Ray LaMontagne

Massive fan of Ray, me. Seen him live a few times too. Thoroughly recommended.

He's got a new album out this week, as it happens.

By the way, I'm not sure I approve of this whole file-sharing malarkey, when it comes to albums like this. At the end of the day, these folk are artists and deserve to earn a living from what they produce :nono:

Cool, I'll check it out:D

I can't afford to buy it!

Seen him 3 times.... once in a small club in Dublin... I can honestly say that Trouble (album) changed my life....

There's also an unreleased album called One Lonesome Saddle thats excellent...

He's fecking brilliant..... the quality of his albums has a lot to do with his producer Ethan Johns... (also Kings Of Leon producer!)

Ooh, colour me excited, where can I get hold of it?

The first time I saw him, he was so shy he was barely able to face the audience and barely said one word between songs. The last couple of times he was a bit more upbeat.

None of that really matters though, it's all about how powerful his voice is, when you're up close. Proper hairs on the back of the neck stuff. It's one of those gigs where everybody there realises they're in the presence of a special talent and shuts the feck up and lets the music fill the room. Which is fairly unusual these days (one of my many pet hates is the modern trend for ignorant fecks to chatter away throughot a gig)

I downloaded it from a forum a couple of years ago..... the sites gone now... but I'd say if you do a bit of searching you'll find it... great album, very country...

Grrrr grrrrr.......

Was at Iron & Wine in the Olympia a few months ago and the security had to tell a gaggle of women at the back to shut the feck up...

Had a listen to some of his stuff on Youtube. Quality! Cheers smurf.

I was in a pretty shitty place in life about 3 years or so ago and I went to see him and he played this..

I nearly had a heart attack....

He's been through some rough times himself, by all accounts. Which might explain why his lyrics almost always put a lump in my throat, when he's singing live.

The guy has a way with words and no mistake.

Loving that old album by the way. Thanks again. Can't wait to check out the new one. It's released today, I think.

I'm gonna be at the Barbican gig. Despite my whinging post yesterday, I managed to secure a couple of tickets by phoning the box office directly.

Happy days :D
