Real Madrid need to get ready for a terrible season | It’s happening

How did Beckham perform in those years?
Heh. Wasn't actually bad, but people expected some incredible player that he never was, plus the whole situation of the team and club was broken. Was a key player in 2006/07 actually

If I had to bet today I would say that Mourinho will be the coach next season.
The club have to wake up a little in the market and accelerate the sale of veterans

:drool::drool::drool:

Oh this will be great. So much drama. Also sell us Ramos too.

A settled world class back four and also top midfielder option, that Real Madrid team suit Mourinho.
I hope he comes to real and bring Lukaku with him.

This is a recipe for disaster but I hope it happens..

Real have seemingly started on buying younger players instead of galaticos over the last few years and that manager doesn't have a great youth record.

Also the fact that this bunch of players has won so much recently means that they will hardly buy into his methods.

I can see him lasting for a season or less. Like Van Gaal with Barca in 2002.
Yes, of course. The only scenario I would like is one in which he adapts to those young players, with the task of maturing them, being able to discern who is an elite player and who should play for Valencia.
However the most realistic thing is to sell them, or send them on loan, and bring his list of players

Real Madrid have the money to pay for the best managers in the world, and I would'nt be surprised if they soon (most probably in the summer), will try hard to get one of the 3 most attractive managers in EPL : Pochettino, Klopp or Guardiola.

The squad is nowhere near good enough. Players have the reputations they have because of what they've won and massive amounts of media and fan-made propaganda, not because of how they actually play. Last year Lucas Vasquez was a brilliant option to have, Bale would have no problem replacing Ronaldo's goals, Asensio was a future Ballon D'Or winner, Isco was actually a big candidate for a while, Modric freaking won it...

Perez has made shit decision one after the other, it's incredible how badly managed Madrid have been in the past 2 years. It's like he got to 2016/17, had the club's best season ever and then decided to feck it all up one piece at a time.

I'm not sure what the Pogba situation is in the longer term if he is not here for long, I'd love for us to get Isco. He's woefully under utilised there.

That's what happens when you don't replace 40 goals a season striker :nervous:

Would love to see them in the Europa League next season. Might start watching their games now.

Real are weird when it comes to hiring managers. Benitez, Lopetegui, Solari...

One of if not the biggest club in world football and they go for some real dodgy head coaches.

Ronaldo covered the cracks. He gave everybody a 10% boost in aura.

You’re basically going through the same thing we did post Ronaldo, but we had Fergie to cover it up.

Agree with above, taking Ronaldo out of any team and you are losing about 25% of the team's ability. He's a leader, a genius and one of the two greatest goalscorers of all time.

I still wouldn't back against them winning the Champions League, they save their best for the competition and teams still panic when playing away to them.

Ronaldo helped cover the most overrated midfield in history IMO.
Not enough goals or forward thrust yet Ronaldo covered for it all. Put that midfield in any other top club and it wouldn't be good enough.
Fans may blame hunger etc but now sides can step up and press them in the centre of the park because they've got nothing to fear coming the other way.
A super human that can turn any pass into an assist covers a lot of flaws.

Eh?

Kroos and Modric ain’t as good as Xavi or Iniesta but they still good. The Madrid attack is a shambles. Bale who is a sick note and doesn’t do anything. Benzema who has been shocking for years. Vasquez shouldn’t even be at the club. They haven’t even got one consistent attacker that they can rely on.

They are saving all their pennies for Jose.

People were starting to put them above the Barca midfield though. It went into overdrive when we were told why they didn't need Pogba.
They're a top midfield but Casemiro was never one of the best DM in Europe and you couldn't play Modric and Kroos in a Superman less side due to their lack of goal threat.
All my opinion of course. They didn't need to have the answers to questions that other sides had because of Ronaldo up top.

Have they spent much money in the last 5 years?

I can't remember the last huge transfer they made.

They’ve strangely settled for mediocrity this season, which is very unlike them. Their transfer business (or lack of) in recent seasons has been unlike them, too. You’d imagine they’ll go hammer and tong for the likes of Neymar, Eriksen, Hazard and (yep) Pogba in the next year or so. They have to.

Their transferwindow last summer was atrocious. We really tend to overrate people in high-level positions, because why else are they in those positions? Must be because they're smart as feck right?

Perez and his advisors should have seen this coming. You can't just sign Mariano Diaz and expect him, Bale, Benzema & Co to replace the 40+ goals Ronaldo scored among them.

Can't wait to see Jose rock up at the Bernabeu next season

Will be even funnier when he's followed by Ivan Perisic.

I was the crazy fanboy for saying this for the past 2 years though... It's not even that Casemiro-Kroos-Modric are bad at scoring goals, they're bad at creating any sort of problems in attack. Add in Isco and the problem gets even bigger, they're great for controlling the game and recycling possession but not for much else. Then it was the fullbacks who got an unusually big amount of creative iniciative and they ended up crossing and crossing and crossing.

The midfield got plenty of credit while Ronaldo and even Benzema didn't get enough of it for making that midfield trio be possible.

Comparisons between Busquets-Xavi-Iniesta and Casemiro-Kroos-Modric were a complete joke, they're easily two or levels below that.
