RedCafe Malicious Advert?

It certainly does sound like it could be something on your end. I doubt it's related to ads. Do a virus scan on your computer?

It's just happening here which is why I thought it might be due to something related to ads. I use the Xenforo forum on another site but it doesn't happen there nor does anything remotely similar happen on any other site, just the caf.

On my Iphone i tried to come onto redcafe this morning and it wouldn't allow me to access the site unless i put in login details. Obviously i didn't put anything in as it could have been another malicious ad. I kept closing it and it worked after 4 or 5 times but not sure if that happens again if it's dodgy or not.

The site was undergoing maintenance at the time, so nothing to worry about. I'm looking into improving the notification message when that is happening.

Malicious in another kind of way: there is a chelsea advert on top of the home page with a bloke on a lawn mower...

Is nobody else getting the Chelsea ad/ picture?
Yup, I am. It's infuriating and malicious to the eye as you've said. I'd rather have ads leading to adult sites than to whatever the heck that Chelsea thing was.

With regards to these ads, I'd recommend getting Weblock for the iPhone/Android. It was free a couple weeks ago, not sure about now, but now I've switched it on, I no longer get ads on my phone anymore. Not just on the Caf but on other sites and even on your apps.

Just got this.

I was in the SFW hot people thread then pressed the general button on the bottom of the screen to get back to the general when this popped up.

Not sure if it's my phone or the cafe

Guys can you please try the steps I listed and then check if ads still popup

These seem to be push ads really

Also, you might try switching to Tapatalk free for browsing redcafe - much better than the browser experience

The push ads stopped for me as soon as Niall removed those adds...
Ok I've removed a bunch of mobile ads - please let me know if this fixes it?
I havent found anything using any scanners on my phone.

When I get the chance I'll follow your steps though.

Argh, just got the bastard in the entertainment forum. Oh well will have to follow DN's advice. I still don't think it's the phone

If that's the case, then it's not the phone @rcoobc
Edit you are still getting them it seems

Anyway no harm in checking out the ad scanners etc, you would be surprised at the amount of adware we have in well known apps

Anyone else keep getting sent to the Apple store to an app called Game of War - Fire Age? I've never even seen the app before, but last couple of days I've come on the forum a few times and immediately been transferred to the App Store with that game offered to me for download.

Are you on an iPad?
If so I get the same, I think it's something to do with the Safari

I just got the App Store thing as well but it took me to the William Hill app. There were no William Hill ads on the page from what I saw and I certainly didn't click the as that was there.

Yeah I got that too earlier, not sure what triggered that, looking into it.

What page were you on when it happened?

Home page. It had the ad for football gloves on if that helps.

Thanks, I was on the homepage too when it happened.

I've made some changes to the ad code. Please let me know if it happens again and on what page.

@Niall probably just coincidence, but this also started happening to me on another forum a couple of days ago, immediately after they'd installed tapatalk.

Hmm, sounds like a coincidence, Tapatalk has been running on here for ages without a problem but I'll investigate that as well.

I'd seen that, but also this, which points at the way the ad is installed...

It's annoying, it happens to me on a few other websites as well.

Has this happened again for anyone?

@Niall I haven't really used my phone for the Caf today so I don't know. I'll check tomorrow while I am at work, it was fine all of yesterday after the first time though.

Yeah, just did a thread on this in general, sorry.

Been getting these system style pop up messages. Usually about 'clean your android' or something to that effect.

I'll take a screen shot next time it happens. I'm on android s4, using the stock browser. Happens without clicking on screen near ads or anything like that.

Can you let me know exactly what page you were on if it happens again? Also, if you can take screenshots of the ads on the page when it happens that would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Think I took a screen shot of this the other day

Aye, I have a couple of pics of this

Yeah I had them on the Newbies a few times, just thought it was my phone being a penis.
