How's his first touch? Can he hold the ball up well? Does he use his size and strength to bully defenders? Is he a beast in the air?

I'm really sick of strikers being shit at the basics. In the 2000s almost ever PL striker was decent at these. Now it just seems like penalties, goals and assists is what everyone cares about.
Nobody here knows. It’s absurd so many posters are making any sort of these claims.
Go look at the Serie A thread, there’s so few posts about an Atlanta game being watched throughout the entirety of last season. Just broad posts about results and European places

Really it's not that bad at such a price.

Ideally around 40-45 with 20-30 in hard to reach bonuses would be better.

We never appreciated Rooney enough.

Someone said he didn’t stand out in Austria like Haaland and Mane did but his stats there are pretty good.

If we’re actually prepared to spend 50m on Hojlund, we should be prepared to spend 120m on Kane.
Preparing to spend 120 million we don't have, on a player Levy doesn't want to sell - least of all to a Premier League club. All of this well reported, multiple times. Can't take you people serious

He had a better goals to game ratio than Sesko did whilst they were both in Austria at the time. Going on to score 2 goals against his team when they both shared the pitch on that match infact..I'd argue he's a better talent than Sesko but Sesko stands out enough to be the next big thing, and for us to try to sign him a year ago

If Kane wants to come, he should force the move himself but he looks like he is Levy's bitch so I'm not counting on it.
Anything is better than another season with Martial and Weghorst. Even a striker from the Belgian Pro League should be better than what we have now. We cannot go in to the season with just Martial as striker, I would prefer if we could ship him out

Any chance we'll be signing another striker alongside him? Either that or it points to us keeping a certain someone. Surely it's too much pressure for a 20 year old to come on board as our main striker.

I think it's not realistic to expect a 20 years from a foreign league to come straight away as main striker leading a club as big as Man Utd. Only absolute top class player in the mould of Kane can handle the pressure.

If we only sign Hojlund I hope the certain someone to stay too to share the load. We can rely on Martial or another Weghorst.

Our dream signing is Kane.

My guess is Hojlund, Rashford and Martial rotate up top. Garnacho and Sancho rotate at LW when Rashford is top. Antony and Sancho or Mount when needed to rotate at RW assuming Amad goes on loan again.

Ideally you wouldn't sign him at all, but if you must sign him, as a Denmark fan who has extremely high hopes for him, this feels like it's too early in his career. Huge move but I fear that he isn't ready.

Think I’d rather this strategy than overspending on strikers over the hill. At very worst we can still re-sell.

This is worrying from a Denmark fan. And people expect him to come in straight as main ST at 20. We need a more established ST.

This isn't happening i think. Get Ivan Toney or something, use Martial until then. Horrible i know but what the hell else can we do?

Sign the player the management seemingly want to sign
If we’re actually prepared to spend 50m on Hojlund, we should be prepared to spend 120m on Kane.

If we’re prepared to pay £120m on Kane might as well spend £150-200m on Mbappe. Younger innit.

Honestly United were linked with Osimhen last year we didn't go for it now his price is unreasonable.

The last 2 years we've scouted well and missed out on some good targets.

I reckon Hojlund is ready for a breakout in numbers honestly, stats wise his conversions great, his speed, pressing and finishing.

He will get a lot of joy at United I think he will get 15+ goals in the first season.

I'd spend £50m on him gladly hes built already for the league. Kane or Osimhen if he was available sure but I trust the scouts and the fact ETH can develop players.

I see this a lot, but I'm not sure I agree. We need more goals from a striker, I think we all agree on that, but I think we'll do fine if he can get say 15-20 goals in all competitions. I think we can expect more goals from other sources as well this season, so Højlund's goals alone won't be the most important thing. Although I think he'll surprise some people, his movement alone should get him goals with the caliber of player we have to supply him.

I'm actually hoping a player like him will be beneficial for Antony. I think he was limited by his passing and crossing options last season and with a quick, tall striker making runs into the box I can see him getting quite a few assist.

And then there are other Danes who love him and think he can do a great job. Are you just going to listen to the ones that feel it's too early? No one has claimed he's going to be the main striker, anyway. Martial will likely start ahead of him when fit, and Rashford will rotate with him.

Of course, a more established striker, who is still shit. What's the point of getting one with more experience when the only ones available are Burnley level?

If we’re actually prepared to spend 50m on Hojlund, we should be prepared to spend 120m on Kane.
In that case if we should be prepared to spend 120m on Kane then we should be prepared to spend 300m on Mbappe in which case we should be prepared to spend 7.4 billion to genetically modify Messi and bring back a younger version of him.

If this goes through it gonna turn into a similar signing as when we signed Martial. Huge sum of money for an unproven and fairly unknown player. There will definitely be high expectations and the pressure will be immense. And than on hindsight it turns out that the replacement of Hojlund will be the actual hidden gem just like the same with Mbappe replacing Martial at Monaco.

He’s supposedly a Utd fan and everything we’ve heard so far suggests he’s desperate to play for us. As long as we can reach an agreement with Atalanta then I think he’ll pick us over PSG.
Seems to be that he's a United fan and dead set on playing for the club. If United stump up, I'm sure he'll come

A denmark fan who is also a chelsea fan. Naturally opposition and rival fans will look at it differently to a Utd fan.

I don't think we're currently in a position to sign the strikers who are established enough and at the right quality. The only viable options are Kane and Osimhen and we're seemingly priced out of those deals.

I'd probably rather spend on Hojlund than overspend for a Watkins who'd almost certainly underwhelm at Utd.

There's also the takeover to consider - new owners will probably be the ones to bring in the next expensive, flashy names.

I have no doubts he'd pick us over PSG, so long as we can agree a fee with Atalanta. PSG will likely go for Vlahovic from previous reports, which would indeed put Juve in contention for him but they are seemingly also looking at Lukaku so..

You never know. Ten Hag is a brilliant coach, so there’s every chance he’ll be just be fine. From a coaching standpoint, I think he’d be in great hands but for him I’d had hoped for a more steady rise.

Clearly Highly Rated by Multiple teams.

Possess the attributes we all want, pace, power, hold up play.

Clearly why ETH is pushing for him.

Apart from Martial who was the last prospect ready for the 1st team we took a punt on?

I’m saying this as a fan of Højlund. For United, it’s a no brainer. For him, he could do with another year or two at lower tier club

Agree. This is a logical thinking. At 20 we still need to develop him and I think we still need another ST if we want to be a serious contender.

Orny has again made me horny

But it's weird Italian sources are saying the price is lower and close to being matched, whereas English sources are saying there's a big gap

Maybe it's United trying to show this Summer that they won't just pay anything. They've seemingly got the Mount and Onana prices both to drop a lot

I think we will get rid of Martial in the next 12 months.
His contract is out next summer so for sure he'll leave and we'll replace him then, but he'll stay this summer. Can't see anyone taking him. So we are stuck with what we have this summer and then next summer depending on how the attackers do, either get more forward depth or get a starting CF.

Not liking the sound of PSG being in the hunt too!

Personal terms are always easy to agree. Not big news. Think we will get this done though for around maybe €60m-€65m. Going rate for promising young players these days unfortunately.
