new episodes on dave apparently over xmas...

part of me is sooo looking forward to this...:)

sadly im 99% sure it will probably be pants :mad:
 
Over xmas? They're on this weekend aren't they?

I'm not holding out to much hope as I didn't really like the last few series and Norman Lovett is not making an appearance which is shite.

It should be ok. But obviously it won`t hit the heights of Season`s 2-4.
 
Just like shooting stars (new series in autumn by the way!) I'm more worried it's going to be shit than happy it's back.
 
feck Shooting Stars. They should do Vic Reeves Big Night Out again. That was a good show.

First two series were fantastic - proper cult TV

Series 3-6 were very good in parts

After that it was pretty tired but still made me laugh on occasion

I better start buying some presents in

i'm looking forward to Shooting Stars more than Red Dwarf. Got a feeling i'll forget to watch this as I rarely watch the cable channels

Agreed. The first 2 seasons were excellent, it derailed in many ways when they left Red Dwarf. I had a thing for that Kanchanski though in series 5? I'll watch the new episodes but I think they'll be crap.
 
Im a little curious does this take off from season 6 (ie Rimmer still a hologram) or is it from the end of the show ie season 8?

I agree with most season 7 and 8 were pants compared to the others but the first 2 eps of season 7 were good not brilliant but not as rubbish as other eps in season 7 and 8.

I dont know i always thought season 6 was perhaps the best season! I do fear for this special but many have said that there looks to be a tv series spin off in the works so it may supprise us
 
Some episodes were absolutely amazing. I hope its back better than ever, but in all seriousness I doubt it'll ever reach those heights again.

I thought the same thing when i saw it! Overall i wasnt too impressed with it, on the bright side they've taken it off from season 6 and found red drawf after they lost it (it had to be after as Rimmer was a hard light hologram) - i dont know if they explained that at the start because i missed the beginning. But overall it seemed to lack something and can only hope the other eps are better, btw where did that lady hologram come from?

I'm not a big fan of canned laughter, so it didn't bother me. That said, I didn't think much of it. It's too slick, like the last two series. I liked the original low budget feeling. Oh and the new hologram is silly. Not sure we needed a new character(however fit).

Hope the next two are much better. But I'm holding my breath.

Makes sense they lost the "red drawf" at the end of season 5, Rimmer became a hard light hologram in season 6 as they were looking for the red drawf. So it had to be sometime after season 6 and they actually found the ship, because if the story is meant to take place after season 7 and 8 then why is Rimmer a hologram? Or more to the point why is Hard light hologram Rimmer still with them because he went off in season 7 to act as "Ace Rimmer"... God i watch red drawf way too much

I thought they went into a parallel universe after the last series. Rimmer stayed behind, I think. But it's been 9 years since, so Kochanski could've died naturally and the ship could've ressurected Rimmer, again.

Never thought of that! That could be the case, but in my defense i never actually saw the last episode :nervous:
 
yep, didn't laugh once....well, maybe chuckled a bit at the testicles bit, but other than that, not much gwanin
 
Shit I missed it, although the reviews aren't good! Didn't think it'd be good to be honest, even with Big Suze. I'll still give it a go though.
 
I thought it was quite good to be honest, sneezing through a sieve to save water ironing was feckin genius.
 
Got to say this second ep was better then the first one and actually made me smile a few times

Yeah, a couple of funny scenes. But they're clearly not in the real world. They keep mentioning seasons 9 & 10. Also have you noticed how the Cat keeps on leaving origami flowers(?) behind. At least I hope it's not real, because that would make no sense at all. Anyway, I still miss them all being on their own. That is the whole point of Red Dwarf.
