Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

As are a lot of the rules for the foreign U18 players...

Well, in that case you can at least defend the notion that there should be some sort of criteria, provided you think it's a good thing that PL clubs are prevented from signing young players not because they need them right now, but because they think they might develop into a useful asset. Although the actual criteria used do seem pretty stupid.

But a manager? Any manager hired by a PL club is by definition the person the club thinks is the best they can get in the world, for arguably the most important position in what is effectively a corporation that grosses more than 100 mill pounds annually. The notion that his suitability can usefully be assessed by the Home Office is absurd. The criteria they use, doubly so.

Amazing, absolutely amazing

I mean, there had to be something incompetent about our approach, anything less would be shocking.

No one in the FA is going to say no to Manchester United though.

I think it is completely fair to point out that had club acted on Ole earlier we would not have been in this situation - stuck in limbo with Carrick until Rangnick gets the visa. International break would have been perfect to arrange a much more orderly transition.
Yes we think that. The club obviously tried sticking by their man as the board was divided. No point arguing over spilt milk. Exciting new times potentially ahead

Should've done their due diligence and known that these tests would've been needed to have been carried out, prior to appointing him.
Who says that they didn’t? They obviously thought he’d get through, perhaps after the exception meeting. I’m sure that they took legal advice prior to application.
everyone needs to relax and have patience. Does nobody have that anymore?

Well if they had, then they'd have known there could've potentially be delays in him taking charge. Its just sheer incompetence, nothing more, nothing less.

It isn't though is it? We got the deal agreed, did it in a way that was respectful to Lokomotiv, did all the announcements and now we are working through the paperwork.
It is exactly how it should be handled.

Interesting

I called this with Pogba!

He presses more than people recognise and his languid style gives the impression he doesn’t (on top of the layer of unnecessary hatred he’s viewed through.)

Ralf won’t discard him like some claim because he presses more than most in the team and is obviously much more talented.

I hold hope Ralf and his system can get the best from Paul.

I'm sure you're right, and solicitors will be involved/covering the angles. This is likely just a formality, spun as a potential problem by the press.

I just don't like the sound of an FA panel, we know what the FA are like...!

Pogba's range of passing will be best utilised in his system I think.

It is though isn't it? We've just had a two week international break, perfect window for a managerial change so if there were any checks and visas that needed doing, it would've been done in enough time.

Anyone can make a deal and do it respectful, unfortunately not everyone can make a deal competently, like our lot in charge.

Pogba isn't going to be discarded for a lack of pressing, he'll be discarded because he has one foot out the door.

And anyone who'd entrust Pogba with a new deal and make him one of the highest paid players in Europe is out of their mind.

It's over.

Surely the difference between a DOF and a football manager makes little difference in this process, particularly when he’s going to be in the DOF role ultimately anyway.

Far from it. Don't know why this is getting confused.

He's going to be a third party consultant and not a DOF. He won't be employed by the club but rather a freelance consultant of whom United would be a client of his.

Rangnick will consult the club on decisions, he'll have power in those decisions but ultimately won't be an employee of the club. DOF is still John Murtough.

Of course not, all patience seems to have evaporated round these parts. It's a bit dispiriting but what can you do.

It’s a rare commodity with all these drama biatches, they just lurch for one self created drama to another.

So many claimed he would be one of the first RR would discard for this reason.

I don’t think we’d have to make him one of the best paid in Europe and I think Ralfs system would help get the best from him. But haters gonna hate :)

Some unfair criticisms here.

Just because it's taking longer than expected, ultimately due to a wonderful soup of Brexit, a new COVID strain and henceforth new fast implemented rules and Ralf's time out of the game as a manager.

No-one would've expected this.

I'm pretty sure a Hundred Million £ company such as Man Utd have the most competent people working for them.

Now just because it isn't happening as fast as YOU want it to happen. Doesn't mean they aren't competent.

