I don't think we fannied around on any of them, did we?
Gill put the kibosh on Ronaldinho, we were priced out of Hazard and didn't buy a house for Gazza's ma.

Pretty sure it was Kenyon that fecked Ronaldinho. I'm sure I read something about us beginning negotiations for Robben too, then he fecked off to Chelsea and took the transfer with him.
I think Fergie played a part in Hazard not happening. Massive agent's fees were the issue there, and he was very much opposed to the idea.
It was Kenyon that fecked the Ronaldinho deal wasn't it?
I'm sure Sir Alex heavily criticised him in his book for that.

Pretending we haven't signed Sancho seems a bit silly.
Sancho? Isn’t he the most expensive transfer so far this summer by any club? Appreciate we always want more but no other English club has done much in the market so far.
Varane has some flaws, but he is one of the fastest CBs out there.
Not from what I've seen recently.

It's the Sun, I know, but I'm posting for the quotes.
Okay, your point is? I haven't mention about price tags or anything btw.
I am saying we take ages making a transfer, not sure what that has to do with highest spend or done much.
Does much mean price or getting players in? if that's the case, please go check again, clubs have made signings this summer.

My point is so far we have done better in the transfer window then any club in the top 6. PSG are about the only club in Europe who have signed players of any quality. If we get Varane and Sancho this summer I think we have done well. That’s another £120m spent during COVID times and fans still moan like we don’t spend any money.
Umm Chelsea just sold Giroud for 1m euro.I think you are mistaken, fans that I have seen moan more moan at how the money is spent rather not spending any money.
Fans are moaning at the structure.
1. Inability to sell players
Chelsea just sold Guehi, Tomori for close to £50m
Liverpool sell players very well, they sold Grujic for £8m which is similar to what we got for Smalling
2. The way United have spent money
Alexis, AWB, Fred, Dalot, Donny -
3. Inability to get deals in the market
4. Inability to trust their scouts to find gems
This is the complaint from most fans.
But I read on here he’s been slowing down the past couple years so it must be true.https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/teams/players/250025891--raphael-varane/statistics/

Varane's top speed in the Euro's was 32.6km/h. Shaw's was 31km/h, Maguire 30.6km/h. He was faster than Saka, Kane and only just outpaced by Sterling (33.1km/h)
Hardly slow.
If we sold our highly rated youngsters as well, we would get good money. Doing that isnt a plus for anybody.I think you are mistaken, fans that I have seen moan more moan at how the money is spent rather not spending any money.

I struggle to understand people who use top speed as an indicator. Top speed is an indicator of the highest speed a player has reached, not the average speed at which they run, which is the clear indicator of their pace. What you are essentially calculating here could be the speed a player reached for a mere second.https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/teams/players/250025891--raphael-varane/statistics/

You quoted Guehi snd Tomori for 50m. If we sold our promising youngsters without giving them a chance it would be bedlam. No, you're mistaken.
Chelsea aren't selling Gilmour, James and the like.
Are you implying that we sell well then? Go check how much Welbeck, Cleverly, Evans, Foster went for.
You are comparing 21 year old Guehi and 23 year old Tomori on decent wages I imagine to, who are we trying to sell again?1. Inability to sell players

I don't really care about the point you're making, but top speed is really an indicator of absolutely nothing.

Oh yes, Phil Jones. Never fit and on high wages. I mean, what a bargain that is! I'm sure clubs will be clamouring up the hill to get a run at Phil Jones, surely!
But go off.
Varchester is brilliant because I have no qualms with cheating for a winI know. Why can't they call us Ushited, Varchester or Manure. Untied is absolutely pathetic. We want better insult names than that

How Chelsea treat youth is nothing to be jealous about. Our dealings wouldnt be better if we sold Mason and Mejbri tomorrow.

Sure.. but average speed isn't something they've released. But inevitably there are going to be times in games where a player gets caught short and is going to sprint to their maximum, paticularly defenders to stop an attacker. There is nothing I've seen in watching him that suggests he can't hold speed, some examples below:

Tip to the person responsible for updating the thread title.
Please add useful updates that make sense to most of us fans who are interested in how this potential transfer is going.
Many of us don't have the luxury of sitting on a football forum all day to know what 'powers up to United mode but not into arm wrestling' means. And this is not the only thread it has happened in.
I don't understand what's so difficult in adding updates that make sense to everyone.
Aww I have no idea what it means either but let the muppets have their fun. The whole thread would barely fill a page with factual updates.
Raphael Varane | no arm wrestling
Varane has most a little pace last years which is normal, but still fast. However I agree that he struggled with the pacey attacks from Chelsea. But I don’t expect pace to be a potential problem when he moves to the PL, it will more be the physical football that will be his test.I'm not questioning your thought process that Varane is fast. An eye test could tell you that he's a brilliant athlete. I just don't think top speed is the way to do it. The slowest players can hit peak speeds, but it doesn't mean they're fast. It's one of those stats that just doesn't make much sense to be listed, especially when a better metric would be their average speed.
No doubt, Varane is fast though. Don't know why anyone would doubt that.
Tomori is the same age as Rashford. If we relentlessly loan Mejbri out, have him play really well for other sides and sell him for below his value without giving him a chance, does that mean we are suddenly great transfer negotiators?Tomori is born in 1997 and Mejbri is born in 2003.
If Hannibal doesn't show us anything by 2027 and some club comes in for him I say bite their hand off.
But they did give him his shot. He played almost 2000 minutes the season before last (19/20-season).Tomori is the same age as Rashford. Especially in a summer when nearly all of their CBs are out of contract?
He has 17 league appearances for Chelsea. He wasnt given a chance. But they did give him his shot. He played almost 2000 minutes the season before last (19/20-season).
He was even benched by Lampard himself, the manager who played him week in, week out, at Derby the season before. First out of the squad and then out of the team entirely. Why would you keep a 23 year old that doesn't even make the bench around?
I could sympathize if a youth player is given 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there and then is sold, but half a season's worth of games surely is enough to form an assessment. It may not always be the correct one, but hey, that's management.
This myth must die.Not from what I've seen recently.
