Rasmus Højlund | Signed for United

The reported price is the price quoted for a guarantee of world class potential. We may as well wait a year or two to see if he reaches it and probably pay a similar price to the quotes we’re receiving now
Price will double if that's the case, if someone doesn't sign him first. I'm still thinking the likely 80-100 mill quote is bs and if we are serious about signing him we'll get him for around 50-60mill euros. But who knows if we're actually in for him seriously at this stage all things considered. No idea what we are doing besides contemplating, monitoring, watching a second bid for Mount

Perhaps we should get Kolo-Muani instead, strikes me as more ready and yes I know he missed that big chance in World Cup Final. How much do you reckon it would take to get him

100mil seems to be a popular figure whenever we show interest

Just had a look in his thread and seems Whitwell (Tier 1) says we were quoted £68.7m which I personally think is definitely worth paying
I think it is a bit pricey but I like the player.
If Atalanta are asking for similar money for Rasmus then I think Muani is a better option as he is more the finished article.

The problem is that Muani and Hojlund play a bit differently or have different strengths, so I guess it's a case of what ETH and the recruitment team value more. If we even get any of them, i'm not so sure we will anymore, already kind of disheartened when for example you look at Chelsea and Arsenal

Chelsea and Arsenal??

Well Chelsea are looking likely to sign Caicedo, and young striker Nicolas Jackson already

Arsenal are likely to get Rice and Havertz pretty soon
They will pay massively over the odds for Caicedo and I have never heard of Jackson.
Arsenal are going to do the same with Rice and Havertz is shit.
We have Chmps league and the best manager since Fergie at the club now.
We should be doing cartwheels now and not looking at what they are doing in London as spending loads of money is not always a recipe for success.

I’m not worried about what they are doing or what they are spending over there. We have way less money to spend so we cannot see as much as them anyway. It’s the quickness and decisiveness with which they are pursuing their targets that’s getting hard to ignore when in comparison to us dithering over another bid for Mount and no sign of any kind of striker interest… i’d like Hojlund but beyond a few reports about potential interest there’s been no real reports, it’s all considering, watching, contemplating. That’s the only thing that is frustrating about it, it’s hard not to feel that ETH is gonna get screwed over a he already has with this takeover nonsense

Well stop reading everything in the media then as most of it is bullshit anyway.
If a deal goes through quickly it means that the buying club has paid the first price that they have been quoted and we want to avoid getting ripped off.
We have Chmps league football and we are on the rise and if that isn't a good enough lure to attract top players then we can categorically say that money is the main reason why players join certain clubs.

Only looks pricey because we aren't looking at cheaper CM's than Mount. Also convinced it's why we wouldn't push boat out more for Kane

I have been thinking what other options if not Mount, its clear ETG wants to buy a no.8 who is good at pressing, can pass the ball around, active in the final third while capable of offering something in attack.

Rabiot - free (box to box, can do both attack and defend, I think that would be the most obvious choice)

Maddison - 50m (good no.10, good at passing and creating chances, but not a no.8, can't defend)

Caicedo - 80m (very good DM with good potential, very good age too, but offers nothing much in final third)

Rice - 120m (very solid and strong DM, but not a no.8, offers nothing much in final third)

Should be getting Rabiot anyway as free agent

Fingers crossed this is the last transfer window of being unable to sign any of our primary targets due to the Glazers hiring the cheapest negotiators they could find

He is a talent! He is not good enough to start for us. He is a talent, and should be treated and paid for as such! Like all other talents with this few number of professional games he could still end a bad player.

Denmark had another young forward, Kasper Dolberg, who scored goals for fun at Ajax when he started to play for them in a young age. Back then he was rumored to many top teams, today he is about to sigh for Anderlect and has had so many bad periods…

We need to change our strategy so clubs don’t think that we’ll pay whatever thy ask for. Give him an offer with performance add one, if that’s not enough then see you. Find another target. Think a realistic offer for him, and I am watching him play for Atlanta and Danish national team, would be €30m + some add ons if he perform as expected…

In the Danish forums, a lot of fans don’t see him ready for a top club yet and all can agree that the prices mentioned, even €60m is toooo high for him(now)

I thought 40-50m was fair, but 100m is way too high. Why do clubs always put on a +50m United bonus on the asking fees?

We need to walk away. It’s such a bizarre transfer to be targeting in the first place, we’re struggling to afford a keeper but our striker option is one that’s a top talent but isn’t ready to start for us yet, which would mean we’d need another striker on top.

Evan Ferguson is easily the better talent. Wish he was available
Whilst meeting in the hotel lift on the occasion of the semi-final v Brighton if he would consider joining United. He just smiled and a few days later signed a new contract.

This years Benjamin Sesko I guess. Full of potential but so are dozens of other strikers at that age. Rather spread the money on a few young talents who are not that well known yet and loan them out.
100m for a backup is insane

Ridiculous fee, what about him is even worth 50m?
The kind of player West ham would sign for £25m

Exactly, Scammaca went to WHU last season for £30m and he hasn't exactly been a big hit. He was also better than Hojlund in Serie A. We shouldn't be in for him at those fees, I'm not really sure his potential is that high.

As I said in another thread would be a shame if they priced the kid out of his dream move with a value even they must recognise is absurd. Likely we won’t be in for him again unless the stars align like this summer and we’re in need.

Lets see if it gets negotiated down, apparently his agency deal with SEG is trial period for this summer, in the hopes of getting a move no doubt otherwise why trial them

100 mil then we have to walk away. He is only potential at this point and not going to make much impact for us if coming in as a starter. Go for RKM instead with maybe 80m euro to 100m with add ons. Interchange with Rashford and maybe Taremi like stop gap.

This is what happens when you cave in and pay as much as we did for Antony. Will take several years of restraint and walking away from deals before clubs take our negotiations seriously again.
Exactly this. We have been joke of a club in transfer market over recent years, overspending so much for average quality again and again and again. And hence we have now created a situation where every clubs out there are feeling invited to take us to the cleaner with unrealistic price tag, knowing we might still fall into their trap regardless.

We knew we needed a striker in December last year and yet we waited until now to start asking for prices?

Out recruitment process really needs to be looked at from top to bottom.

Still can’t believe we did that with Antony. We literally paid the “feck off” price. You never pay the feck off price.
