Ravel Morrison (Only football related)

So what are you two saying? You think he'll go city? personally, I think people read the papers too much. Wasn't it last week he was signing for chelsea....it's kinda redundant.

I can't see City buying in players like that. They'd never be played. It's far too easy for them just to go out and sign a world class big name.

They are making a conscious effort to cultivate players thus them splashing out millions on a new academy. I can see them buying youth (like they did with Abdul Razak) and trying to turn them into first team players.

It has reached the point where I almost expect bad news when I see development in the Pogba and Morrison thread!

I don't really like reading too much in to all of this but all of his tweets yesterday during the game were very clearly cheering for United. Who knows if it was actually him, and if it was him if he was just doing it to wind people up.

Let's not forget Ravel kissing the badge in front of the Kop last year, I normally cringe a bit when I see players do that but Ravel didn't have to do it, didn't need to make a point to anyone. You can say well yeah Rooney did something similar for Everton in the Youth Cup but let's be honest he was never going to reach his full potential at Everton the same can't be said of Ravel here.

He was making a point to the Liverpool supporters. Dont read anything into that.
That said, I dont think even he is stupid enough to go out wearing a City shirt.

Making a point to Liverpool supporters and celebrating like anyone of us would have. Even if he was wearing a City shirt it's perfectly possible he's lost a bet or he just wanted to wind some people up.

#T.HENRY best of the best in my eyes King Henry

Hardly controversial

Apparently if he doesn't acknowledge as Cantona as the only King, he's being disrespectful (as per twitter). Even though he was just regurgitating the media hype.

He said something about Henry being his hero. I don't mind it. Henry was a class player whether or not he played for United.

He had pace, skill, vision, dedication, professionalism and he was an incredible finisher. I really have no problem with this guy being a role model for Ravel.

Rather him than Balotelli!

Just for reference Ravel said Ronaldinho was his favourite player ever.

He's young enough as well so it sort of makes sense that he would see Henry that way. He would have only been a nipper when Canto retired.

It's not controversial at all, he's 19, Henry and the like obviously had a massive influence on his career. How much he loves United shouldn't impact on how he appreciates a certain player. It's like saying I can't say Silva is the best player in the league right now. He's also not the smartest guy and he's bought into the media hype hence the King Henry.

As you should Pogue, I don't think he's the best player in the league anyway it was just an example. Ravel's the type of guy who can never win, we just need him to get on the pitch and playing, best and most peaceful place for him.

Lighten up Pogue!

Believe it or not, Nick, I'm not actually in a grump about this. What happens, happens. I'm fairly convinced the lad is less than committed to staying at United, albeit based on not a lot of evidence. Obviously I'll be delighted if he stays, that goes without saying. If he leaves it's his loss though. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying being devil's advocate to others who seem determined to believe the opposite to me, based on even less evidence.

At the risk of sounding like some wannabe ITK bellend, I probably have more reasoned concerns than most but I can't divulge the reasons. Suffice to say the kid needs to give his head a wobble and realise what's good for him, who he supports or thinks is the best player the PL has seen is the least of our worries.

This. As I said though he seemed pleased when we were scoring against City, none of really know the situation. We do know he's a bit of WUM though and he's been with the club a long time so it's natural to expect him to have some affinity to the club even if he doesn't overtly show it. As you said if he leaves it's his loss, I really hope he stays though.

Out of interest is it about letting player's contracts run into the final months before trying to tie them down. We did the same with Cleverley, I remember reading that we have a policy only to negotiate new contracts in the final year of the existing contract, it's a policy that worries me but there have been exceptions. Then again you could be on about something else.

Nothing to do with the club's actions at all.

Ok that's fine I read it as reasoned concerns about the club, God knows why. Always lots of murmurs with Ravel off the field, that's why I say the pitch is the best place for him.

See this is the thing, he's on twitter. I couldn't give a damn who his heroes are, but what the feck's he doing on twitter? Why is the club allowing it? And how can it not have gone in his head that he needs to shut up, get his head down, live entirely for football and be entirely anonymous until such time as Fergie decides he exists?

It's gutting, cos he's that good, and I'm sure there are reasons for it in his childhood... but I just can't see it happening for him at United. And even if it does, how long can it last?
