The most shit one for me is probably Reanne Evans. Who, as the only female pundit on the circuit, seems to pop up on all the channels. Certainly up / down there challenging with the worst anyway.

Jak Jones has no right being here tbh, absolutely atrocious performance. Commentators doing a nice thing saying it's nerves. Both the black off it's spot and the yellow are appalling attempts, "pressure" aside.

Last year Brecel fluked his win (predicted he'd disappear without a whimper during his "defence") and now this guy.

Been such a weird tournament with a really low standard in comparison to other years, lots of the established players losing form or going out early.
 
We can all turn over to United now….within 10 minutes you’ll all gain a new appreciation for these lads’ accuracy with a spherical object
 
For me Jones getting to the final comes down to these tight pockets. Rather than increasing the skill level and forcing the cream to rise to the top, it’s made frames scrappy and amplified the more cagey, safety first approach where sneaking a 30 and a 40 to win frames is enough to inch by.
 
Congrats Wilson always liked him albeit he is quite dull.

So nice to see another first timer win the worlds. Massive achievement.
 
Well done and all but the standard was poor. Both of them lost their bottle.
 
Well done Kyren, chuffed for him. Was rooting for him as I figured it’d be horrible to lose the world final twice. Could see how much it meant to him, nerves definitely played a part and the sheer relief at getting over the line was clear to see. Always nice to see a new world champion and he’s as deserving as any.

Credit to Jones, too. I didn’t really warm to him, but as a qualifier to get to the final is some achievement. To hold it together and not completely capitulate after going 7-0 down was equally impressive. He may never manage a run like that again, but he’ll never forget this week regardless. If he could have made it 17-15 it would have become squeaky bum time.

Happy for Wilson, met him at an exhibition a few years back at a working men’s club. Came across as a really nice bloke, stayed and chatted with loads of people afterwards, having selfies, signing autographs. I think he’ll be a better champion than Brecel was- in that he’ll be harder to beat.
 
There's two Q School tournaments over the next couple of weeks, with the first one starting today.

For the first time in ages I'm not really cheering on anyone in particular, as my recent past preferences are all currently on tour for the next year or two: Liam Davies, Stan Moody, Ben Mertens, Julian Leclercq, Alexander Ursenbacher (last year).

I'd quite like to see some of the young European players qualify - Artemijs Zizins, Iulian Boiko, Florian Nuissle. Or some that fell off the Tour this year like Emery and Cahill. But I'm not supporting any of them in the same way as I did the other players I listed when they were trying to qualify (and how I'll probably be next year with Moody and Ursenbacher again, unless they have a very good second year on the tour!)
 
Artemijs Zizins has so far won the first three rounds 4-0, so hasn't dropped a frame yet!

Unfortunately he plays the winner of Iulian Boiko and Andres Petrov next (currently 2-1 to Boiko and the game that's live on YouTube*).

I hadn't realised that Zizins, Boiko and Florian Nuessle were all in the same section of the draw so only one, at most, can qualify for the main tour in this event. They're also in the same section as the very experienced Mark Joyce (who's been on the tour the last 18 years), so he's a big rival for them.

*EDIT: Boiko won 4-1. So it's Boiko v Zizins in the 4th round. A shame they're playing each other but really hope that game is on YouTube.

Boiko v Zizins Is the match being shown on the WST YouTube channel for anyone interested.

EDIT: Zizins won 4-2. An enjoyably match but one where I didn't want either to lose!

Unfortunately, Zizins will now play the very experience Mark Joyce in the 5th (penultimate) round. So that's going to be a very tough match.

Artemijs Zizins beat Mark Joyce 4-2 in the penultimate round tonight. Which means he plays either Florian Nuessle or Kayden Brierley in the final round tomorrow - the winner getting a 2 year Tour card.

I'd never seen Zizins play until earlier this year - I think he's 17, soon turning 18 - when I saw him in those tournaments in Sarajevo (Liam Davies won the U21 one to get on the Tour). I really like his attacking style, and he's a very good potter. Though he's raw and needs to tighten up his cue ball control and safety play.

I'm hoping he wins. Though Nuessle has been there or thereabouts for a few seasons now so I wouldn't mind him seeing him on the Tour either.

EDIT: Zizins will be playing Brierley tomorrow. Winner gets the Tour card.
