I'm starting to feel suspiciously optimistic about this, don't ask me why.
    It`s alcohol isn`t it?

Why not also throw-in other unlikely fantasies like "Hojlund remembers his form from last season Champions League and scores a hat-trick"

Alas, the truth is that we have 90% chance of losing this game because we are shit
I agree about the 90%. I still stand to my point.

These have scored 23 goals in 26 league games. They make us look like a swashbuckling attacking outfit in comparison.

I'm sure we'll find a way to gift them one or two, but they're probably not going to twat us.

No one twats us under Amorim, to be fair.

They average less than 1 goal per game in the league.

Sociedad have been goal shy this season, but their home form improved a bit during February. They scored 12 in 4 before losing 1-0 to Madrid.

5 of those came against Midtjylland though, so we should be alright.

    Right?

I am starting to despise any time United kick off. I start off optimistic that this will be the new dawn, but then we get 2 hours of football misery usually :(

Yeah by now I really should have adjusted to the knowledge that the football is almost certainly gonna make me miserable but all those years of being good have me hardwired to expect enjoyment, despite all contemporary evidence.

I`m starting to miss the days we could be a little bit flexible in our approach and could go for a long balls for Rashford tactics in games like these. Could have worked in our favour in this game. Now we are most certainly looking forward to very much of the same as all winter.

As mentioned, they have similiar issues to us. Hopefully they play us on reputation and it's a disgusting 0-0 / 1-1.

I know we are shit at OT but the crowd will be bang up for that.

fecking Hojlund. Zero other options on the bench though

For some reason I'd forgotten that Dorgu can play in this one. Feeling better about it now - himself and Garnacho linked up well until they were sent/taken off the last day,

The amount of ruddy 0-0 draws we've had against Spanish teams in European competition over the years & with both teams not scoring much this season does kind of point towards a bore scoreless draw.

We can do the same with Garnacho to be fair. He's not as fast but they both nearly always lose the ball anyway so same same.

How depressing the state of that bench. 2 goalkeepers, 3 defenders (2 kids and one running his contract down), 2 defensive midfielders (one with no legs and running his contract down) and 5 empty seats.

3 attackers with 1 goal between them in near 60 games and not a single option to mix it up with them.

I'd have started Eriksen - he's good in Eurpe, and it would mean we actually have an attacker to bring off the bench.

If you are sick of watching Hojlund, don't watch the fecking game. 10 same posts ffs, "moan Hojlund this, moan Hojlund that". Same old shit every match day thread.

    That injury list

    Bayandir
    Evans - Maguire - Martinez - Shaw
    Mount - Ugarte - Mainoo
    Diallo -

Throw in Obi and someone else and it would give our XI a game

In fairness I don't see the benefit of playing him at all, it's just cruel on the lad at this point.
