We play average under him. Not bad not great. I'm not bothered since we can still make top 4
so you’ll support united when they appoint ten Haag then? You’re such a big fan you are, yes you’re certainly so much better than the ‘cult of the manager’ that you won’t support united until they appoint the manager you want.Surprise, surprise, it's the same guys that were patting United on the back for giving Ole a brand new contract for losing the EL final blindly backing the manager again. A result against City or Liverpool means feck all if the end result is more of the shite we've seen over the last 8 years.
You have to be really dense to think I want United to lose for no reason, rather I know in the eyes of the board, a win against both will be enough justification to give us another year of an average manager who will take us nowhere instead of getting someone like Ten Haag in straight away who has achieved more already than Rangnick has in his early career.
But I guess you can ignore all that as the cult of the manager is strong on here where rebuilds take 3+ years and there are always no better managers than the one we coincidentally have in charge.
Well done, that's quite the take. I have no interest in continuing this conversation if that's what you've taken from my post. It's the same disingenuous bollocks that was spouted around under Ole.so you’ll support united when they appoint ten Haag then? You’re such a big fan you are, yes you’re certainly so much better than the ‘cult of the manager’ that you won’t support united until they appoint the manager you want.
Funnily enough most of us will support the team regardless if it’s Ole, Ralf, or Fred the Red in charge, but we’re clearly not as smart as you and should take absolutely zero joy in our results until we appoint Ten Haag (who half the cafe wouldn’t have heard of 12 months ago).
It took most people a long time to realize they are a top team and they exploited that brilliantly. This luxury doesn't apply to United who are still seen as a top team just because they are United.Leicester won the league hitting teams on the counter.
It’ll be when we get the hipster manager of choice in, until of course they get bored of that one and they need a new toy.
Just flicking through this thread to catch up, can’t help but think this aged badly and he’s put it to bed I. The last couple of games.
I’d love it if we did that!It would be pretty boring if we got in a hipster manager like Klopp or Tuchel and they won us the league and/or champions league aye.
Nah let's stick with what we know and appoint interims who do mediocre jobs because we're terrified of even trying to succeed.
I’d love it if we did that!
In the meanwhile I will continue to get behind whoever manages the team, my support isn’t conditional on future hypotheticals.
Don't get me wrong, when the time comes I will absolutely want to beat City and Liverpool. But I just won't be too disappointed if we lose because a) I've got used to being disappointed by United and b) I have zero doubt in my mind that wins against both will convince the incompetent board to secure this average manager another year in the hotseat rather than search for the best man for the job.Yeh I agree.
I just think this thread needs the occasional reminder that we should be going for the best manager available all the time, like all the currently successful clubs do. Not just appointing managers because they did ok jobs as interims and we're scared to twist.

A result against City or Liverpool means feck all if the end result is more of the shite we've seen over the last 8 years. We should be shoo-ins for top 4 but we've managed to make it a real battle. Anyone that is convinced by Rangnick so far, I've got a bridge to sell to you.

If it means keeping Rangnick and beating Pool or getting a proper manager in and losing to them, then I'll take the latter all day. Just like Paris. We won feck all and had Ole in for 3 years. Why is it so hard for people to understand this concept time and time again?

5 substitutions he has made recently have come on and scored. He has effected a change in the game from the bench. We’ve also seen changes of formation and system in game to control results. He’s still only lost one game.Has it? He got it right against Leeds, but we always get it right vs. Leeds... He's still had more games with poor/non-existent changes then good ones.
Also he started Lingard for some bizarre reason, and changing him was an absolute no brainer.

While I completely agree that Ole needed to go and that he isn’t a tactical genius, I think the criticism in the Caf was way overboard at times.THere is nothing wrong with counter attacking, its when that is all you have it becomes a problem. Ole could lift the team to beat a big team by playing on the break, but we had absolutely nothing when confronted with the low block for mid table teams. The reality is that the big 5 or 6 teams will typically dominate possession, so the question become what you can do with it when you have it. THe complete absence of coaching and game management was clear during the Ole period, while LVG took the opposite extreme. I like Ralf but am not trying too hard to defend him, though your comment about copying earlier manager is a general one for life. There are few truly 'new' ideas in the world, but taking existing ones and making them better is a skill.
Because he's the Captain or is being told to play him, not hard to fathom, there's no way any manager who is 100% making the team decisions would play Maguire over Lindelof and Varane based purely on form. That's why he's put Lindelof at RBNot sure why he keeps bottling dropping Maguire
I hope he's better upstairs because he has been an absolute failure of a signing. Things have gotten worse under him. Hell even those praising the Leeds performance which was a drag compared to how we dismantled them time and again under Ole. The only hope I have is that by the summer he'll know exactly what we need to do to progress but unfortunately he won't be allowed to do it by the higher ups.
And you have some on here who have the galls to even throw his name in the ring for the permanent job.Piss easy run of fixtures for 2.5 months have been papering over the cracks. Alarm bells have been ringing in that period with points dropped to one relegation fodder after another and getting eliminated in the cup by a lower league team but people have been turning a blind eye to that because hey, we've been winning the xG! Next month or so we're going to get badly exposed when we're finally coming up against some decent teams.
I don't like blaming managers because ultimately the mess we've been in for the past decade has been created by the people above them. But the praise Ralf has been getting has been way over the top. Guy is a spoofer who has people fooled just because he uses buzzwords in interviews. Can't ever remember seeing this much hype around such an average manager.

He's an interim though, I'm sorry if you were expecting Klopp or Pep to show up. He's a behind the scenes man with some good footballing ideas but he's not an elite tier manager.Piss easy run of fixtures for 2.5 months have been papering over the cracks. This! Completly agree. He's an interim though, I'm sorry if you were expecting Klopp or Pep to show up. He's a behind the scenes man with some good footballing ideas but he's not an elite tier manager.
His job is to get United top 4 with a dysfunctional and undisciplined team of players.
Things factually and objectively did not get worse under him.
We were an utter disgrace towards the end under Ole.
That said, Ralf hasn't been anything special and he blew it by starting Lindelof at RB tonight.
What’s the point of blaming him? He didn’t put us in this position. Years of bad recruitment and bad coaching has got us here. He is not a long term manager material, but isn’t it exactly why he was available to be appointed as an interim.
Pep nearly had City finishing outside the top 4. Klopp was celebrating draws against West Brom and Tuchel didn't come firing out the blocks either.Where's the signs of his coaching? Pep, Tuchel and Klopp didn't need more a couple if months to at least show a difference. What have you seen thats new under Ralf?
