Yea, I'd say that's a hell of a risk.

Not really. My 4 bowlers are McGrath, Fleming, Ajmal and Razzaq. Pathan, Dilshan and Ranatunga will share the 5th bowler slot. He is a useful pinch hitter at number 8 who I can send up in case the innings is going very well. He can be given full 10 overs on a swinging wicket. Its players at their peak isn't it?

Not a risk at all I feel. My quota was up or I would've probably gone for him. One of the more naturally talented players IMO. Lost his way a bit but if we take his 2004-05 peak he's right up there with the best all rounders in that time.

Never really rated him as a batsman. It was just the Indian media who wanted us to believe we had finally discovered an all rounder. He was a good bowler at his best though, thats for sure. The peak wasnt for much long though. still a good pick considering its the final round.

Kirsten
Amla
Watson
Misbah
Hooper
Kemp
Akmal
Kumble
Anderson
Kasprowicz
Murali

Thoughts?

Is exactly how I felt as far a natural talent goes. But I was unsure what people thought of him.

@Varun: His bowling figures are great for 3 years. Though 2004 to 2006. And his batting is more than adequate for a number 8

Yes ofcourse, as i said, great value as your 11th pick. I was just responding to Donadol's post saying he was right up there as an allrounder as i never felt he was a good batsman. Just hyped by the indian media. Good bowler and definitely good as a no 8, no doubt.

Think you could've gone for someone better than Jimmy Anderson. Don't rate him at all as a odi bowler.

Varun: You need to tweak that batting order a bit. Akmal can bat middle order IIRC. Put him at 4 or 5. Kemp seems a bit high up. I think that quite a strong unit. I'd completely forgotten about Kemp. He adds a nice dimension and balance to your team.

Yea, but I think if it was just players at their peak, we'd be picking players who had one off or 2 extremely good seasons. People are going to keep players' overall career in mind and how long that peak lasted.

Great top order, love the two spinners, but that is a REALLY long tail

I bat till 7. Should be enough considering the quality in my top order i think.

I think he's fine. good swing bowler. nothing great in ODIs though, i agree.

Should i put Akmal at 6 and Kemp at 7? Dont see the point of putting akmal ahead of the likes of hooper or misbah personally.

Yep. Not wrong. Like I said, I hope to use him as a 5th bowler with Dilshan.

No. sorry. I was wrong about that. That 6 and 7 thing should be kept fluid. If you're in the 40th over and a wicket falls, you send Kemp. Otherwise Akmal.

Just going with 3 genuine bowlers is a big risk. Asking too much of the likes of collingwood astle etc really. Too many part timers there.

I'll take Grant Flower. 6000 runs and 100 wickets.

David Boon
Haddin
Grant Flower
Younis Khan
Arvinda
Micheal Hussey
Imran Khan
Afridi
Ambrose
Morkel
Srinath

Five Genuine bowlers with the likes of Grant Flower and Da Silva more than handy bowlers with both of them having more than 100 wickets.

Sorry if I keep doing this, but you need to change your order too, I think. Aravinda loved the new ball coming onto the bat. He is wasted at 5. But that's just me.

Let Flower open with Boon. Put Aravinda 3 and Haddin at 6 after Hussey.

Hmm, yeah I'll change the batting order in the matches. Just a rough draft at the top of my head.

Crappy picks Umar Akmal

Depends on how you plan to use Harris mate. I'd go for the part time, because after 4 wickets you currently have Harris coming in, and that seems a little high, but I don't know, as your middle order is very strong.

I'd like to keep the 12th man round btw.. One more day ain't going to kill anybody!

warne, steyn and gillespie means 30 overs are taken care of.

Sehwag, Duminy, Ganguly and Collingwood can take care of the rest.

Dunno about going with 20 part time overs in a draft. Think that could hurt you. I'd pick another bowler as 12th man if you are against a good batting team..

Posting a PM sent by Aldo. He wants feedback on his team: Here are his thoughts:

I would also like to vote for the 12th pick. I think it makes it fair for those who are down in the order by having even number of rounds.

My team :

Adam Gilchrist
Mark Waugh
Richie Richardson
Mohammed Azharuddin
Michael Bevan
Javed Miandad
Chris Cairns
Umar Gul
Fanie De Villiers
Courtney Walsh
Ajantha Mendis

Also, for the Miandad pick, he was instrumental in the 92 World Cup, scoring half centuries in most games including the semi final and final.
