We were 7th when he left and were getting battered on a weekly basis. He was a bad manager who should have never got the job in the first place and definitely deserved to go when he did, unfortunately we replaced him with an equally shit manager on an interim basis. The madness is that we appointed a director of football/consultant as a manager and have let him go just before he actually became a consultant.
If this is driven by ETH I cannot love him more. He must have been watching from the outside thinking what a complete clown Rangnick was. EtH came in and immediately tried to endear himself to the fans and the staff working at the club, but he let it be know that he's about hardwork and dedication and won't be vibes fc like Ole.
Rangnick came in wielding the axe on everyone from top to bottom, not the smartest approach. EtH continuously mentioned in his press conference that we had good players here who had achieved decent results in the past, this was a stark difference to Rangnicks thoughts, the writing was on the wall from that point, especially when he ignored all Rangnick related questions from the press.

Are you aware that he was doing miles worse than Rangnick when he got sacked? Hence the reason he was sacked in the first place
And it was a gamble. Some work out, some don't. I'm glad we cut ties quickly , IMO it should have been right after the Austria announcement.
I think no one has a hard on for him? Ralf was a bad interim manager. But he has always been excellent at building up clubs behind the scenes. It's that part a lot of fans where looking forward to.
Now that is not happening, effectively meaning that the past 6 month where a waste.

If this is ETH decision then it’s ok, however if it’s board decision then god help ETH I doubt he will last full season
Well if thats true I dont trust him at all. There is 1 person that is a) a football man and b) not attached to the club and its failures over 10 years (ok part of the last 6 months) but not 10 years and c) intimately knowledgeable of the team and the dressing room and with vast knowledge of building clubs and thats Rangnick. Whats the harm of listening to his advice? He doesnt have to take it. But at least he would offer something different at a meeting. Now whats going to happen? Lets listen to Fletcher and Murtough? We can argue if it’s a good idea to scrap the deal or not but what this proves is that management is still making bad decisions.
We were supposed to have turned the corner because we have football people in place but this decision is very similar to what would have happened with the old leadership.

The board and the Glazers yes. And even Fred alluded to it in an interview. They just wanted the season to be over and push the reset button. They didn't even want to sack Solskjaer initially (to avoid paying the high compensation when Top 4 was still mathematically possible) but the results kept getting worse under him that they were forced to sack him. They didn't try to reinforce the team in January with loan options or inexpensive buys that would improve us. They took dividends out of the club instead. If they were serious about Top 4 they wouldn't have hired Ragnick in the first place because the other considered candidates were better as coaches.
Actually think this is a very good move by the club. I feel that for the last decade being indecisive has been one of our biggest issues.

I tend to believe there was no other option viable at that time. For instance, the board already decided to sack Ole even though Ole could have turned it around. They can’t choose someone with experience in EPL, such as big Sam, because fans will revolt. They have to look overseas. The pool isn’t that big to make everyone happy then.
This is a big mistake but it’s time to move on.

Especially if your results are shit and there is close to non existent sign of any coaching going on.
Strong impression that he looked at the size of the task, didn't fancy it, and has effectively been phoning it in until he could leave.
Eddie Howe would have been an interesting choice for 6 months, yes he might not have got all the footballing hipsters aroused through his associations with others success but he is a good coach, who knows the league, the players and can set up a team.
He would definitely have signed an NDA, but I hope he lets it all out when asked about his departure.

I don't honestly see the problem here. Given the sort of disastrous reign of Rangnicks and how hilariously quickly Ten Hag dismissed the idea of the report that was going to be given to him, it was pretty much inevitable. I enjoyed Rangnicks honesty, but let's be clear that his work has basically been done, and I don't think there was anything left for him to offer us
