Race for top 4 | Finito.

After what happened this past Thursday with us drawing and martinez/Varane both being injured yesterday's result was very important. Realistically 14 points from next 9 games should seal it. Win today and top 4 is almost confirmed, no way we bottle it from there even with so many injuries.

After our recent performances plus the injuries, I don't feel confident at all. We really need Maguire, Lindeloff and Shaw to perform at a decent level to avoid spreading doubts across the whole team.

I am still amazed how close Tottenham is to Top 4. Losing top 4 to them would be truly pathetic. The rest of the teams like Newcastle and Brighton are having good seasons so that's not that surprising.

It was done long ago. When your competition is the likes of Spurs it's over.

Finally feeling confident. Not done deal confident but not stressed every game confident

Will posters stop randomly coming on here now calling us arrogant because we were confident in a top 4 finish and then disappear?
Competition for top 4 has been shit this year. Long may it continue

We’re very comfortable now it will take a massive bottle job to drop to 5th

6 points ahead of 5th with a game in hand plus Spurs play Newcastle next week

In all honesty Spurs look awful as well there dropping points in the remaining games

Could not have been a better weekend!
Happy days, unless there is a complete implosion we should get there from here…..
Still annoying we’ve dropped so many silly points along the way hopefully we sort that out next year.

We want a draw, right?
I'd actually feel safer with a Newcastle win. Puts serious daylight between us and 5th. Newcastle still need to play Arsenal and finish the season away to Chelsea (yeah I know), so I'd tip us to get third even if they win against Spurs.

I wouldn't feel confident until we have it fully in the bag. We were comfortably in the lead for top 4 before some disastrous results. This was a magnificient result for us given what happened yesterday, but it's still not over yet.

We want a Spurs win, we're 6 points ahead of them with a game in hand and still have to play them. We'd then be 3 clear of Newcastle with a game in hand.

Strong position now. 6 point lead over Tottenham with a game in hand.
Then Tottenham play Newcastle away, us at home, then Liverpool away. You'd think that's a lot of dropped points.

Brighton are the main threat now, but think it's a bridge too far for them.

They still have us, City, Arsenal and Newcastle to play in their run in I believe. I can see them getting a result or 2 amongst those but I think there's too big a gap and too many tricky remaining fixtures for them to catch up

Good weekend ahead of a tough run of games coming up. Would be disaster to mess it up from this position but certainly not done yet.

Great weekend for us. Still think that a Newcastle/Spurs draw is the best outcome for us, I want both of them losing as many points as possible. A positive result at Spurs is the most important thing left on the schedule for us now.

there’s no practical difference really between finishing 3rd or 4th, but the difference between 4th and 5th is massive. After a draw, a newcastle win gives us the most margin for error in terms of finishing in the champions league places. I honestly may even prefer that to a draw. We’d be 6 up on Tottenham with two games in hand. So even if we lost at their place, we’d have the potential to be 9 up on 5th place. If Spurs win, we still have to worry about both teams potentially passing us.

To be fair in the next 3 games we'll be able to knock the teams we're facing out of the race if we win.

Agreed, and a newcastle win then I would consider Brighton a bigger threat for 4th than Spurs

We'll drop plenty of points in the run-in (our rivals will, too, but this isn't over yet). Dream weekend of results, though.
