Race for top 4 | Finito.

Can’t believe they’re 1 point behind us! That’s sickening.

We are pretty much out of now.

Between Jim Glazer as owner, missing out on the Champions League fund, Adidas slashing the sponsorship money, and the complete inability of this club to sell players, I feel the best we will be able to afford in the summer is Wout Weghorst and a bag of crisps.

Yeah, I'm gonna need a source on how the CL money is destined to go straight to the transfer budget.
Eh? The idea that higher revenue means more money for expenses such as transfers is surely just... basic common sense? If you earn more money, you can afford more stuff.

Important to note that we have a full weeks rest until Wolves and then another full week until Bournemouth.
Could make a big difference to a squad out on their feet.
Where as city keep playing games and keep winning… according to the manager these players love playing games rather then training. They don’t show it like.

And then what? Make more "should we sack him?" threads? What do you gain from having more bedwetters?

What do we gain from people laughing at the notion that top 4 is in jeapordy? In fact what do we gain from anything on this forum?

Genuinely have no idea how any man United fan could have retained the arrogance and confidence a lot of posters in here have maintained over the last few weeks.
They must not have watched this club or this team over the years. Not gonna bother naming and shaming them but I’ve just found it astonishing.
Yeah this is what surprised me too. Did they forget 15/16? Or 18/19? Or, erm, last season? So many gutless, awful finishes to seasons in which we had a chance to qualify for the CL but fecked it up during the final weeks.

We are talking here about possible outcomes. Finishing 5th is possible. Finishing 3rd is also possible.

What should we do? Talk only about nice things? Ok, we will finish 3rd and next year win a treble. Is this better?

Thank goodness we have 3 games left at home.
Seemingly anyone away at the moment is difficult for us.

But if we can't see it out from Wolves, Fulham and this season's Chelsea, and Bournemouth away, we don't deserve anything.

Much better

As good as we've been at Old Trafford, at this stage of the season with players being exhausted it's really hard to expect same form as earlier. Then there's Bournemouth away which will be their last home game of the season. They'll fancy themselves given our away form.

You can't count on Liverpool dropping any points now that we've given them chance for top 4 so I'm really not confident about rest of the season now.

Need to hope Leicester fight against the scousers. They’ll beat villa and Southampton who’ll have nothing to play for.

But but the top4 is done according to some many on here... clowns. This is united, nothing is done til its done.

I still think we'll win 3 of the remaining games, but we've sure made it difficult for ourselves.

But, if we don't, and we're in the Europa League again, I sure hope we actually rotate next season. Play the U23s, and the 2nd/3rd stringers in the EL, and if they crash out, who cares. Playing our strongest team and playing Sunday-Thursday-Sunday-Thursday for weeks has killed us.

The other solution would be us and the scousers both get top 4 and Newcastle miss out. They have Leeds, Brighton, Leicester and Chelsea. 3 of them teams are fighting for something

Liverpool are going to get 4th either ahead of us or Newcastle. Regardless, they're going to get it anyway.

Well it’s now on the players. If they can’t dig deep and get it over the line they don’t deserve champions league football. Don’t know if it’s fatigue or the takeover rumours creating uncertainty either way it’s pathetic

We had a great chance to win the Europe and qualify for the CL through there but we shat the bed.

Villa we were also shite, it's just our fans have remarkably low standards for what they consider a good performance. Like every game we win we were holding on for dear life in the 2nd half praying for it to end.

Eh I actually think we were fairly impressive we just didn't kill the game in the first half because our finishing is shite and has been a problem for a while now.

And what the hell's a no-CL premium? I've heard of an English premium, but this is new to me.
It means we’ll have to offer higher wages to entice good players to join us. The type of players we need don’t want to play in the EL and will request more money. It’s not that difficult…

Tried to remain calm but am really getting anxious about whether we are going to do this. That was our 57th game of the season, we look absolutely dead out there, physically and mentally, we have no form whatsoever. Though this team only need 9 points, with the way we are playing, I’m not sure that we will get that.

