Radek Vítek

Looks very good in the highlights and it seems he's improving/developing at a good rate. Aerial domination looks very good, sweeping up behind the CBs was also encouraging to see and he even attempted a Peter Schmeichel esque long throw that almost created a big chance in transition.

It's hard to tell about his distribution because it doesn't look like Accrington are setup to build play from the back, but from the highlights it seems his distribution is coming along fine for a 20 year old GK who is of the Kahn/Schmeichel profile. Not saying he'll ever reach those levels, but if he carries on improving/developing at a steady level then we could have a promising all-round GK of the commanding type.

And along with Harrison, we have two potentially very good keepers to keep an eye on as supporters of the club.

Another good performance in his latest outing for Accrington. Loan seems to be going superbly well.

Definitely like his physical nature and can see the Big Pete similarities. Would like to see him in the Championship next season if possible.

Clean sheet in the derby vs LASK and Player of the Week in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Could he come in and compete with Altay and Onana? Worst case, could he play a 2nd or 3rd option with Heaton leaving this summer?

No young talented keeper wants to be the no.3. There’s a reason why most big clubs have experienced keepers who don’t have huge ambitions in that position.

Altay will probably leave as well, so we need are least one keeper. It should ideally be someone young, but ready for first team football, who can actually challenge and replace Onana. If not next season then the season after that.

Would be the ideal to do but given our finances and the number of positions we need to adress (some with higher priority) I wouldn't expect Altay to leave and I would not expect that we would pay any money to get a new GK

You might be right, and the question is would he be good enough to play 2nd then and get a few games now and then and potentially compete with Onana, with Altay sitting as 3rd GK?

It’s a difficult one. As usually the no.2 doesn’t play at all, apart from maybe in the Carabao Cup and perhaps against lower league teams in the FA Cup. So if the no.1 is good, solid and consistent enough, it kind of doesn’t matter who the no.2 is.

But you’ve got to have some quality there just in case of an injury to the starting keeper.

I would have no issue in either Vitek, Harrison or Kovář (buyback clause) being the no.2. But first we need to make some decisions on the no.1. And in terms of development it’s better for a young keeper to play at any level instead of sitting on our bench 99% of the season.

With Kovář I would trust him as the starting keeper. the other two are not at that level (yet?).

If he wants to leave then I think they'll sell him

His potential is huge - and with a decent development he could easily be our first choice GK in 2-3 seasons

I think he has a chance here. So does Bayindir. Amorim would be crazy to sleepwalk into next season without contemplating a big decision in goal. Its a much easier decision than the one to replace De Gea. Because Onana has never reached the level De Gea did and he's never looked solid enough for long enough not to question him.

Amorim is willing to bring in a younger goalkeeper, he gradually brought in Franco Israel to replace Antonio Adam which is a fairly bold move because Israel is decent but not outstanding at this point.

The answer might still be Onana in goal next season but in a summer with no major international tournament I would expect Amorim and team to take a real close look at all of the options before deciding on the goalkeeper for next season.

I think Vitek needs to come back, do pre-season here and either stay as #2 or #1 or leave on another developmental loan. My worry with him is that he is an attractive PSR proposition and that there will be clubs willing to part with £5-£10m for him, we would probably then end up with a buy out 2-3x that to bring him back.

Personally don't think there will be much disruption in the GKs department in the summer (unless someone wanna leave), considering we have many other pressing needs.

Another developmental loan at a higher level would be beneficial.

I think the problem with the developmental loan at a higher level is that most clubs willing to give him the starting role will want an option to buy with it.

If it was any other position than goalkeeper I’d say give him a go from next season as he just seems on it, commanding, full of character. However he is still young for such a key position in a top team still in transition.

It’s been done before of course with other young keepers but I’d say the context was more favourable in those situations.
