I don't believe any of this, I always take media reports with a pinch of salt.
With some money behind them, I can see Wolves pushing for top four next season, think it will be possibly the most competitive Premier League for years. I remember Billy Wright and Ron Flowers playing for you back in the 50s/60s, and of course The Doog, whole hearted player, Richards and Bully. Iconic players, nice to see you back where you belong.
My son Duncan (named after the greatest player that ever lived), was born in 1979. When he was a few months old, I came home from work one day to find him resplendent in a full Wolves kit! My neighbour, Bob, a devout Wolves man, had bought the kit, and with my wife's collusion, had dressed him in this kit. It didn't stay on him long, and I'm pleased to say it hasn't affected him in any way, he's an out and out United supporter. Good luck to you next season, wouldn't mind Wolves coming runner up to United next season.

Jimenez is a cracking forward and of course I would like him here, it would improve our squad.
However, Martial has shown himself to be first choice and Jimenez at this stage in his career wouldn’t go somewhere to be second fiddle. The price would be extortionate for a depth player. We have Ighalo until January.
I’m obviously not opposed to having him in the squad, but I don’t agree with what it would cost when we have more pressing issues in the squad to deal with this window.

I actually rate Richarlison as one of the better attacking players in the Premier League. Still only 23. Versatile. Can play in any of the top three positions. Hard worker. Good header of the ball. He's quite a handful for defenders and he has an eye for a goal. Getting one player that I rate a lot higher than other two guys that I don't rate as high is a no-brainer for me. I mean, you'd want us to sign players that are here to challenge the starting eleven. Not to be backups. I'd say if we would have had Richarlison in the squad these last games, he would have started instead of Rashford.
I'm guessing this all comes down to me rating Richarlison a lot higher than you do. Just for example. Would you sign Grealish and Jimenez instead of Sancho if you had to choose?
I really like this player and I think he’d be a great addition but he’s going to cost too much and he should be a starter if he leaves wolves. I know it sounds stupid when people say we should just go and find the next Messi or whatever but with a player like this who was bought (relatively) cheap, isn’t young and has fairly obvious attributes the manager seems to want in the squad then our scouts should surely be able to find someone who they think will have a similar effect without the huge cost.
That would be such a shit deal for them. They've been linked with Aarons and Doherty is only 28 and has been pretty great for them.
@tob Rate Richarlison too. Think he'd be a great fit here, appreciate all the qualities you listed, I see that in him too. Driven, works hard, still improving, gets into good positions.
I won't because Sancho is a generational talent while Richarlison is not.
Yeah makes total sense. After Milik, that's exactly who Juve need to spend 80 million Euros for!

Believe me I’m not naive at all, but Raul isn’t going to go, no one will pay the money it would be required to buy him at this stage of his career, it’s as simple as that, no one will spend over £50m on a 29 year old, plus the days have gone where we have to sell, we simply don’t have to anymore unless the player kicks up a fuss, Raul won’t, he will be here next season

I think richarlison has it in him to be a top top player. I rate him highly.
Very good player but not sure he'd start ahead of Martial, Sancho (if he comes) or even Greenwood so it wouldn't be a great career move for him.
There's no way this Jiminez rumour is true.
1. The source obviously jumped to conclusions because Wolves are after a new striker and Jiminez was linked to us last year.
2. Jiminez is coming off a 17 goal season, Wolves are a rival table position wise and he has 3 years left on his contract. We would be looking at a 70-80 million pound purchase at least. Why would we spend that when were currently haggling a 100 million pound deal for another attacking player.
3. Martial had the best season of his career this year. Don't think getting in a second striker to share minutes with him is going to make him feel too great.
4. Greenwood is second in line for that number 9 position after having an amazing breakthrough seeason. He will already be side lined most likely for sancho if we get him over the line, which would severly limit his playing time.
5. Not a single English journalist has reported this.

I agree with people that we need a backup striker but this guy is too good for that role if that makes sense. We need a Josh King who’s going to do a job in a game where we are heavily rotating. Jiminez likely wouldn’t be happy with that role, would cost way too much for that and would hinder the development of Greenwood and Martial. This is all assuming we get Sancho.

He'd be very good for us, can play across the front line. I would be very interested in him if he were available.

Why not? Quite frankly Martial isn't a pure CF aldo he's had a great season alongside Rashford and Greenwood. Why not have brilliant player fighting for a place in our front 3? Jimenez, James, Grealish and Ighalo sound like brutal reserve options
Personally, I think he plays best through the middle. But he would be a more versatile rotations than Ighalo
Many of us posters on here complain about depth and our lack of it but yet when we try to sign depth people say our squads good enough.

Ok let me rephrase. We have enough strikers who are of that type. Pacey wide forwards. We need a different type of striker for when Ole needs to change the game and give the opposition a different look.
This is why Igahlo as a signing was good, but its clear we need a better version.
Richarlison isnt going to pose a totally different threat and ask different questions to a Rashford or Greenwood through the middle. A Jimenez certainly would. I doubt we sign him though but maybe in Jan we need to sign that type of striker

Originally saw this thread when it was 2 pages long and didn't think much of it. Now it's up to 12 and seeing it being taken seriously as a possibility in other places, too.
Not going to turn this player down as I really like him. Not entirely sure how this will work out with our starting 11, but with the addition of 5 subs next season, we can definitely get him some game time.

He's going Juve is he not? The way the media are throwing our name around, we are going to sign Pau Torres, Gabriel, Grealish and VDB. I'm sure i have forgotten someone else. We are going to sign everyone!
True, very good points. He could form a high pressing, energetic front 3 and martial is developing his hold up play. But you're right, we do need an alternative in the ilk of Jimenez.

Martial is not as consistent as the top top strikers are, he’s a god player but not top drawer in my view. Better this season but too moody. Jimenez would be a great buy but it’s probably just more paper talk. Wolves don’t need the money so maybe he wants a move to play CL as he is running out of chances at 29.

I dont mind his mood as long as he keeps scoring. Jimenez is nothing close to a top striker, the last two years have been his best scoring season and he's 29! Infact Martial scored more open play goals in EPL than your top top striker.
Jimenez before arriving at Wolves last season has never scored more than 7 goals in his 5 seasons in europe and that is while playing in a piss poor Portuguese league.
He scored 13 league goals playing as the main striker last season while Martial scored 10 playing from the wings. Should I go on with your top top striker?
They both have 17 goals with Martial playing far less games and minutes.
Jimenez wont be a starter even if he came, so pointless for what he'd cost, Neves though will be a gem.
Neves is phenomenal, he genuinely has it all and I pinch myself that I get to watch him every week (well, pre Covid) I genuinely can’t believe the big clubs haven’t come in for him just yet

Again, do you see signing YET another left winger as depth, when we already have Rashford, James, Martial, and GD Sanchez who can play on the left. Get a RIGHT winger. Grealish is another bad mistake IMO even if available for cheap.
Get your squad balance and right first, then talk about depth. Not many team can afford to spend 200m on fullback, let alone a 60-80m backup striker.
Exactly. Foolish to sign him for big money and have to replace him in another couple of seasons. Going for a top player like RVP who is ageing is one thing. Jiminez who is sort of in the pretty good tier and not really an upgrade for big money and is 29 to me makes no sense.
