Rashford and Martial are a problem

Pretty sure this isn't even true. He's on par with his expected goals in the league.

Can't just focus on the misses (which every top attacker has plenty of) and use that to say "well, he should have scored six more one-on-ones and then we'd be winning the league".

Does his xg take his newish role into consideration because he seems to have taken it upon himself more recently to be fully direct and hold onto the ball a lot more. I think for a role like that he’d at least want to be out scoring Bruno and setting up a few more goals. He’s too wasteful. Anyone can see it

If anyone could see it, the stats would show it.

Fernandes has been arguably the best player in the league this season, and Rashford has got 3 fewer goal involvements from open play than him. Listening to the utter clowns on this thread, you'd be forgiven for thinking he hasn't scored since September.

Rashford has a better goals and assist record by age 23 than any player who has ever come through the Manchester United academy in our entire history; better than Charlton, Best, Giggs etc...

He even has better goals and assist records than Rooney and Ronaldo at the same age...

Don't tell the lads on RedCaf that, though. It's funny watching them lose their shit over arguably the greatest prospect the club has produced ion 140-years....

It's utterly incredible, isn't it?

I honestly think half of them haven't yet realized that he and Martial (who actually has been shocking) are not the same player.

Pretty incredible that. I think he’s been in the first 11 for so long you forget just how young he is.

Missed some good chances, but another assist another goal, even when he has dodgy moments he more than often makes up for that. That's Rashford in a nutshell.

Just baffling...

They clearly don't understand the sport.

Any one player only ever has the ball at their feet for 1.8% of any football match, and yet they only judge those players on the 1.8% (a misplaced pass, a missed chance)... they never see what a player brings in the 98.2% which is pivotal... Rashford offers soooooo much on and off the ball. Oppositions shit themselves when Rashford plays, he stretches the game so much and makes so many runs that go unnoticed by these guys who are only looking at the ball...

If you are upset with Rashford as a Manchester united, thenI would say this without hesitation: you have no clue about the sport.

And I agree..Martial is not good enough for this work-hungry Ole Solskjaer Manchester United... I doubt he's part of Ole;'s long-term planning... Whereas Rashford is pivotal to it, and so he should be.

Those genuinely hating on Rashford tend to go straight on the ignore list. He’s the best forward we have had at his age. Delivers so much and you can see just how much more he’s capable of. He would play for literally any team in the world.

Rashfords anticipation and movement outside the box is incredible. Its not by chance that he gets so many chances when the opponent plays a high line. Inside the box? Finishing? Decision making? Pretty bad really, but we know how good he can be

Martial should just be sold while his stock is somewhat high. I dont know whats whit him, but clearly its not working for him at Utd any longer

So many football fans just incapable of enjoying a players development anymore

These guys giving out about Rashford don't see the run he made or don't understand the genius he showed in ordered to create the chance for himself or get himself on the end of our lightning quick counters... all they see is him kicking the ball and the ball then hitting the goalkeeper's legs... they only watch the ball. It's all they're capable of watching. They have no nuanced understanding of the game...

99% of Rashford's danger and genius doesn't involved the football. On the 1% of the time he does have the ball during his career, he has managed to score and assist more than any other player we have ever created in our academy. That's all - he's just the best attacker we've ever produced.

The same club that produced Best and Charlton...

For someone who was berating another poster in a different thread for forgetting Matt Busby and the Busby Babes how does this statement make sense by your own rationale?

Your posts are beyond parody at this point. You're like a Russian bot or something.

missed sitters against PSG that would have sent us through.

"They missed"?
Martial unfortunately missed two sitters vs PSG at Home. Rashford scored the winner in the away game and scored the equaliser in the home game.

Being critical is fine, but you're talking shit in this thread.

I’d be really happy to see Martial put into a rotation role and let him work his way back into the team after a few hungry bench cameos. I’m glad he didn’t start tonight but I’m glad to see he did pretty well when he came on. Tracking back. Shielding the ball and bringing others into play. I don’t want to be frustrated with the lads but you can only comment on what you see week after week.

