Rangnick's January Window

We have a better squad then West Ham, Arsenal have no striker and Spurs are Spurs. We should still be the favorites for top 4 and that seems to have been the only real target. Hopefully Pogba makes a difference too once back. Big job to do in the summer now.

I am all for not buying something there just because we don't have anything now. We need to start looking at these things with a long term goal in mind. Get the right players in. About those who left that is more than ok, only thing that stings is Greenwood we are certainly worse off because of it.

underwhelming window, not surprisingly. Unfortunately, next window may also not be exciting as new manager makes noises about looking forward to getting to know current squad first.
Problem there is there are 4 senior squad players out of contract in 4 months

Utter shambles at the club... but then if you don't appoint experience at high levels that's what happens. Our club has become almost irrelevant and is danger of being destroyed

Oh come on.. You're sitting in fourth, you have a good team that most think can still do better, you'll appoint a new manager in summer. Why the doomsday scenarios?

Not buying any players in January is actually kind of the norm at well run clubs.

Disappointed as I was with no transfers in, I'm so glad the window is over now, the madness goes away for another few months. Just think what the next winter window has in score, with a World Cup before it, going to be chaos.

Creating a threadbare squad is how we'll end up offering Mata, Matic, Jones etc new contracts just so we have bodies in the squad.

No idea why we didn't sign someone for the CM/DM position this January unless we have someone specific lined up in the summer but hey ho. If Pogba comes back and actually wants to put the effort in we should get top 4 over the other teams. We seem to be slowly building back up our confidence under RR and have a bit more control in games.

Its honestly impossible to call at the moment. I think we will have our answer in the next couple of weeks. If Pogba comes back and plays well and Sancho gets more time and does well then I think we will be OK for top 4.

The table is a little deceptive at the moment as Spurs could go 4 points ahead of us after their 2 games in hand, Arsenal could go a point above us and Wolves could be within a point of us if they win their game in hand. Lots to play for and fingers crossed we can sneak that last position and then sort ourselves out properly in the summer.

If we are to get top 4, key players have to step up, Maguire, pogba, Rashord, Ronaldo, Sancho.

We also need luck with injuries.

I trust RR. Hopefully Rice in the summer as our key signing.

Spurs got in good players from Juventus but our window has been diappointing as usual.

Massive holes in our squad. Everyone knows this. Come out of a transfer window weaker than when it started. Welcome to Manchester United.

I‘m not too disappointed that we didn‘t bring anybody in. I suspect that we have enough work trying to drill the basics of the intended system into the already available players. I don‘t think we have the time to try to add new players to the mix.

Regarding the public opinion it‘s a no-win situation for Rangnick anyway. We‘ve been doing things for the sake of doing things for years now, and I can‘t see any big improvements. If he fails to reach the CL spots, everybody will claim it‘s because he didn‘t buy player x in January. If he bought somebody, it‘d just increase the pressure without guarantees.

For me personally, I‘m happy because we‘ll either be able to see a noticeable change in performance or we won‘t. And we‘ll know that it‘s his failure if it doesn‘t work out. He won‘t have signed a new player (maybe like Bruno) who carries the team into peak form and rides a wave of momentum, creating the impression of real progress, but without having made any systemic changes. He will have nothing to hide behind.

Have we really though?

Martial - Nowhere near the team
Amad - Nowhere near the team
Van De Beek - Nowhere near the team

To me, if Greenwood wasn't such a sex pest, we'd probably have let Lingard go as well, who also was nowhere near the team. Jones we allowed to leave, but he didn't end up going, also, nowhere near the team.

Getting shut of these players has long been on the mind of most United fans, if all 3 loanees start to play well on loan, then they come back into the fold next season with a new manager, and fight for their places again.

Those 3 are finished at United. As soon as their contracts are up, they'll be gone.

1) we aren't a well-run club 2) If we don't finish in the top four, we are unlikley to attract our targets 3) We expect more from the players and the club

Too many unknowns at present to really judge this window. If RR is staying on as manager then it makes sense to clearout deadwood and try to find them new homes. RR does his best work with younger players who are hungry, willing to learn and absorb.

The more of the primmadonna squad we get rid of the better. Regardless of who becomes permanent manager.

Rather the club went for genuine quality in the summer that fits how we intend on playing next season rather than panic stop gap january signings.

One or two quality additions in the summer with some promotions from lower ranks and we'll be ok.
