Rasmus Højlund | Signed for United

It's been reported that he's been training privately for months to keep him fit. Imo despite him not training with the senior players the club would surely keep tabs on that as well. And I think ETH's stand on this is not solely based on what Greenwood did 18 months ago. Imo he wants him in his squad next season then that means he knows Greenwood would be useful for him.

Anyway it's way off topic now we'll see I think. Let's hope we can buy Hojlund.
Yep agree there, fingers crossed we get Hojlund.

Based on the money they can offer Atalanta and Hojlund. Or do you think we can match them?:lol:
He prefers United and yes we can afford the fee. Not sure what you’re talking about in all honesty.

PSG aren't remotely a worry for us. He wants to move to us, we've been locked in negotiations with the club for weeks, we've already agreed personal terms and if the price is 60m EUR it looks like tis a formality

I reckon this PSG stuff is bollocks
@mazhar13 Just posted it under the tweets thread & the report is from a Tier 1 source, most definitely not bollocks.

Hopefully United can find a compromise

He's not just any Tier 1 source; he's someone with the best connections with PSG. He's practically their insider. At the moment, what helps us is that they've only been in touch with Højlund's entourage, whilst we've already been in touch with Atalanta and have fully agreed personal terms with the player. The part about us not being willing to pay what Atalanta wants comes from the entourage, who's most likely passed on our informal offers to them. We started low and are trying to find the best deal for ourselves, whilst the agent wants PSG to pay whatever Atalanta are asking for. I doubt that'll be the case for them unless they sell a bunch of their players, which is what Tanzi reported anyways.

Tier 1 sources confirming the PSG interest we cant mess about now we need to pay the cash and get this done

He’ll pick us over PSG. Eitherway a fee has to be agreed by both parties and PSG won’t overspend either.

Yeah I’m just worried that PSG will put 70m on the table and get a deal done whilst our mob are pissing about

The market is thin ATM so if we do lose out to PSG, who the feck will we get?
The only way we lose out on this is if we move onto another target. The only other target we've been strongly linked with is Randal Kolo Muani. At the moment, we've done nothing on that front after early talks with his camp, so there's no need to worry here.

In you I trust. Maybe it's a leak to encourage us to pay what they want

I didn't say its bollocks, but they aren't a threat to us in my opinion. He wants us and he's a United fan, and we've done a lot more legwork on the deal

just because it's from tier 1 doesn't mean it isn't bollocks

one word from his agent to whatever tier 1 you like and they'll report it, for sure

agents do it all the time to squeeze a bit more out of clubs

I get what you mean, and in this case, the agent's effectively using PSG partially to hurry us and partially to give Højlund another top option. However, Loïc Tanzi gets his info straight from the club; if he ever gets info from agents, he'd first corroborate that with his sources from PSG. This is different to Romano, for example, who's more likely to report info from a trusted network of agents.

clubs obviously do it as well, and in this case it would make sense as it seems we've been negotiating a while

I mean this is pretty well-known stuff isn't it? Everyone knows this goes on in the game and has for yonks, especially when it comes to United. Clubs see us coming a mile off.

I'm surprised anyone still thinks any football journalist is playing it straight.. even when they know they are being used, they'll print it.. they aren't lying and they get their clicks, everyones a winner!

Rather he goes to psg to be honest, he's athletic and energetic for sure but there's a lot more out there in making a top of the line forward.

His touch while to be fair is nowhere near lukaku levels of abhorrent is still an area of concern and I doubt any other player has ever improved upon it substantially after his age.

You raise an interesting thing I've always wondered about. Have there been any notable examples of players who drastically, and I mean seriously, improved their first touch into adulthood? In my mind the Bergkamps and Zidanes of the world always had it.

What you're saying makes sense if Atalanta fed this info to (for example) Gianluca di Marzio to try and put some pressure on United. However, this is PSG providing info about their own activity. There's no reason for them to push United to complete this deal, especially since they've been keen on the player for the past two years.

if you are correct about PSG pushing it then of course you're right. I doubt that though. I get what you're saying about the source but in my mind that makes it just as likely to be shenanigans as the source adds legitimacy. For one thing, there really is seemingly no advantage for PSG to publicly get this information out.

I'm super skeptical about football journalism though, as you can see!

Tevez first touch improved dramatically after he left us

Who are these other forwards?

To be honest, I thought PSG were more interested in Ramos than Højlund. Maybe he's their plan B, so sounding him out in case Utd can't get the deal done?