Rashford missed 2 one on ones in the very same game.
In the home game against psg he missed two one on ones? He 100% didn't. Otherwise i maybe just live in a parallel universe and didn't watch the same game as you.

You are a fecking legend for this. Rashford my favourite player in years. Just sent these stats to my dad and big brother who are convinced that Rashford is shit.

We could have a young Neymar playing and people would still be giving him shit about losing the ball.
Fact is, Rashford makes assists and goals. Ddoes he lose balls, yes - does he make game-winning plays, also yes.

Can Rashford be better? Yes certainly there's room for improvement (which is even scary tbh). However, the contributions from the actual striker position has been lacking, RW has been non existent all season again. Then there's the GK and defense.

Rashford is far from being any main concern this season.
This.

Or putting it another way, I'm not concerned about his talent and potential to get better.

He has however been a bit baffling at times recently: ball-hogging, decision-making, running into blind alleys...

I think it's largely the result of messing about far too much with our style and his role in it. We should settle him on the left and stop screwing around.

What do we do out right? Play Greenwood, play Amad, play Mata, do whatever the feck you want but stop messing around with one of our most valuable/useful forwards.

fairly sure he did but maybe it was over the 2 legs. Either way, Rashford has missed an absolute boat load of 1 on 1s in the last year or so in fact if you were betting you’d be more than fairly confident most of the time he’s going to hit it at the keeper or he’ll pull it back and a defender will get back at him. His stats are good but seeing as absolutely everything has to go through him or Bruno and we are supposed to be a top team them his numbers are good but still not enough to win anything and not good enough to justify how selfish he nearly always is . I understand he’s still productive for a young player but as the main man at a top team? He either needs to be a lot more ruthless in front of goal or look up and play the early pass (like tonight) more often. Yes he can still go up a level or even 2 and he’s likeable. It doesn’t mean you can’t be frustrated with him or want him to make better choices in the final third

Martials workrate can leave a lot to be desired at times, but he actually looked quite hungry when he came on today, he's a confidence and form player, which may mean ultimately we have to sell him, but it's not a huge worry whilst Cavani is still fit.

I don't doubt that he has missed a fair amount of chances this season and in his career in general, he has to become more clinical in his finishing, totally agree.

I referd to your claim that we are in the EL because "they" missed sitters against PSG. Thats just not true. My memory is quite good in these things;)

Rashford badly wasted a few good situations in the PSG away leg, but scored the winner and so did made up for it.
And he didn't miss one chance in the psg home leg, which proved to be the deciding one. Martial missed the two sitters (one of them set up by Rashford) at 1:1.

He’s one of my favourite players but shouldn’t be immune to criticism. He really needs to improve his finishing and it’s not knocking him to say that.

I think, could be wrong, that most the posts of negativity comes from people wanting him to be a little more clinical.
But then in true red cafe fashion, rather than write that it gets mixed with passion/frustration and turns into a shit show post

Incredibly underrated player on the Caf and all round bloody good bloke. I really don’t understand all the critics he seems to have on here, yes he can be frustrating, but he consistently makes telling contributions for the team. Good job he’s got no interest in playing elsewhere, as he’d be even better as part of a better team. Take Marcus and Bruno out of our team and we‘d be really fecked, they’re our best players and match winners.

What exactly was George Best’s ‘assists ratio’ when he was 23?

I know that by the time he turned 23 he’d scored more than a hundred goals for us and won the ballon d’or, but, can’t seem to find the information you’ve got about the assists?

absolutely mega hype here after a good EL game. Rashford is a better prospect than Best? Best who won leagues and the European cup?

He’s a very good player but ffs....

Just saw highlights, Rashford along with our defense is single handedly ensuring that we don't win anything meaningful anytime soon. His finishing is appalling and how he misses at least 2 sitters every game. Usually when the scoreline is 0-0 too when an early goal could heavily influence the game in our favor.

At this point he has a better scoring rate influencing the UK government than in front of the goal. Almost an uncanny radar-like ability to shoot straight at the GK when the entire goal is open.
