Ramsey to Juve on a free | Agrees £400k a week deal!

Juventus' midfield recruitment has been terrible in recent years. Imagine going from Pirlo, Vidal, Pogba and Marchisio to Matuidi, Khedira, and Can. What a steaming pile of shit. Pjanic is the only decent midfielder they have nowadays.

Matudi's a good player, did well for France in world cup. Always felt he's been underrated at PSG and other clubs he's played for. Him and Khedira will be 32 by end of season so think Juve just want to refresh CM a bit and also add more of a goal threat from that area which Ramsey should do.

Pirlo-Vidal-Pogba was muppet level midfield though, loved to watch that Juve team.

You can't attribute the improved Adidas deal entirely on Ronaldo, that's wishful accounting. Juve are the 7-time Italian Champions, always there or thereabout on the CL, have huge brand exposure in Asia and those milestones were achieved before Ronaldo came in. Adidas simply recognized that.

Ronaldo's contract was 100mm transfer plus 60 million a year (gross) for four years, that's ~350 million EUROS. Juve better hope to win the CL this season, because with a rapidly aging team and growing competition they won't have a better chance and the Ronaldo deal will look like a disaster from an accounting standpoint. Just like they fooked up with Higuain.

What? Every single Juventus fan thinks Higuaín was worth every penny...

And no, the improvement over the Adidas deal would obviously grow bigger anyway but nowhere near the insanity that it ended up being.

Juve keep the licensing and merchandising rights, they’ll pretty much get an over 300 million boost from that Adidas deal alone over the next few years and that’s just one sponsor.

Ronaldo could break his legs, not play another game for Juve and the signing would have been worth it from an accounting standpoint.

It’s not elite and it’s a clear downgrade in comparison to a few years ago but calling it a steaming pile of shit is pushing it

Pjanic is very good, Matuidi is getting older but still good, then Khedira, Emre Can, Bentancur and now Ramsey for the last spot... they’ll definitely sign someone else in the summer, think this will be Khedira’s last year.

They must be the only ones in the world to think so... 90M for one good season, and one decent season. They recouped some of the money from loan fees but still... you dont think they could have done better with that money, or gotten someone cheaper who could still do the job?

He’s clearly getting a wage boost because they don’t have to pay a transfer free. Makes you wonder why more players don’t wind their contract down and do a similar thing.

You think? To me he looks like a good player that could be a lot better in a better team.

Aye, I’ve honestly never rated him. He can grab a few goals but I’ve always felt he’s a player that has to be shoehorned in.

Why did Arsenal let him go, not only that, since they have known he was leaving, he has mostly played ahead of Ozil, makes no sense.

Marcotti is pontificating for no reason there. Most wages are reported before tax unless it is an astounding figure post.
The figure Marcotti posted is before tax. So he's not pontificating. Di Marzio and Marcotti's figure is very different from what the BBC provides.

Emery haven't used him often too. The club wages are to high at the moment - Ramsey isn't the only one leaving for free (Cech haven't got a new contract -> retirement, Welbeck).

After the Özil deal we probably don't want to give another top contract for someone at this age.

Every single one of them? Oh man, is that why Juve flogged the moment they got Ronaldo in?

Juve better win the CL this season, otherwise those sponsors might go chase the next shiny object.

It makes sense for Ramsey if the reports on his wages are to be believed.

Not until I see his pay slip.
Journalists don't have an automatic credibility for me these days and sports journalists have even less cred, I honestly rarely bother to listen to them because they talk so much shite.

Most random transfer for a very average player bloody hell.

Because you can ens up unemployed

€14m gross p.a. is the latest number being reportet. That is something like £250k per week and not outrageous at all.

€14m gross * 0.88 = £12.32m gross
£12.32m / 52 = £237k gross per week

I’d say that his signing on fee is included in that - they paid Emre Can £14m plus his salary so I’d have Ramsey pocketing in excess of that!

If you’re so shit that no football team would want you on a free, then you’re hardly likely to get a contract extension as it is.

Injuries is the issue.

See Valdes for a good example. Ran his contract down, tore his ACL in March & Monaco backed out of their pre-agreement. Was unemployed for 6 months until we offered him a year contract.

It’s a risk for sure

But would Ramsey have got this size of a contract if Juve had to pay Arsenal £30-40m too?

Its a signing on fee spread weekly instead of up front.

Well, he learns from Sanchez well. Risky move but worth it. And he has been pretty good this season for arsenal and great decision from him to leave banter club like that.

So terrible that the duo Pjanic-Khedira destroyed your midfield in the 2016/17 QFs (i.e. when it counted).
Paradoxically we have done much worse against you with the Pirlo, Vidal, Pogba and Marchisio midfield.

The truth is that when they all played together (so in Allegri's first season, 2014/15) Marchisio was at his peak, Pirlo was way past it, Vidal had his worst season (and in fact we all wanted him gone because his mind was elsewhere) and Pogba was still some steps below his peak form of 2015/16. So the myth of the amazing midfield was actually just a myth: they were amazing but at different times.

They must be the only ones in the world to think so... 90M for one good season, and one decent season. They recouped some of the money from loan fees but still... you dont think they could have done better with that money, or gotten someone cheaper who could still do the job?

Do you guys realize you're saying Higuain was a failure because he's been replaced by fecking Ronaldo?

He's been dumped because one of the two best players in the world just arrived and for respecting Financial Fair Play (yes, for some weird reason we have to respect it differently from other clubs) we needed to sell. We sell at least one player each summer to boost the financial statements rather than to actually cash in.

With hindsight I still do think those were 90 millions well spent. He banged in 30+ goals in his first season (which is something we hadn't seen in a while from any of our strikers) and still managed to get 24 goals in the second season despite playing as an attacking midfielder behind Mandzukic rather than as a striker.

400k? Blimey.

But is Ramsey that rated? Surely there are better midfielders out there for Juventus to sign.

Re the second tweet, how does it make them confused? If Juve have to pay 400k per week in order for Ramsey to take 250k home, the wages are 400k.
It’s 250k gross, he will earn 7/7.5 millions per year.