This is our first week break in a while. These 6 days are crucial, ETH must get the team back on track or we are done for.

I think the next game is next staturday. I don’t think the team has ever had this long of a break this season. Hopefully they can do actual training, not just rest and do light sessions.

Win against Wolves at home, and we're 4 points clear with 3 games left. I get that it's easy to be pissed off and down right now but missing Top 4 still shouldn't really be an option.
You probably do not know this club enough. We are the biggest bottle job club in the country right now for a true supposedly big club. Top 4 is gone. teams know we are under pressure and will have a run at the defense, take long shots, pot shots at De Gea knowing he will spill something, corners will be attacked, while we are unable to score.

Fecking angry to say the least but i so want United in the CL next season as i feel ETH will get us playing some good football with a proper striker, not being there will be a massive blow. We will not make it.

We still control our own fate. The goal difference column is telling though. Has me feeling like the only way we qualify top 4 is if Newcastle stop overachieving themselves because I would back Liverpool to finish ahead of us.

The "such as" is doing a lot of heavy lifting for you. Maybe the extra money will go straight to the owners' pockets. Maybe it'll go towards a much needed improvement of the stadium. My point is, how do you know it'll go to the transfer budget?

In any case, take look at our transfers in the last decade and how much we've been able to spend regardless of CL participation. The money's there, CL or no CL.

To be fair, I don't think what happened 7 years ago is any reflection on this team.

The reason I feared we'd bottle it, is not because of the past, not because of this team's mentality. It's because we're mostly fecking dreadful. This team can't retain possession of a football, can't create chances, can't score goals, and their discipline is fecking horrendous too. How on earth can anyone ever be confident going into a game with these lot baffles me.

Even in the games we win, we scrape a close 1 goal win and have to bring on Maguire for the last 5 minutes to head the ball away as the ball bounces round our box like a pinball because we can't keep possession for more than 2 seconds.

I'm a newbie to this forum but I've been watching in United teams for over 30 years. Many of those teams I'd put my life on them having to go to a difficult away ground and get a draw or a win, whatever was required, 9 times out of 10.

This team....? They don't have the minerals required.

So when I was "wetting the bed" about Liverpool catching us up a few weeks ago, it wasn't because I thought Liverpool were anything special. It's because I knew there's a serious fragility in this United team, where they crumble in the face of any adversity.

So now we go into the last 4 games of the season with an attack that can barely get a shot on target let alone score, a midfield that continuously gets bossed around and a gk/defence combo that's liable to a calamity at any moment.

3 wins out of the last 4 games? With that team? Nah, f**k off

To be replaced by flaky overpriced players like Antony? Or past it players like Casemiro? Or total dross like Malacia?
Signings under ETH have been adding to the problem.
All of those players will be better alongside less flaky players. Casemiro for one the prime example.

Sorry, but this team of bottlers just doesn't have it in them to win 9 points against big bad wolves, bournemouth, chelsea and fulham from here.

All of United’s remaining games are against teams on the beach. That’s an ideal scenario. The fact that they’ve let Liverpool creep up on them so much is shocking though.

One of the two teams today was preparing for a European semi and playing like they want to wrap their league campaign up. The other played their second match in a week in flip-flops.

feck me. The last month has been absolutely fecking shocking hasn’t it.

Time to find out how good our manager really is.

My point is, how do you know it'll go to the transfer budget?
I don't but again, surely there's a better chance of having more money for transfers if we have more revenue? How is it possible to deny this?

If we somehow get past Wolves we have to beat Bournemouth away to stay ahead of liverpool. We wont and we will get into the last two games having to win them on a Thur-Sun schedule. Our players will collapse under that pressure like they always do.

Must be some posters feeling very stupid right now. Particularly those that have continuously had a go at me in this thread.

One of them is now 'bedwetting' in the ''Is the united forum safe to go in yet'' thread

It clearly is an option, other than the last 15 min, the players were already on the beach. They genuinely couldn't be bothered to put the effort in.
