)
8. The Doors (The Doors)
9. Thriller (Michael Jackson)

Round 5 getting hate but Hybrid Theory was a seminal album for LP and nu metal as a genre. Marshall Mathers turned Eminem from a star into a superstar and Whatever People Say I Am... put Arctics on the map. Haven't heard the other two.

But saying that, I don't really listen to these anymore so maybe it's a longevity thing.

Nevermind - Nirvana
Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino - Arctic Monkeys
In Utero - Nirvana
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What Im Not - Arctic Monkeys
Abbey Road - The Beatles
Is This It - The Strokes
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
Never Mind the Bollocks - Sex Pistols
The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem
