RedCafe's 100 best players in the world 2019 | Discussion Thread

Over the past couple of years I've barely watched any Italian or Spanish football so my list would be ridiculously Premier League/Champions League biased.

I still don't think McTominay would make my top 50 though.

Is the Bundesliga suddenly a terrible league or something?

Lewandowski is the best striker in the world atm. Maybe even the worlds ‘current’ finest player yet and people are ranking players like De Ligt and De Jong higher.

The Ballon D’Or voting was seriously strange too when Ronaldo got 10x the amount of votes as Lewandoski who had a better season overall. The season so far is not even a competition between the two yet I bet Ronaldo will still manage more votes.

Lewa is playing like the player Ronaldo used to be a few years back. Lethal in front of goal.

It's always like that with players from Bundesliga. Right now Lewandowski is a top 3-5 player for sure. But most people over here will just rank him somewhere between 6-20 just because they 'hear' he is playing decent, but never watch him play.

Without spoiling the final results, he's definitely been recognised but whether that is down to people ranking him as they hear he's decent like you said, or whether they watch him is debatable.

There are roughly 42 lists, so there'll be some names that are way out on what people would think is an overall ranking of the 100 best players, but the top 10-25ish look about right. Ideally there'd be 80+ submissions but there isn't that level of interest.
