Rashford out for the next few games

Bet Martial won’t even be available tomorrow night.

Just listened to the press conference and it’s very positive on Rashford. Ten Hag even says Rashford is not too disappointed as he knows he’s not out for long.

No surprises that I read this thread and it’s panic stations and apparently going to be much worse than being made out.

In before the 70% fit Rashy return in the Sevilla away leg

At this point he's so vital to scoring I'd rather they just keep him off until he's raring to go again, and hope that other players can pick up the slack.

Time for Martial and Sancho to shine hopefully. Not exactly hopeful personally...

I suspect back for the start of May. It doesn’t seem as bad as first feared which is good news but groin strains do usually take a bit of time to heal.

Mctominay is an interesting one. He is mediocre in midfield but seems to have a decent eye for goal. He may actually be playing in the wrong position. Why not try him as a no 9 (in Rashford's absence)? Given how out of his depth Wout is, surely nothing to lose.

Oh not this again. At best he can be a forward oriented #8 but not 10 or 9. An eye for goal doesn't mean you can play as a striker in the modern game. Lampard and Gerrard had eye for goals, but they never played as strikers did they?

I feel a forgotten player like Elanga could be key if he is able to step up massively.

Stylistically, he's the closest to Rashford in terms of raw pace, running in behind, hurting teams on the counter, and could hopefully have the underestimated effect of keeping teams honest when playing against us. I feel it's a weapon that has massively helped us throughout the season.

To do this though, he has to actually play like a pro footballer with the ball at his feet! :nervous:

Don't worry we have Sancho
Sancho would definitely be the first choice, and he seems to be coming into form at just the right time. He's different stylistically though - that element of raw pace is not something one would associate with him.

On the flip side, Sancho and Antony (especially with the return of the first choice midfield duo) could probably give us a lot more control than we're used to, and render the Rashford issue obsolete (one can dream!)

You are being sarcastic about Elanga right? stepping up?

Might be back for Sevilla apparently. For me we can beat them without rushing him back, Brighton is the big one.

I don't think we can beat them without Rashford but we probably shouldn't risk him. A 70% Rashford is no use and even with a fully fit Rashford, it's still bloody fecking Sevilla in the Europa League. They have a Real Madridesque hold on this goddamned competition so we're probably better off focusing on the league. And protecting Rashford's long-term health, too.

I mean, they were absolute garbage today and it was just shit finishing and absolute disaster class of bad luck to get 2 own goals from nothing positions. If that luck is repeated next week, so be it, Rashford or no Rashford we should hammer them just like we performance wise did for a lot of today before we got caught up in the dirty play.