This isn't as simple as you might think sitting from your armchair at home. Let the legal experts do their job, these things take time. Especially since Brexit.

Yeah but for the purpose of this topic it’s a much of a muchness isn’t it. They are all just ‘football men’ roles that are defined by name only, I don’t think immigration laws will make a difference for a full time football consultant or a DOF.

Isn’t he a consultant for Lokomotiv now anyway?

How did Tottenham get Conte without any hitch and he was living in Italy?

The club seems to have these issues more than anyone else.

Well if they had, then they'd have known there could've potentially be delays in him taking charge. Its just sheer incompetence, nothing more, nothing less.

So you have done multi-million dollar deals in the past without the use of lawyers? Ballsy move.

It's more that he'll decide once or twice a game to just stroll back. He won't be able to switch off like that under RR as it becomes an even greater risk. I don't think he passes quick enough for such a system either.

With some coaching I'd like to think he can improve on both aspects but i doubt it.

Now just imagine we had hired Rangnick during the international break. Giving us up to two weeks to sort out stuff like work permits before we play again.

Just imagine...

...and people wonder how we could spend £1 billion and have only a Europa League, League Cup and FA Cup to show for it.

We need Rangnick much more than he probably realises.

Some of you are really spoiled kids.. Can't even wait a few extra days for your new toy to chew.

No one would've expected this? They would if they'd done their due diligence, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to ask someone at the government how long this process would likely take.

We clearly don't have the most competent people working for us though, do we.

Had we sacked our previous incompeteny manager earlier, we'd have had this all sorted in the international break.

Oh no, according to @UnitedSofa because we're a £bn organisation, we have the most competent people running the club.

The club seems to have these issues more than anyone else.

Because Conte has been a manager for longer than Ragnick as the tweets above state:

Conte's last managerial job was Inter Milan, he left Inter in May 2021
Rangnick's last managerial job was with Leipzig in 2019, before than his last job was with Schalke in 2011. Between 2011 and 2015 he was not a manager.

Conte has worked in the UK before.
That was pre-Brexit and he should of gone through the same process that Rangnick has to go through.

It sounds like the club just applied for the work visa when they should have started it when he was told he will be the interim manager.

Yeah totally agree. The board have again failed in their responsibilities, but that's just standard now isn't it. But it's done now, lets try and be positive and hope RR brings the guidance the club needs.

On the bolded I think when you listen to his points about how a successful club is run, how clued up he is on the topic, he probably knows all too well just how clueless and rudderless the club has been. If we can see it then he must be able to.

Oh no, according to @UnitedSofa because we're a £bn organisation, we have the most competent people running the club.

Oh for crying out loud.

Let's get our facts straight here ok.

We were NOT looking to sack Ole until the slapping by Watford. Whether you like it or not those are the FACTS.

So you can bitch and moan all you like about competency and using the international break to get this sorted. It was simply not on Man Utd's mind at that time and they wanted to stick with Ole.

You can't just imagine up scenarios and call the club incompetent with this situation just because he's not ready to work yet. There's legal loop holes to deal with here and it takes time.

Coupled with the facts above, it is not a simple process, simply because of Ralf's career history does not line up to what the Home Office and the FA accept for Work Visa's. Hence why United are trying for an exception.

You don't become a £bn organisation through sheer incompetence for crying out loud. They know what they're doing.

Jesus, the moaning in here.

You new to the rodeo? Whinging and moaning are par for course here the past few years. Its amazing how little thought people give whenever they post something here. Its almost liken this is some agony aunt forum where you can re-direct or project the frustrations, anxieties of your lives onto the Club, players or management.

So you have done multi-million dollar deals in the past without the use of lawyers? Ballsy move.
Whats this got to do with lawyers?

This is about our board not doing their due diligence a lot earlier and covering every eventuality as possible.

As I and many of others have said, we've just had a two week international break to get all this sorted, the fact that we didn't show how incompetent this board is.
