Get anything by The Bravery because they're awesome. I prefer their second album to their first though. They're better than the Killers at being an indy New Order.

Neurosis - Not the early stuff, too hardcore.
Jesu
Katatonia
A Perfect Circle


Not metal, but i`d also recommend The Mars Volta from a Prog point of view.
