Are there any?

Just on Twitter, RedCafe and reading through the papers, and the mood around the club has darkened considerably since the Swansea defeat - the confidence that had built up has been completely shattered and I don't think many people gave faith in the club's ability to put things right.

I'm 26 and have never seen the club in such a poor state - squad is awful, the club's administrators are bumbling idiots and our rivals are busy strengthening.

These are a big couple of weeks coming up. I'm struggling to come up with many reasons to be positive about our prospects. People keep saying two or three players could be transformative, but the club seems totally incapable of signing anyone.

Reasons for cheer, anyone?

LVG is pretty much the only the reason why I'm not losing it or else I would be bricking it.

Nope non at all at this moment.
Well maybe one, that we have LvG as manager.

Apart from that let's wait and see what we are able to pull off in the last 2 weeks but I won't hold my breath.

All you can hope for that this philosophy of Van Gaal sinks in.

I'm sure LVG has been given assurances. I'm concerned he might not stay around if the club doesn't match his ambitions?

Our youth academy is still working.

If I'm being honest, I think a couple of the younger lads are being over promoted - their presence is more indicative of how we're really poor in a couple of areas, rather than how good they are.

Why are fans being so fecking impatient. It is irksome to see fans lose their shit and targeting everyone under the sun for our failure to lure players. We have had far worse before under fergie and his famous " no quality in the market" transfer windows.Chill the feck out and stop clamoring for big name signings.I rather see youngsters given a chance than spunking 40mill over a player and regretting it.

RVP coming back to bail us out.

Januzaj, Phil Jones, Rafael coming back from injury. If Carrick was 2 years younger, him coming back from injury in a couple of weeks would´ve been a huge positive, now I'm not sure if he will ever be able to regain form.

Not much to be positive at the moment, especially not with the retarded SOB in charge of player transfers.

LVG is our only saving grace if we fail to make any futher signings, if he gets the team playing the the football he wants then it might be enough to secure a Europa league spot, but from yesterdays evidence even that won't be an easy feat.

We waited years for the club to buy a competent midfielder. YEARS. What an impatient bunch. We watched 3 of our best defenders leave, and we haven't replaced them before the season started. Impatient. Of course we are.

LvG.

Although I fear the possibility of Glazers/Woodward expecting wonders and blaming him if things don't improve instead of blaming themselves.
I want LvG here at least for 2-3 years as he is the best coach available in regards to improving (young) players and teaching the basics perfectly. And it would be a huge mistake and extremely depressing if he was sacked after some months or a season!

We've had poor windows in the past, true, but we could always console ourselves with the fact that we still had a class squad in place. We're now in a position where we lack depth and quality.

I don't think it's impatient to be annoyed that we've signed the least players in the league after a woeful season last time. We should have been quick out the blocks this summer.

We might end up playing better football in a few months. That's about it.

I feel lower than I have ever felt about this club and a balls barely been kicked. I don't trust the owners and Wormwood to sort us out.

Only positive at the moment is that we still while the window is still open we still have a chance to do what we should have done years ago.

LvG will develop Januzaj and Welbeck this season and Herrera will prove to be a good addition, but other than that things look pretty bleak and if we don't get some deals done then I don't see us getting top 4.

Loads of young British and homegrown lads who genuinely care for the club. It's easy to get frustrated about transfer ineptitude but the fact remains that we have a solid platform for building another top side. If and when we throw some money about at 2 or 3 top draw players, we could be in for a treat. Hard to be patient but good things come to those who wait.

Oh nice.
Still good to see guys having the attitude that got us were we were last year and look to be now as well.

I agree.

It takes time to re-build, and the positive is we have the right man in charge to do it. As muppets we all want signings but the claims of LVG that he needs time to access the squad before spending are valid and in fact quite sensible. Sure, the situation isn't ideal with the squad, but it will take time to fix it and re-build in a pragmatic way. Panic buying is not the answer.

I'm off on holiday for two weeks tomorrow. Couldn't have picked a better time to get away to be honest.

Panic buying isn't the answer, but was no work being done this summer to identify what we needed? How much assessment time does the club need to realise what the ridiculously obvious problems are?

Then why did the club reach that stage again? AGAIN after last year, when we also failed to get our targets in early only to sign absolute feck all and Fellaini on deadline day.

It really depends on your perspective. If the only way for you to feel positive is to be the dominant side in the game and have every chance of winning the title, then I fear you will be disappointed. The oil money that Chelsea and then City brought into the league has completely transformed the dynamics. Simply put, they have spent exorbitant sums of money to field full 25 man squads of proven international players that are at or near the highest level. In the meantime, we have done things "The United Way" and tried to find value for our money and look to promote our youth players. It hasn't worked well for us. Our squad has been in decline since the core of our class of 92 has retired. The recent departures of Vidic, Evra and Rio have left us with a group of players, other than Rooney, who really haven't been the core of a winning side. LVG said it himself when he first assessed the players we had on the books by stating the squad was "broken". There is no easy fix. Management either tries to buy a new squad with all of our marketing income, or we trudge along scrapping it out with the likes of Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham, our closest rivals in terms of quality, for the vaunted 4th CL spot.

I don't know what the answer is. I personally would like us to continually have some of our youth players come through. It feels better, more organic, more satisfying as a club. However, I am also in the camp that we need a few more buys this summer to try and get us on a trajectory for CL football. Ultimately, in the modern game, so much depends on how much money you have, and the proceeds from the CL, both from the tourney itself and from the added Adidas money, is too big to pass up. Might as well spend that money now because as long as we get 4th, we will get it all back and then some.

Don't be too negative. You are a fan at the greatest club in the world. I don't want an oil sheikh to take us over and turn us into Chelsea and City. Be proud of our history and what we mean to the game. We have a stature and romanticism that these oil clubs simply cannot buy.

Yeah, let's throw the kids in at the deep end when the pressure is at it's highest with no leaders to guide them. Good idea that.

I'm always positive when it comes to United. Just because we lost one game doesn't mean much. We lost the opener two seasons ago, didn't turn out too badly, last year we won comfortably and it meant feck all. Yes, there are big problems with this current squad, but the poor recruitment didn't start with Woodward and Moyes. Gill and Ferguson signed poor players themselves or passed up players, which would have helped quite obviously. We seem to be obsessed with signing the right players instead of just improvements.

I'm actually still confident we bring in decent players, maybe not what everyone wants, but still better than what we have. Van Gaal is a great manager, he will adapt quickly, we will get resuts and play better football. Wilson is someone to be hopeful about. There will be changes and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm pretty sure work was being done, but I do believe LVG when he stated he wanted to assess the players before doing anything. I think our perceptions are partly clouded by false internet rumours. All this preparing bids bollocks implies we are dithering, when in fact, it's just a made up story about a player we're not even in for.

The new matchday forum is pretty cool.

These are about all I can come up with.

I do fear for how long LVG will what to stick around with the club being as it is, but I'm more fearful of the likes of De Gea, Mata and RVP wanting out soon as a footballers' career is so short.

You'd rather throw the kids in regardless their qualities than go and spend money on the best players that'll get us challenging again? Easy one to please you are.

A bird shat in Ashley Young's mouth

 That's cheered me up.

Positive outlook is we still have 2 weeks left of the transfew window, which means that there is still hope of strengthening the squad. A big signing could lift the squad instantly; just look at the impact Ozil had at the start of Arsenal's season, really lifted them.
