Television Reacher (Amazon Prime) - Season 3 - Feb 20th

Mindless fun entertainment. You certainly don't watch because it makes you think philosophically about life, the universe, and everything.
Can you have a word with more senior staff please? You are not supposed to bump something from 10 months ago.

Many thanks.

Why not? They just released a trailer for the new season that's coming

Buzzing for this as Persuader was one of my favourite Reacher books. Feb 20th.

season 2 was pretty boring and he didn’t take his top off enough.

I’ve just done a full rewatch of both series to date. The first season is based on my favourite book and I think it’s excellent. The second series on a rewatch isn’t as bad as people made out, I just think it was the wrong book to use for season 2 to give Reacher his team of sidekicks. Reacher is best when he’s a lone wolf type character and they should’ve built up to that by having him do some of those stories first.

I’m not sure shoehorning Neagley into every series is the right decision either but I can understand why they’re doing it with the Neagley spin off series coming up.

Season 3 episodes 1-3 are out today. I’m going to watch this later. It’s reviewed really well which is good.

Watched the first episode of season 3 – really good setup episode!
It’s so good. I’m a bit biased as I love the Reacher books, but the whole vibe, location and house, etc is almost exactly how I pictured it in my head when I read the book.

Shot through all 3 episodes and now I’ve got to wait a week for each one.

It's really good so far!

Same here – not a fan of having to wait for episodes!

Huge Reacher fan but had missed this season coming out and didn’t even know which book it was about.

Binge watched all three last night… good to see they found someone to reflect the size of Paulie.

House location (isolation/coast) seems right.
Any reason they aren’t adapting the books in order?

They're just cherry picking the best stories. The good thing with Reacher is that you can read the books in order for the most part.
This is the best story yet, from what I can tell. The first 3 episodes are far better than anything from seasons 1 and 2.

Have you read the books? Persuader (s3) and Killing Floor (s1) are two of the strongest stories. I hope they do Tripwire next, as that was also good, or there is one where he goes up against the Albanian Mafia in one of the later books, which would translate well to TV.

I haven’t, I’ve heard that it’s totally faithful to the books though, unlike the films. Is that right?

Unlike the last series I’ve enjoyed all the characters in this one. Angel Doll feels like a character right out of a GTA game

They're not totally faithful to the books, Neagley for instance wasn't in either Killing Floor or Persuader, and is only in the books set during Reachers' Army career (those books aren't nearly as good) however they brought her in as a sidekick type character which doesn't happen at all in the books.

Reacher himself is still more like what I pictured when you read the books as a 6ft 5in slab of beef, rather than Tom fecking Cruise.

Oh right, interesting. I assumed she was in season 1’s book and they had to find a way to shoehorn her in after that, as the times she’s cropped up after it have seemed a tad forced. That said, I’ve no idea what her showing up this season leads to yet so I could be way off with that.

Yeah he’s perfectly cast as Reacher. Even without having read the books you can tell he’s miles better suited as this terminator like figure, whereas Cruise just isn’t that.

He's been in his underwear like every episode this season so far. I am here for it.
Anyway Neagly is the one getting the spinoff series I wonder if they will start setting it up here.

I think they already have with her in her Chicago office. I’m sure Reacher will pop up in that as well

Solid start to the season. Hopefully a bit more detective Reacher rather than a cheap Terminator type of protagonist.

Somehow Richtson has become even more wooden as an “actor”. He’s a terminator/underwear model hybrid, who kicks the shit out of people and reads his cue cards. This is peak “Dad TV”.

Seeing as I’m parent in his 40s, still preaching about getting back into shape, I’m 100% all in on this objectively terrible yet compelling show.
