I was actually surprised other bowlers got picked before him. Akram I could understand because he's the only other class allrounder (though thats a debate with a batting average of only 22) in the draft but the others?

Why worry...i'd say setting aside Kallis who's obviously one of a kind, the rest of the top 15 or so are fine choices and having one or the other is not going to make a huge difference to the end result. Of course, if its a personal favorite, thats another matter.

My first pick would have been Warne since I reckon will swing matches a lot for voters. Second would have been Lara and after that I was thinking Waugh since captaincy will be important as well.

It takes all kinds I guess...for me Kallis should always be first pick because you're getting a top 5 batsman and top 20 bowler. A 12 man team really.
From there, for the rest of the top 10 (maybe even 15) picks for me, its much of a muchness. All genuine greats and should counterbalance each other.
Kallis was going to be my first pick for the same reasons you pointed out Red-Indian.

Basically I was just hoping that Gilchrist, Kallis, Akram and Warne would drop to fifth, and well all but one did. As much as I love the better batters in there, personally preferred these as it allows me a tad more freedom.
