RAWK goes into Meltdown 21/22 Edition

Not quite sure why Salah is taking all the flak for them. He had most of their best chances while Mane, Diaz and Jota largely did feck all. Sure, you'd like Salah to have actually scored his chances if you were a dipper, but Courtois was excellent and creating chances is better than not doing anything. Still their best player for me.
He was talking about settling a score.

What's the parade they are mentioning?
Are they having a parade for getting 2nd and losing a final?

Yes, and it should be held today being also being the 37th Anniversary of the The Heysel Stadium disaster that occurred on 29 May 1985 when mostly Juventus fans escaping from a breach by Liverpool fans were pressed against a collapsing wall in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, before the start of the 1985 European Cup Final between the Italian and English clubs. 39 people—mostly Italians and Juventus fans—were killed and 600 were injured in the confrontation.

And fourteen Liverpool fans found guilty of manslaughter and each sentenced to six years' imprisonment. The disaster was later described as "the darkest hour in the history of the UEFA competitions".

Woke up still on a high. Nothing sweeter than scouse tears.

They are moving into town as we speak to celebrate the Carabao cup :p

It's amazing how entitled they are all of a sudden. They've got one of the best managers in World football and they're going through a period of unprecedented success and yet they're moaning about the players who brought that success the way we berate our players.
I’m not sure how unprecedented it is tbh? Many teams have finished 2nd and many teams have lost UCL finals. Winning 1 league in 30 years and 1 UCL in last 10 years or so isn’t really unprecedented.

I suppose for Liverpool it's unprecedented in the premier league years for Liverpool to be challenging consistently for the big trophies albeit not winning much.

Looks like the parade is actually happening, I thought it was a wind up but it's happening at 4pm today.

I heard a rumour that some want the Premier League trophy on the bus as they had no chance to parade it during Covid, I hope that's true as it would be hilarious.

To say Real Madrid were undeserving after each of the team’s runs to the final

Greatest team ever my arse.

This is arguably the funniest thing about this. Real had an absolutely murderous run of ties after the group stage whereas the Scousers got to coast through against an Inter side that couldn't even win a weak Serie A, Benfica, and a Villareal team that even we managed to beat twice in the group stages. Even if Liverpool had won the final comfortably they would still not have really deserved it given the flukey fixtures they had.

Can't wait for their "DEFIANT" parade. This means more.

I know that it's RAWK, but what's up with the narrative that Real stole this game? I started watching from the 20th minute or something, but based on what I saw Real did not win undeservingly. They were inches away from being alone on goal 3 or 4 times. They even messed up a 3 on 2 at one stage.

I can only remember Liverpool having 2 good chances in the 70 minutes I watched.

I can see a load of of blues turn out to laugh it these guys, I am stunned it's happening, they probably were so sure of winning the paid a fortune for all sorts of tat and have no option now but to proceed with the Champions parade.

It’s always the same with Klopp teams or anyone that dominates possession and doesn’t win the game, they think they have some god given right to win because they had more of the ball. Defending is a part of football just like attacking is, and Madrid did it better last night. They were impenetrable whereas Trent lost his man - that’s all it takes at this level.

There’s lots of ways to play football, but they all need to involve putting the ball in the net. Some of the excuses they have when it doesn’t go their way are laughable. “Oh it was the wind, the traffic, Man United‘s players getting injured and disrupting our rhythm, the other team for trying to stop us scoring...”.

And Antonio Valencia being offside eight years ago

Aside from Courtois keeping them out on 8 or 9 occasions, making 2 or 3 world class stops they had no chances.

I'm not massively into conspiracy theories in football, but It did feel like something was a bit off last night.
Not sure why VAR didn't check their goal. Looked borderline to me
ave to agree with you. Ancelloti is talking nonsense.
He got incredibly lucky. One of our chances (the Mané one that hit the post, came back out, hit the keeper, and still didn't go in), or half chances go in, or the ball falling kindly to us in the box changes everything, and he is slaughtered by the press for being cowardly, for thinking that Real Madrid couldn't go toe to toe with Liverpool, in a Champions league final.
I'm sorry, but I cannot applaud that type of football. I call it cowardly football- acceptable for 'lesser' teams, not a team like Real Madrid, in a Champions league final.
Higher salt content than the Dead Sea.

He made 1 world class save (Mane), 1 excellent save (Salah), and that’s about it. The rest you’d expect DdG to make which is saying something.

Yeah David de Gea, the keeper famed for his poor shot stopping abilities.

It’s so bizarre when people crowbar shade at our own players like this. It’s like saying “you’d expect James Ward Prowse to score a free kick from there and that’s saying something”. JWP had a lot of weaknesses to his game but nobody in their right mind is going to use him as an example of a player who can’t score free kicks.

So many exscouses and coping.

I wonder if they thought their win back in '19 was deserved when they had 39% possession and 3 shots on target against Spurs? The Lord giveth and The Lord taketh it would seem.

Madrid should have had at least 2 goals. The one that was chalked off was bullshit, I don't care if it's the rules it's the dumbest rule ever. They also had some great counter attack chances but bottled them. Deserving winners for sure.

It's great to see that when the scousers style of play is effectively countered they absolutely cannot stand it. Almost like everyone must play a certain style vs them or it's cheating.

You’re getting it the wrong way round.

The point is, you could have had DdG (or anyone) in between the sticks and you’d have the same result. Meaning Liverpool really didn’t do that much to win the game, and didn’t deserve to.

I don’t buy into the narrative that it was some gk performance for the ages that stopped Liverpool winning.

Apparently they lost because the problems before the game affected the players. So, Madrid didn't have to wait too?

Not sure why you'd bring DDG into it.

He also claimed several corners and high balls that DDG would have been no where near.

It was a superb all round goalkeeping performance.

DdG would struggle with the high balls.

Courtois is an excellent goalie. But they’ll paint this as some monstrous gk performance…when in reality he was very good, as we’re 10 other Real Madrid players. Carlo got his tactics spot on.

Trent does these mistakes many a time.
The 2nd half Real could have scored more and only bad finishing let them down.
Ancellotti came out with very good tactics in the second half and Klopp didn't know how to change his team's tactics.
Pass the ball to Trent and hoof the ball in their defence - is that all they can do ?

Not sure why you'd bring DDG into it.
Especially considering De Gea is insane at making saves. What a weird thing to say. The clarification makes even less sense too “You could have one of the best keepers in the world when it comes to shot stopping in net instead and still have got the same result”

How many did DDG concede against Liverpool this season? How many saves did he make in those games?

Real had a shakey opening 20 mins or so and Courtois kept them in it. Utd were 2 down after 20 mins under similar circumstances twice this season against Liverpool.

Trent just knocks 30 or 40 aimless crosses in all game. If one happens to create a goal there's raving about his Beckham esque delivery. If not, no word about it.
Yet Moyes got pelters for that game with loads of crosses.

That's his job though. That's like saying apart from vincius hr dribbling and scoring Madrid had no chance.
