Benitez was also miles ahead of Fergie (who they said was the only reason we did ok). I asked how the feck were we so much better then and they just said we weren't and that Liverpool lacked luck. They genuinely believe it's been a quarter century or more of purely bad luck for them and good luck for us.

Liverpool talk about their teams that have actually managed a title push this millienium (2009 and 2014) as though they were incredible treble-winning seasons. I saw one fan say he still likes Sterling as we was part of that “special” 2014 season. Which was really a bunch of average players who managed to challenge for the league because it was an open year after Fergie left and they had an utterly sensational Suarez. Yet I’m sure United teams that genuinely won the treble were full of overrated players who would never have got into their special teams of 2014 and 2009.

It's amazing but it's true. Almost winning something counts more than winning everything to them. Weird bunch.
 
The first pen was so blatantly offside it has beggared belief in the aftermath just how widespread pig ignorance of the game has become. Kane was in an offside position as the original pass was made. He was seeking to gain an advantage by being in that offside position and Deli Ali was doing likewise in attempting to thread the ball through to him. By incontrovertible definition Kane was clearly influencing play from the moment Dele Alli spotted him beyond the Liverpool back four. Ergo he was offside and it was incumbant upon the Linesman to rule as such. The fact Lovren attempted to play the ball was merely further unrequired testament to the fact that Kane was influencing the game. The application of the second phase interpretation in this instance, so manifest in the linesman's repeated request for clarification as to whether Lovren had made a deliberate attempt to touch the ball, is a complete irrelevance - albeit one can see how folks not steeped in the game [clearly like the linesman] could arrive at such a ridiculous conclusion because of the poorly worded text of the rules. However, it needs just a modicum of common footballing sense to comprehend that the offside law is not there to be taken advantage of but rather to prevent attackers taking advantage of an offside position to score or attempt to score whilst influencing play from such an offside position. Why else have the fecking thing? Kane's positioning beyond the Liverpool back line falls 100% into that category, Lovren's touch constituting a complete irrelevance to the proper interpretation of the offside ruling.

As for Van Dijk's alleged foul/Lamela's dive. Well this is in exactly the same territory as Calvert-Lewin's in the derby. Brilliantly executed to create the impression of a foul in the box but in reality it is actually a foul by the attacker on the defender, with the attacker jumping into the defender and bouncing off or collapsing as if poleaxed. The authorities have surely got to do something about these manouevres by forensic video examination which is the only way of determining what has taken place. The glib ex-pro pundit analysis of 'there was contact' is pathetic beyond words. There has to be an expose of exactly how the contact came about in order to expose these slimeball cheating c*nts for what they are. Even any Red ones. 'Diving' like Kane is one thing. And I go back beyond Lee Won Pen to Helmut fecking Haller so I'm certainly not naive enough to believe the dive will ever go away. However what Calvert Lewin and Lamela perpetrated is quite another insidious development altogether. Players cynically intent on effectively using defenders as walls to quite expertly simulate the appearance of an offence which never actually happened has got to stop.

They get a penalty and it is blatant and they deserve to get penalties.

The opponent gets a penalty and they are “cheats” “scum” the FA is “corrupt” etc etc. They really do play the victim card all the time. Ridiculous.
 
Almost hope that Benitez comes out on top vs José, then Klopp's 75m defender makes a mistake to let Southampton win. Im sure that will give the mods on RAWK enough incentive to not ban any man who lets himself dream about the possibility of a new saviour. Should be fun

Not quite as good as Loveless, but then Loveless is the best 90's album I've ever listened to (piss off OK Computer). I was instantly swept away by MBV, particularly the opening three tracks. The waves of fuzzy guitars and sonic booms lapping over you. And despite the cataclysmic sound, behind the frenetic noise is structure and subtlety. What sounds like harum sacrum music is actually beautifully intricate and arranged perfectly. Layers and layers are built upon each other, all working to create something special.

The comment in question, described the sound as "compressing the universe into a sugar cube." It instantly made sense to me, and it captured my imagination. When player A gets the ball, player B goes here and player C goes there. To the naked eye, this is spontaneous and free form, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Klopp meticulously fine tunes every aspect of his teams to squeeze every drop he possibly can from his players. So like Kevin Shields, Klopp is obsessed with having every cog working to produce the best possible end result. Plus I reckon Kevin Shields is bang into Gegenpressing.

But man for man we have the better squad.

Our LB is better. When fit, Clyne is better than Valencia. VVD is better than any CB they have.

Attack wise...well sure Sanchez is fantastic...but would you take him over Mane or Firmino? Salah's scored more than Sanchez ever has in a year, and its only Feb!

I've read the "man for man our squad is better than theirs" or "I don't think any of their players would get into our side" or "I wouldn't swap any of our players for theirs" comments like 100's of times - even during seasons when we ended up winning league title after league title under SAF :lol:

The mind boggles.

Based on form, and if I was a Liverpool fan, I’d only take the two players he mentioned and maybe a CB.

Aside from that they’ve got us covered. On this season, too, wouldn’t have Sanchez in their team ahead of the way their front 3 play as a unit.

The squad comparisons were a go to for them for years, even when we were winning league titles and challenging the CL, they'd only go as far as begrudgingly admitting that Ronaldo was world class, saying that there wasn't much between Vidic/Ferdinand and Carragher/Skrtel
 
This is annoyingly what happens whenever Liverpool do remotely well, or just aren't shite. The hyperbole and sycophantic praise reaches nauseating levels. Imagine what would happen if they actually won something :wenger:

You can always gauge what sort of form Liverpool are in by the appraisals Henderson gets. When all's well in the land of Klopp, he's England's future CM and the as sturdy as the rock of Gibraltar. When they inevitably start to drop points to relegation battling sides he can only pass sideways and is a total waste of space. Much like Liverpool, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle of those two extremes.

Truly mind boggling but I suppose it was only corruption, refs, conspiracies, UEFA, UFO’s, the FA, whiskey nose, FIFA, Hitler being alive etc which stopped them from dominating.
 
They've always had the best manager in the world and the best player in the league (often time the world) in addition to the best starting xi, best squad, best atmosphere, best match program etc; but oddly end up winning nothing. I think they might be delusional.

They've won two with him, one was the league cup where they played Southampton in the final and the other was the Europa League where they basically had no strong opponents. As for the table, United finished sixth last season, they've profited from Arsenal and Chelsea being poor.

Well we will have to boot them back and stop being whinging shithouses about it. These will be a hard team to beat, and putting Anti Mourinho sentiments aside he is still a top manager who knows his stuff. He knows how to win, no matter how ugly. He had a meltdown at Chelsea which was fun to see,but hes improved United since Aloysius Paulus Maria "Louis" van Gaal and Moyes.
