Rate our Summer 2022 Transfer Window so far (Out of 10)

Right now its 7/10

(Casemiro+Eriksen is improvement from Matic+Pogba, Martinez+Malacia is big upgrade on back 4, but losing Cavani and no replacement for Greenwood is a minus, failing to sell our deadwoods ie Telles, AWB to raise some funds, is also a minus)

If we add Antony, its 8/10

If we add GK, its 8.5/10

If we add a RB, its 9/10

If we add FDJ, its 10/10

Right now, 5/10.

If we add Anthony and Gk 7/10.
+RB and CM 10/10

Yeah that's a much more realistic figure because still not filled 4 of the 6 holes in first XI (RB,CM,RW,ST). Was only 5 at start of window but then Ronaldo. Address a couple of them and it could rise to 7.

Probably worth breaking it down into areas.

GK - 0/10
DF - 7.5/10
MF - 7/10
ST/W - 0/10

Seeing as all areas needed serious attention this window, it's hard to go much above a 4.5/10, especially as we've only been able to sell 1 player.

I would be inclined to knock it down to a 3.5 due to inept mismanagement of the window and kneejerk reactions from the board.

Had we gone with Rabiot and Arnautovic over Casemiro and Antony (assuming that happens), then you would honestly have been looking at a 1/10 window.

Will be a little fairer and give it 5, however when you break it down into areas then wow does it make seriously grim reading

This has been the most transformative window I can remember. With Malacia, Martinez. Casemiro, Eriksen and now Anthony, the entire character and mentality of the team has been changed. As close to a new team as one window can offer. Easy 8/10.

Can't go higher than 6.5 unless we nail a CM/ST

  • Antony
  • Casemiro
  • Martinez
  • Eriksen
  • Malacia
Cant complain about that. Replace Ronaldo with Memphis and it'll be a fantastic window. Timing could be better, overpays could be less, but I'd rather have the players than not. Shocked we got Antony AND casemiro.

Signed 5, need another 4. Let's hope 1-2 of those 4 happens until Thursday night.

Best hope is Dubravka and maybe CF depth, still think a window of 7 just about possible
That would be very good ending to the window. Guess we can do with Dalot and AWB at RB for a season, I'm just worried about our midfield, that one midfielder to help us control the games better is badly needed.

Yeah wish it was Eriksen

I think that's it, no more incomings.

If I base it solely on the players we got and not the manner in which we did i say it's been a pretty decent window, could become our best window post Fergie based on how these lads perform in the long run.

I give it a 7/10

In terms of personnel it's been very good. The negotiation and planning side has been pretty terrible so I'm pretty amazed we've been able to bring the quality of players needed.

For instance:
  • Malacia - Hijacked from Lyon on the final day who agreed a fee.
  • Martínez - Timber fell through, we outbid Arsenal who showed interest must earlier than us and signed him.
  • Eriksen - Spurs dropped their interest so we beat Brentford to him.
  • Casemiro - Signed after deals for Frenkie and Rabiot fell through.
  • Antony - No complains with this one to be honest, dealing with Ajax was never going to be easy. Thank God we didn't sign Arnautović.

I'd say 7/10. We've some how managed to get a very good standard of players in despite all the hurdles. This style of recruitment can't go on long run but I'm glad it worked out at least.

Still fail to control CM

Still fail to control CM
Yeah unfortunately, the midfield should be considerably more solid right now however so we should be just fine playing a more counter attacking brand of football for now, maybe if it didn't work out we'd try to reinforce it in jan.

4/10. I like all the signings but we clearly needed more. There is also an elephant in the room with Ronaldo still here.

In and of itself it's probably a 7 or an 8, we're still going to struggle to control games because the midfield isn't right and there are still plenty of issues that need to be fixed subsequently but it wasn't realistic that they were all going to be resolved in 1 window.

I still think it's been worrying in what it says about the quality of our scouting and recruitment for future windows that we've basically just gone for players that Ten Hag knows of (despite him having no real involvement in recruitment while at Ajax) and have obviously overpaid for a couple of signings.

I mean 2 weeks ago we were trying to sign Adrien Rabiot and Marko Arnautovic, then we get thrashed by Brentford and suddenly a load of money has been spunked on Casemiro and Antony. Now that's clearly a great result because they're 2 quality players but it still feels reactive and opportunistic rather than well thought out.

Malacia looks fantastic prospect at LB.
Casemiro is world class DM - something we lacked.
Antony is an exciting RW who fills another long term need.
Eriksen is also very good squad option that came for free.
Martinez looks like someone who fits the ETH style and watching Maguire in the stands is priceless.

Id say it’s a solid 7 so far.

add FDJ and it’s a 10. (Yes I know we lack ST ,GK and RB but can’t fill them all at once).

I have no issues with the players we’ve brought in. I’m happy with all of them, infact.

The management of the window has been atrocious, however, and certainly impacted our ability to win the opening games of the season.

I’m also incredibly concerned that we are clearly content with neglecting the right back position, in spite of Wan-Bissaka not being in the manager’s plans and Dalot being largely shite.

Even if we finish this window with Antony, we’re still going into the next summer in clear need of a goalkeeper, right back, central midfielder and a striker.

We need to forward plan better in order to make sure we don’t need to bring in several players at once.

Hopefully Erik looks further afield next summer now he has 3/4 of his core players. We all know the other 1/4 so not going to mention name.

Did you expect us to solve all of the issues in one window? With the sheer amount of problems, the best hope was solving as many problems as possible.

Assuming we sign Antony, that's five signings that can walk straight into our first team. And people would rate this lower than 7/10? Madness I think. It's unrealistic to expect more than half a new starting XI in one transfer window.

With Antony, it's an 8/10 for me so far.

I expected us to solve more of them, yes. This was a summer that called for a root and branch overhaul of the first team due to the number of positions that needed to be upgraded.

I understand why we haven’t pursued a goalkeeper yet, and the striker market is limited; right back should have been sorted, however.

Only because we lack someone in CM

Dalot has done a fine job at RB and seems to have completely bought in to ten Hag’s coaching. RB is definitely not a need.

I'm not against Dalot getting a chance until at least January, however CM is huge issue

4/10? FFS. We’ve addressed areas of need with 3 high profile signings and have added depth elsewhere. Our problems don’t get solved in one window, its naive to think that.

Would have been a 8.5-9 if we didn't need to almost overhaul the complete squad. With Antony, we will most likely be starting all 5 of our new signings so far. I can still see at least 3 more positions that we can improve with new players.

For now I'd give it a 7.5. Can potentially go to 8.5-9 depending on whether we get a striker and a right back and who we get as well. Having said that, I'm very excited by our signings so far.
