There should be a draw for semis as well, would be more fun that way.Its 4 groups. Each plays the other in the group. Winner of the group plays the semis. Group A vs Group D winner. B vs C winner.

That was the plan I thought. And heh.. had the monday feeling today...Wednesday crappy, Wednesday.
And can we have concurrent matches? Would save a lot of time.
shouldnt we have 2 teams progressing from a group to a QF? Weeks of effort put into this.
They will add alot more matches to this, Varun. In any case, each team is guaranteed 2 matches each. That's the max we can promise.

It'l just add 4 matches IL. After having done such an extensive draft, i dont see why 4 extra matches/days will be such a big issue.
Anyways, am fine with it if thats what the majority want.
Starting on friday might not be optimal. Vote difference will matter here so it is important that same number of people get to vote in every match upMatch day 1 will be Friday. I need all 4 teams to start working on their angles. I'm PMing them for confirmation.

I have no idea how you'll manage with 2 teams qualifying from one group. That'll make it 5 semi-finalists.
It'll go from 2 matches to decide the finalist to 9. By the end, you'll have 4 or 5 people voting because everybody else will lose interest.

And if you are looking for a different idea, I have one but it doesn't involve groups. We recently finished a draft down in the newbies that had 13 teams. So we had straight knockouts. That is to say we had 6 regular games in the first knockout round, and the best loser out of those 6 games played the 13th team (based on vote percentage). And then again, we had 3 QFs, and the best loser out of the 3 played the 7th player. Then we got the 4 semi finalists.
So basically it involved 7 pre quarters, 4 quarter finals, 2 semi finals and a final, which adds up to 14 games in total. I personally am not a big fan of having groups. Makes the whole thing redundant after a while. Probably you could pitch this up in the thread and see what others say.
Also, there is one problem in this method, that is since we don't know who the best loser is till all the games of the round are done, players have to wait to pick players from the losing teams till we know who the best loser is. This part was a little complicated but all went very nicely in the end.
Basically what was done was once we knew who the best loser was, rest of the teams picked players from the teams they beat. Now say X was the best loser, and Y is the 13th player who will play him and Z was the one who beat him earlier. So two cases : if X beats Y, Z picks a player from Y and then X picks a player from Y. If Y beats X, whoever beat X by a bigger margin between Y and Z picks a player first. That was the only difficult part.
See what others say.
