Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

That’s really nasty, especially, at the time when everyone needs to galvanize. Some of these ex-players are really thick though.
Our ex-players with the exception of Keane and Scholes don't want the jobs for the boys culture at the club to end. It might mean they never get offered a job.

Really disappointed in him, comes across bitter for no reason. Time to deliver in a busy schedule with no preseason in few months but years of total lack of standards was celebrated? Mates FC at its best working overtime. No wonder we’re still shite a decade post fergie.

Kind of confused.

Did RR know Carrick was leaving?

Does he plan on getting rid of Phelan, McKenna?

He isn't even bringing in your man Lars is he?

These ex players wanted Ole to succeed so badly (and Carrick) because it feels more like their club in that case, as though they are more part of the success somehow.
Having a complete outsider coming in is just too much for them, it kills their nostalgia buzz, hence the irrational statements.

Was just going to say this. The tone from the United pundits is being set, Evra was talking about “who is this Rangnick to come here and change my club’s style of play with gegenpress? ”. They are going to be very difficult on Rangnick. I’d advise all United fans to ignore what they say. Be proportionate, consider how rubbish the football & results were under Ole and realise it will take time to change those things.

But can imagine Scholes and Evra will be #RangnickOut if our football isn’t rivalling Liverpool’s by the time we play Palace on Sunday.

?

Scholes has been talking about the Ole's entire coaching staff leaving (including Carrick) for ages.

Evra is the only ex-player mentioning United DNA. Possibly because he's French.

The United board have timed this perfectly.

They knew we had a tough run of games coming up in Villareal, Chelsea and Arsenal. So we kept the continuity going with Carrick to avoid too much disruption. Then we handed the reins over to Rangnick just in time for a slightly easier run of matches.

If RR had come in over the international break, it would have made life that much more difficult for him. The competence from the club has been brilliant. Nobody can deny that.
If you can’t be good, be lucky.

As much as we loved them as players I do think having so many of them around the club that lacks ruthlessness of top clubs is a bit of an issue. They’ll always gonna stick for each other in such environment irrespective of their credentials for the given roles. Bayern seems to have a good grip on these things despite having ex-players in decision making positions they don’t come across sentimental to me in their judgement in terms of people they employ.

I know about Scholes & Keane, Evra was also pretty disrespectful after Carrick announced he was leaving so they all wanted him out. I don’t get it, Ole left and United needed someone to manage until they found an interim. Carrick deserves full credit for agreeing, the job his done, and the way he’s left. Truly the behaviour of someone who cares about the club.

Most fans probably should ignore Evra views on the club, he is ust really thick and I don't believe he would set any narrative that would be towed by the rest of the ex United pundits. Neville and Ferdinand seem smart for one and I don't expect the likes of Scholes or Keane being too though on Rangnick either, they would just ignore Evra words like he never spoke them.

The narrative am scared of though and that is being painted by the mainstream media is that of Rangnick and Ronaldo not being the best fit for each other. I hope the new boss manages this very smartly and tries to get Cristiano on board with the plan as soon as possible, even if it does not fit his long term vision of how the club should proceed. If not, the plan is dead on arrival because Ronaldo undoubtedly holds massive influence among the current squad of players and if majority don't buy into the plan of Ralf, no matter how good it is, he is never going to be able to implement those plans.

And I doubt the board would back him over majority of the players, because it's simply going to cost them less in the short term anyway. I strongly believe that both Ralf and Ronaldo would make it work though, as they are very smart individuals who do want to win and be successful.

If United DNA means the players will fail at the basic then its better to modify the DNA since watching the best players in the world playing like your neighbors is really really painful

I have heard, through the grapevine, that Rangnick will be using some assistance to influence his style of play. Hans Hallertau and Stefan Saaz will be looking to add some zest to the defence whilst a Brazilian, Saccharomyces Pastorianus, is being tapped to add some sparkle up front.

These are all being seen as a must as we move forward

Evra and anyone else from the SAF alumni can feck right off. This is Man United and we need to modernise.

Go implement your United DNA vision in Salford, leave this club to the professionals.

I don't know what DNA is Evra even talking about. Oleball is the definition of anti-United DNA. It's literally the opposite of what United played under Ferguson

Yeah, I think the original intention was to keep Ole and continue to play badly. That way none of the players would be selected for their national teams for the World Cup. And thus would be much fitter than any other team once the World Cup was over, guaranteeing us the Premier League. See Woodys been playing us all along!

