Shameless Musketeer
As an interim, he is not ruthless enough
Maybe the previous manager aka the crappiest manager post Fergie handed him a bunch of donkeys who cant do pressing ?
I’m not saying he’s blameless he’s clearly not had the impact we all hoped for but when the same things are happening under different managers with the same players then you have to seriously look at where the real problem lies instead of just putting it all on one man.
On another hand, the players would probably continue to make the same stupid mistakes. Mou was a good manager, LVG in his time, we got nothing good out of them.On the other hand, players would listen if they know their manager is a good one. So, it is unlikely that they would not listen to the likes of Klopp or Guardiola.
Klopp or Guardiola would have easily got us top 4.
I suspect Favre, Fonseca, Garcia or Valverde would have done as well or at least had us a look closer than we are with better performances.
The players figured out pretty quickly this guy is clueless and his lack of coaching experiences is really showing.
It's not a concept and it's not hard to understand. Also, it is not clear why interimness was core to the next managerial move. The guy's a deputy head teacher. Couldn't run a bureau de change let alone a two bit peep show in Margate.Ole needed to be sacked because he had you collapsing, losing 1-5 to Liverpool, then schooled 2-0 to City, and then after a couple of weeks of deliberations a hapless 1-3 to Watford on top. All that after starting the season poorly already. And all that after three years of squad building and investment while being inconsistent on the field.
Ole is not a top manager and didn't deserve to be in the job. He had to be sacked and then an interim manager has to be hired. Why is that concept so hard to understand?
What ? When ? Please enlighten me with some example.Yet weirdly those players can and have played a more pressing game for their international teams and previous clubs.
This team is by far the least likeable bunch we've ever had. Cannot think of a single player other than Sancho that doesn't get on my nerves. To top it off, we have two suspected domestic abusers, an alleged drunk who fights people in Greece as our captain, a bunch of primadonnas that leak information all over the media everytime they don't play and bunch of unprofessional twats that don't even bother showing up for games whenever they feel like it (Martial, Cavani, Lingard). A terribly, terribly constructed group of players that deserve nothing from the fans. That’s how I think I’ll remember this season. The season we sacked our worst ever manager and then replaced them with someone who isn’t even a manager to see out the season.
Hoepfully we can confirm new coach ASAP, Pogba, Mata, Matic, Cavani can all just go on holiday, Ronaldo to the MLS, we play all our youth products and it doesn’t matter if we’re 10th or 5th to me.
I do see some vague semblance of a tactical plan early on in games - we at least seem to be TRYING to pass it quicker and earlier for example - but it immediately falls apart as soon as anything adversarial happens, or we fail to create enough chances and start to get the yips.
Basically he just has no motivational qualities. Whereas Ole was all motivation and minimal game plan, we’ve naturally done the most obviously knee jerk thing and plumped for someone with all game plan but no personal touch. A robotic professor type who may have taught Klopp a thing or two about tactics, but never had the inspirational edge to actually become a top tier dude himself… if you can do, if you can’t…. Etc etc
Great stuff as usual, United.
The players are guilty. 3rd or 4th manager for many.
We got schooled by City under Ralf, couldn't beat Watford at home and still have another battering by Liverpool to come. It has achieved nothing.Ole needed to be sacked because he had you collapsing, losing 1-5 to Liverpool, then schooled 2-0 to City, and then after a couple of weeks of deliberations a hapless 1-3 to Watford on top. All that after starting the season poorly already. And all that after three years of squad building and investment while being inconsistent on the field.
Ole is not terrible, but also not a top manager and didn't deserve to be in the job. He had to be sacked and then an interim manager has to be hired. Why is that concept so hard to understand?
Of course there’s bigger issues at the club. That’s been clear to most for much longer than this season. But that doesn’t excuse the simple fact that he hasn’t been a good appointment. At all.
The excuses for this guy are incredible. The same previous manager with these bunch of donkeys got us finishing 2nd and 3rd last two seasons. We were shit this season and he deservedly got the sack and Rangnick has been utterly dogshite as well.Maybe the previous manager aka the crappiest manager post Fergie handed him a bunch of donkeys who cant do pressing ?
Agree with the bold part. Amazing how we forget how serious some of our bad spells were under him and yet we bounced back and some times spectacularly so. He had the ability to bounce back and we needed that this season. We made a mistake sacking him mid season with RR if we hoped for top 4. Ole was not good enough but he was the best chance to get top 4. As strange as it might sound. There was nothing good left under Ole at the end, amazing how short peoples memories are. We sure served the season by not sacking Ole earlier, Rangnick has been a poor appointment but Ole and everyone else involved in putting this mess together have set the club back years.
That's not the point. An interim is only meant to bridge the time until the next manager arrives, and after the previous manager had to be sacked. I understand all this is new to you guys, but this is how it goes.We got schooled by City under Ralf, couldn't beat Watford at home and still have another battering by Liverpool to come. It has achieved nothing.
We actually won some trophies under them. Both of them got sacked rightly so did Ole at the end.On another hand, the players would probably continue to make the same stupid mistakes. Mou was a good manager, LVG in his time, we got nothing good out of them
Yes. Wed hire conte for 2 years and sack him after 6 and get ETH.
Christ have a word. That's not how football works.
Mate it's the players. We had to fight off serious interest from Spurs and AC Milan to get him. Every club he touches turns into gold.Ah yes the bright lights of Moscow, truly glittering
The guys a complete fraud
No, because conte would have fecked off after a short time and wed need a rebuild again. He's on a 18 month contract at Spurs for one.
At any given time, we need the best available manager to coach the players we have at this club. Nothing more no less. Conte would've been the one for the rest of this season after the Ole shitshow
If you read my other post I agree Ralf also has been utter shite. But it is not 100% his fault alone that we played like dogshite. Ole caused this mess with his amazing cultural reboot and that has set us back years with this collection of players. Whoever the next manager is he needs to clean Oles's garbageThe excuses for this guy are incredible. The same previous manager with these bunch of donkeys got us finishing 2nd and 3rd last two seasons. We were shit this season and he deservedly got the sack and Rangnick has been utterly dogshite as well.
People keep deluding themselves that just because he's calling out players in public he's the solution to our problems going forward. I could tell you there are huge problems, doesn't make me good enough to be our manager. He's not an elite manager, never has been and that can be seen by the clubs he's managed. He's proven himself to be a great DoF but isn't a elite manager by any metric.
Yes the players are a massive issue, yes Ole deservedly got the sack this season after 2 decent seasons and yes Ralf is a poor manager. All these facts are true, one doesn't necessarily need to preclude the other as people on here are desperate to make it appear.
Not defending RR. He‘s not the only problem. The players mentality and commitment to the job is the major problem with our current position. They are all stealing a living. It will take a miracle for ETH to be appointed manager. For many, yes, but what about Jadon, VDB, Bruno... I agree it's not just the manager. Everything regarding the club has been toxic for some time.
Ole wasn't suitable for the position, but RR...
Best case scenario, we'll need at least 2-3 years in order to become a contender
Ten Hag will have to do perform a little miracle here
Not really. This squad has fecked over every manager its had and we have very credible journalists saying they arent bothering. Thats quite special in that I cant draw parallels to other clubs facing the same issue, with MULTIPLE managers. Can say that about every manager that fails at any club..
It is funny that people thought him being blunt was a good thing. It screams to me that he just does not have enough quality in that sense.I do see some vague semblance of a tactical plan early on in games - we at least seem to be TRYING to pass it quicker and earlier for example - but it immediately falls apart as soon as anything adversarial happens, or we fail to create enough chances and start to get the yips.
