He should be RB for all our games, best choice and he links up with Valencia quite well.

He's amazing. His natural tackling ability is actually one of the very best in our team. One of those tacklers who wins the ball when you think he's unlikely to.

And he's crazy. Plain crazy.

If only the twins were made of tougher stuff to last the distance. Rafael was a delight to watch in his attack on the ball today.

He was our best right back last year and he'd be definite first choice for me if he wasn't so injury prone.

He's barely ever gotten a run of games since the game at Blackpool where he got injured?

he was brilliant today. Even the tackle/block that got him the yellow card was the right thing to do.

Unlucky to pick up a yellow in a game where the ref was avoiding cards, but otherwise was superb, his best performance this season.

His courage was what impressed me the most. Liverpool players hacked him down on countless occaisions but he just got up without fuss. Some of his tackles were superb as well, he's mastering the art of brwning.

RAFAEL ANSWERS FANS' QUESTIONS

Brazilian ace Rafael responded to some questions posed by fans for United Review, the matchday programme...

Who's the toughest winger you've faced since you came to England? - Shaun Birch.
I've faced a lot of hard players but I'd have to say Craig Bellamy. When I played against him a few years ago [when he was with Manchester City] it was very tough. He's so quick! And he never stops running, so you never get any rest. I had to be on top of my game against him. It was the same against Gareth Bale of Tottenham.

You've been at United now for four years. Does it feel that long? - Alice Osbourne.
Not really. When you stop and think about it, four years is a long time, but it feels like it's gone by in a flash. I've had an amazing time at this club and hope I'm here for much longer.

What's been your most memorable game in a United shirt so far? - Ieuan Evans.
I know we lost the game, but I scored my first goal for United against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. That was a great moment for me and I'll never forget that. I also have very fond memories of my debut, against Middlesbrough. I think the first time you do anything it's always memorable and playing at Old Trafford for the first time was a great experience.

That's odd as his debut was against Newcastle.

He means his full debut obviously, walking out onto the pitch as a starter with the rest of the team must be a bit different to coming on as a late sub.

Ah, my poor memory had him starting that game alongside Frazier Campbell and a few other debutantes. Of course he was a sub.

I was racking my brains trying to remember who the feck Shaun Birch played for.

Back in the real world Rafael is what he was 3 yrs ago, an enthusiastic tackler with great hair and a twin!

Me too, in fact I'd already gone past that to the stage of convincing myself that I'd seen Birch a few times and yeah he was pretty handy

This pick showed up when I googled Shaun Birch.

Despite the first being simplistic bullshit, you've 2 our 3 right there. His positioning and tracking is alot better than it use to be, he's more efficient going forward and understands the concept of marking his man. He's alot better than he was 3 years ago. Every time he's played over the past month, he's upstaged Evra and that says alot given how good Evra has been at times.

Not being hyperbolic, but it's the best half I've seen him play.

Looked assured, less rash, strong in the tackle and his positioning looks much improved.

Keep it up please.

I hope we have the Rafael-Valencia combo for years to come. They are very good together.

Barring a few rash mistake every young defender is prone to make, he's fantastic when fit and has been so over the years. Shame about the injuries though. They're the only thing stopping from owning the right back position.

Now it would be nice if the other twin could stay fit for a bit to give Evra some competition.

I don't remember Malouda doing anything, to be honest.

Thing about Rafael is barring the odd rash tackle he is IMO usually quality. It's just injuries that are holding him back. I rarely think of Rafael as a player I'm ever worried about in terms of performance levels. He might be over exuberant at times like any young defender (see Jones, Fabio etc) but his overall performance levels for me are usually excellent.