I really can't wait to see this lot play heavy metal football under Rangnick and the permanent manager after him.

It will be an amazing sight to behold. My concern is that this lot can't even string 2 passes together when being pressed and now they are being coached to play heavy metal gegepressing football.

Hope Rangnick can implement his style of play successfully in short period of time and also assist us to modernize the club in the next 2 years.

I have a suspicion that Evra would know more about what the DNA is better than you considering he played for the great man.

Confidence is an amazing thing. That's what the squad is lacking.

I think you’ll see less arduous building from the back and more long balls and then subsequent counter press to win the ball back high up the pitch.

We just don’t have the players in defense/midfield to confidently do it without MONTHS of coaching to implement patterns.

There is no DNA and the great man has long since retired, we need to move on, as does Evra.We need to modernise, thankfully people at the club seem to see it too now

Even the way he arrives is different.

Ole would have just told the driver to go out there and have fun but Rangnick would have studied the route for weeks and drawn lines on Google maps for the best lanes to drive down.

In a German car no less. Vorsprung durch Rangnik.

Players has a day off tomorrow , right? Means , only one day before the match day on Sunday.

I don't think we are going to see a Ralf team for atleast 3 - 4 weeks.

It won't.

It took Klopp how long to get Liverpool in this title challenging shape. I don't doubt Rangnick but 6 months is not long enough to see him mold this team into a title challenging side.
We'll see progress but it will take the next manager, some investment and 2 years minimum to see anything meaningful in regards to team performances on par with City and Liverpool on a consistent basis.

The silver lining here is that the club now has a solid plan in place with an experienced manager at the forefront of modern game. If we're going to give anyone the same backing Ole got in terms of investment, time and support from the fans it has to be Ralf Rangnick and his eventual successor. Come hell or high water we have to back the long term project.

I think you are right.

We will see some basic change in style, but Rangnick would be lucky to turn things around in a few months.

Try to make the defense impregnable and work on the press.

He needs the six months, a pre-season and a full season.

The only exception to that would be to bring in a manager who is 100% aligned to his thinking

Just because he played for the team doesn't mean he knows what the DNA is or even cares enough to tell the truth. Going by your logic - why wasn't Ole the new SAF? After all... he played under the great man. Why didn't he know how to do the "United Way" successfully? What utter nonsense.

Anyone think he may stay on as manager if he does well rest of the season?. It just seems such a wird situation all this. I mean bring in a manager, known for a system and style of play, then by the time this philosophy starts getting instilled into the players, the manager is gone and we bring in anew manager with his own philosophy.

I dont know but it seems like one step forward and two steps back.

He hasn't been a hands-on coach/manager in years. So never mind the next manager, RR needs to get his assistants in. Not sure how easy that is, considering that they may only have 6 months in this job and also that the new manager may not want them.

So its a circular argument -- if he cant get his assistants in, how can he implement the makeover that we all seem to think that needed? And the political clout/credit within United to propose the next manager?

His team of assistants are the critical component for his future success.

Feck. Jacked we beat Le arse. Ralf, please, please, treat my club with reverence and decisiveness. Smash it!

So signing Obertan and Bebe was definitely in the United DNA. I’m sure Evra wants us to continue in that direction.

He will need to pull a rabbit or more out of the hat!

I'm actually surprised Rangnick was able to avoid the media for this long. Any interviews lined up? Just the pre-match?

We should gird ourselves for the possibility that Ralf will significantly improve our performances very quickly.

As much as i loved and supported Ole, we're in this mess because of the mindless decisions board has been making past decade. We need an outside person with good footballing identity and brain to get people's head from their asses. I hope to god that Ralph is a success here. This club needs this appointment to be a success more than ever.

Evra really showing up how totally clueless he is about the game.

"United have their own DNA and their own way of playing. Why should it take on the style of a Rangnick"

And to think some people wanted this guy in as a DOF.

God these ex players cannot stand someone without a Utd connection which is frankly ridiculous

I think if he gets us top 4 and wins a trophy he has a chance of staying on. I’ve been thinking the same about him implementing his style of play and when the players are just getting use to it we will be changing manager… unless the club plan on bringing in a manager who plays similar football in which case the players will already be coached to play it.
